  • Labor Day Weekend

"We spent a long weekend at this lovely home and could not be more pleased with the accommodations. The kitchen along with the fancy gas grill on the upper deck suits even the most discerning of cooks. (One of our group is a chef) The home is tastefully appointed and well laid out with an open floor plan. The 3 bedrooms are all spacious with top of the line beds and linens. The master bath, I must say, is big enough to throw a party in! The upper deck is spacious with very nice patio furniture, as well as a swing and a great view of the water and also the wildlife (hummingbirds, water fowl, etc) It is very secluded-cannot even see the neighbor's homes due to woods and tree lines, which is a big bonus for us city dwellers that want some peace and quiet. Yes, there is a slope to get from the house to the dock, but that is typical of Lake Barkley, and if you are in reasonable condition, it is not a problem at all to get yourself and your gear up and down the well manicured slope. Our group was all age 50-65 and we had no problem. The dock is wonderful, with a sunning area and a covered area, and a swim ladder. We loved this place and plan to return!"

  • Nice, clean, open place to relax

"Myself and four of my girlfriends spent 8 days here in the middle of winter crafting. We found the place perfect for our adventure. The kitchen was stocked more than any other place we've rented. (We do this every year for the past 8 years) This would be a great place in the summer as well because you are so close to the boat ramp. I would like to suggest that at least one if not 2 of the 4 (very nice) bedrooms be updated with a king bed. When you are sharing with friends and not spouses, a queen is a little small but certainly manageable."

  • Just the right spot. Just the right place.

"My adult daughter and I stayed at the cabin for a long weekend father-daughter trip. It was a short drive to both Natural Bridge and Red River Gorge for hiking, which we did plenty of. There is not much for supplies nearby, but hitting the next exit on the interstate got us groceries and supplies. The cabin seemed a bit small at first, but then it seemed just right. Back deck was nice for reading and listening to the rain and inside it was surprisingly warm and cozy. Sleep came easy. One thing that took us a while to catch was that the heater in the living room has a switch on the top/back of the right side of it, that turns it on. Once it turns on, it doesn't need to be on for long. It puts out plenty of heat and the cabin holds it well. We cooked several meals in the kitchen and had no trouble with what looked liked an old stove. We cooked both on the stove and in the oven and the food came out just fine. There is plenty of china and silverware. The small "dorm" sized fridge was the right size. The bathroomn is well done and interesting. Gave me some ideas for my own bathroom. Shower is plenty big and the is ample hot water and water pressure. I ended up folding out the couch for sleeping, though if more than one bed is needed, you might conside a blow-up one. Since there is no TV, which is a good thing, we ended up listening to the iPod, which was hooked in to a small amp, all weekend. There was a really good selection of good music on it. Some 6,000 songs. Just after we turned on to KY 77, we stopped for a load of firewood. There were 3 men selling dry wood and they were complete gentlemen. Did a nice job of loading wood in to the car and making sure we had ample kindling. Only issue was all the rain, which did not stop us from hiking, but did keep us from being able to make "Hobos" in the fire. Ended up making them in the oven, but it was not quite as much fun. Overall it was a great trip and we hated to leave. We got just what he hoped for out of the cabin."

  • Serenity

"My family and I went down to visit my son whose is in the military.I was awed by the cleaniness and comfort of my choice. We wanted some down time and we received it. We felt as if we were at home, with just the entire accommodations of this home. There was plenty of space, stocked with kitchen needs as far as to cook. Plenty of linens if you forget something from home and some beauty essentials as well. We had great weather while there which gave us a chance to view the river and experience the nature side around the home.I do suggest if you want to get away from the busy city life this place is great to rent. The down side of this place there was no WIFI but we knew that when we rented which was no problem but making phone calls or receiving them was a problem due to being so far out.We survived and grateful we spent quality time with our loved ones. If I do it again, I will with no problem.Thank you Craig for your hospitality and for your quick responses."
