"The cabin was very nicely appointed and clean. Everything about the cabin itself was exactly as described, if not nicer. Darra was friendly and helpful via email.
The reason for not calling this 5 stars was because of the description of the location and lake. The cabin is not secluded -- it is remote. We did not plan on a 10-15 minute drive to the main rode, then another 15 minutes to the nearest provisions (in this case, a Super Walmart). The main activity for our stay was to visit Mammoth Cave. As long as you understand that it is a bit more than an hour's drive away, you will be okay. We underestimated the time.
Also, we are definitely city folk. The lakefront is about 300 yards from the house. The path is pretty flat, but also needs to be cleared a bit of overgrowth. There is just a small spit of cleared space at the water's edge. I have small children and they did not feel comfortable swimming there.
This is a very nice cabin that is better for adults than kids, and better to stay hunkered down at rather than venturing off (unless you enjoy long drives -- then you're all set.)"

"What can I say! We had such a great weekend. It's perfect if you need a place for a big family. There was plenty of room for eleven of us in the hill house! The 3rd room in the hill house has fans because the air doesn't quite make it cool enough, but it was very comfortable for the kids. It's a serene, peaceful it is perfect for family or couples. The college town is only about 10 minutes away. We went one night and had great pizza at a local place. Walmart was about 15 minutes away where we shopped for our groceries for the weekend. There is a General Dollar that is very close for anything you might have forgotten too. We spent a lot of time on the property, using the barn for a cook-out and the kids played with various outdoor toys. The boys walked to the pond and went fishing, ( it was a little farther than what we had expected ) but they said it was a great hike and the pond pictures are beautiful. The family provides, toilet paper, paper towels, dishwashing soap, and lots of misc. items that are already in the home. The Escobar family were more than accommodating, and even gave us FRESH brown eggs from their chickens for breakfast. It was a wonderful weekend for our family and we left with lots of memories and had lots of laughs. We would highly recommend to stay here."

"Fabulous home!! Perfect for anyone showing at or visiting The Kentucky Horse Park. Great fenced yard and nice patio for watching the fireflies dance at night! The Llama and sheep were just adorable, watch out the Llama does spit though I'm told that it's a complement and that I'm now an honorary member of his herd :) No close restaurants so be aware that you'll have a 15 - 20 minute ride if you want to go out to eat. Only close place was called, "Sam's Restaurant" and the best I can say about that place was that it was interesting. unless you smoke you probably don't want to go there since they still allow smoking inside. The whole building reeks of it when you walk in and pretty much every table is lit up so if you smoke it's paradise but if you don't, well, head to the Waffle House. House is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Great refrigerator, dishwasher, everything you need really! We will totally stay here again and highly recommend!"

"Our favorite pastimes are visiting new spots and revisiting our favorites. Our visit to this home has spoiled us for any place we’ll stay in the future.
We read the description and were sold. This place is even more enchanting than anticipated – the photos don’t convey just how wonderful it is. The genuine lake house feeling we were hoping for is exactly what we found here – down to earth, a very cozy and warm home, yet pristine and rich with fine points. The hosts clearly take what they do seriously and to the great benefit of their guests. The awareness of even the most subtle particulars delivers something rare.
Being closer to the water is impossible. We didn’t expect sun and mild temps for a January visit, but we had them. Looking out the windows we saw Bald Eagles soaring over that blue water right in front of the house throughout the day. My favorite happening – I was on one of the deck’s comfy chaises, soaking in the sun and being hypnotized by the ultimate view when a huge Bald Eagle landed in the branch of a tree about 35 feet from me - Amazing!! I got a couple of mind-blowing photos.
I could rave on about this wonderful place, but there are a few practical details to share – The trip into Murray is straightforward and not far. The Kroger is very nice. We were going to eat out one night, but once we got settled in we just couldn’t leave our private bliss.
So, on the day we departed we were sad to go. Our consolation was immediately reserving a stay for the coming summer. We are looking forward to making good use of that extra kitchen and spending the days on the dock’s sunny, swim platform with my sisters and their husbands!
It’s a challenge to put into words the long list of attributes and perks here that make this 6 Stars! A spell has been cast on us by this MAGICAL lake home!!
The summer cannot arrive too soon!!"
