  • 25th Anniversary

"We were looking for a place to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We had just spent two week in Massachusetts & really didn't want to travel far, but wanted to go somewhere. We had heard of Garden Valley, but had never been there. We ended up celebrating our 25th in Crouch and staying at Uncle Billy Bobs redneck trailer that I re-named to family & friends "the love shack". The Love shack was clean & cozy. It has everything you need including a coffee pot. I did see some dishes etc...but it was my anniversary.....I'm not cooking LOL! There is a restaurant across the street from the love shack that made the best shrimp omelet. This was a fun, peaceful get away.....And in the words of my husband when he's talking about our marriage....I'd do it again in a heart beat!"

  • A Great Vacation

"This was a perfect location walking distance to the bike rentals, beach and almost right next to the Plantation Club pool. It was nicely decorated inside and clean. Every bedroom had a flat screen t.v. .The view of the golf course was beautiful especially in the morning when the sun was rising. We know next time when we vacation at Sea Pines where we will be staying!"

  • Spacious and convenient!

"We loved this spacious ski-in-ski- out condo! We especially liked that the two bedrooms were separated by heavy doors to be closed off from the living space, and that the day-bed area could also be closed off by a folding partition, so that it was almost like a third bedroom. There was plenty of closet space, lots of videos and books and games to entertain, great views of the skiers on the mountain (we could watch our three-year-old granddaughter ski by the Christie lift), convenient to ski out and in. We enjoyed walking down to the base area for dinner one evening (very close). We also liked the large entry hallway with plenty of room for ski boots and shoes. We hope that if we return to Steamboat, this unit will be available again."

Lake Erie Area Travel Tips

Favorite Seasons to Visit Lake Erie Vacation Rentals

For families and people who want to enjoy water sports, the summer months are the best time of year to visit. From May through September, the lake experiences warm summer temperatures which make it ideal time of year for swimming, boating, waterskiing and sailing. During school summer vacation periods, the lakeshore can get very busy as families choose to spend their summer vacations on the lake. The busiest season is typically June and July. For those who want to enjoy the quiet serenity of Lake Erie, it is recommended that you rather travel in the spring season which is during April and May or the fall season which is September and October. During the winter months, the lake is transformed into a winter wonderland. Areas of the lake frequently freeze over and the shoreline is blanketed in thick snow. This season is ideal for those who enjoy ice fishing, snowmobiling or cross country skiing.

The lake offers superb fishing and you can fish from the lakeshore or head out in a boat to deeper waters. It is the one activity that is available year-round.

Family Fun Times at Lake Erie Cabins

Lake Erie is a superb family vacation destination. Many of the vacation homes are located on the lakeshore, providing easy access to the water and a wide variety of water sports. The kids can spend the days fishing and paddling in the shallows while parents enjoy some relaxation time on the deck. If you have a boat, many of the homes have private moorings where you can tie your boat up so you don't need to launch and recover it every day. Picnic areas are great places to enjoy some fun games with other families. During the summer season, there are frequently festivals and events that provide further fun and entertainment for the family. Lake Erie is also a destination where couples can go to enjoy a romantic getaway or some quiet relaxation. Many homes have stunning views out over the lake. If you are staying on the eastern shoreline, you can enjoy spectacular sunsets at the end of every day.

Getting to Lake Erie

Lake Erie is the southernmost of the Great Lakes. Its shoreline includes the states of New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan in the United States as well as the north shore which is in Ontario, Canada. The three major cities on Lake Erie are Buffalo in New York, Cleveland in Ohio, and Detroit Michigan. Detroit has the largest and busiest airport and is the main access point for the western shore. Detroit also provides easy access to the Canadian side of the lake through the neighboring city of Windsor. If traveling by road, there is a good network of roads along the lakeshore, providing easy access to vacation homes on Lake Eerie. If staying on the northeastern shoreline of Lake Erie, you may consider flying into Toronto and then getting a domestic connection on to the town of London. For travelers from the United States, the best access point on the northeastern side is the city of Buffalo, located near Niagara Falls. Cleveland Airport provides good access to Lake Erie's southern shoreline.
