"Overall stay was great. Only con was the floor in condo and balcony could use a good mop cleaning."

  • Dreams fulfilled.

"The intoxicating beauty of Saturday Pond hung in the air like a theatre curtain. The trees made a rustling sound as they swayed in the soft wind next to our cabin. The lakes loons made a high warbling sound, almost as a celebration for the lake itself and our arrival. Our neighbors were as cheerful and respectful as any prayer would request. One could say I am in love with this pond…and yes I must confess to all that I am head over heels in love! But to ignore our host Jim & Elaine in this equation and evaluation would be a travesty. I have rented and leased cabins and homes across America and the globe in some nutty pursuit of the perfect vacation. Let me honestly state that this couple exceeded my high bar of expectations and firmly concerted the standard all others should be measured by. The cabin was immaculate, the lake…well you know that… their professionalism and hospitality was an art form in itself. Jim is my kind a gentleman: Honest, pathologically hardworking and a never taking himself seriously. Ellen is the type of lady you endorse as a friend before she speaks a word. Her intelligence, eloquence and focus go hand and hand. We left Saturday Pond and this Vacation rental with great sadness as Adam & Eve certainly must have felt when they left the Garden of Eden. In fact we did see a friendly snake on the dock just below our cabin…but our temptation to return was in our heart long before the snake appeared. I would like to recommend this place to others. But my selflessness in keeping my Eden to my family remains within."

  • 2014 Family Reunion

"We were a reunion of 18 (8 being children under the age of 12). We rented both units. The accommodations were beyond my expectations! There was plenty of room for all of us. Everyone had a bedroom to escape to for naps or quiet time away from the happy family noise. The kitchens were both stocked with everything we needed to cook breakfasts and dinners for the week we were there. There were more than enough bath towels, plenty of beach towels, sand toys for everyone, booster chairs for the little ones, and pack-n-plays for the little ones to sleep in. I wasn't anticipating the pack-n-plays being in good condition, so we brought out own. The ones at the house looked brand new! I could go on and on with praise! Because of the housing accommodations, this family reunion was the best we've ever had! I will definitely rent this place again."

Ontario, Canada Travel Tips

Seasons to Visit Ontario Canada Vacation Rentals

Ontario is a beautiful destination, no matter what time of year you plan to visit. The area around Lake Huron is known for its natural beauty and tranquil setting. The winters can get particularly icy and cold but that doesn’t seem to deter ice fishermen from enjoying their favorite pastime. Some people actually prefer the winter season as they can go snowmobiling and snowshoeing during the day and cozy up in front of the fireplace at night. The summer months from May through September are probably the most popular months to visit the Lake Huron area. The longer days and warmer daytime temperatures allow you to enjoy the lake and many water sport activities available.

Visitors to Ontario Canada Cottages

Ontario is a great family vacation destination. There are many natural and cultural attractions in the area as well as many interesting places to visit. Vacation homes along the shoreline of Lake Huron are especially popular with families. You can have hours of fun on the water without even having to drive anywhere. Kids can swim and paddle in the shallows while parents relax on the nearby deck. You can enjoy fun family fishing competitions and a ball game on the front lawn. It is a place where you can relax and enjoy some quality time with your family. Because Ontario’s shoreline on Lake Huron faces west, you can also enjoy magnificent sunsets over the lake. This may just bring out your romantic side. In fact, it is a popular destination for honeymooners and those wanting to enjoy a romantic getaway.

Outdoor Activities near Ontario Canada Cabins

There is no shortage of outdoor activities in Ontario. The many national parks and reserves have hundreds of trails that are open for hikers and mountain bikers. Perhaps the most well known is the Bruce Grey Trails System. In total, the trail system covers a distance of 825 kilometers across Canada and this region is said to be one of the most scenic parts. See rare orchids and ferns in the forests and enjoy breathtaking views from the cliffs. The Bruce Peninsula National Park and the Fathom Five Marine National Park are great places for nature trails, wildlife viewing and birdwatching.

Of course, the lake offers a wide range of water sport activities. You can take a cruise from the historic port harbor town of Goderich. You can also hire boats or kayaks to explore the lakeshore on your own. The Ontario River offers 120 kilometers of paddling with campsites along the route. Guided tours can be booked through local outfitters.

Southern Ontario is an area that has a rich cultural and historical heritage. Explore the many villages and towns and stop in to visit the interesting museums in each. Experience warm hospitality no matter where you happen to tour. Enjoy the relaxed ambiance that is characteristic of the region. There are many excellent restaurants in the towns and the local bakeries are known for their delicious pies and pastries.

Getting to Lake Huron Area Vacation Rentals

The closest international airport is Toronto Pearson airport which is a two- to three-hour drive from Lake Huron, depending where on the shoreline you are staying. If you are staying on the southern shoreline, a closer regional airport is in London. For travelers from the U.S., you can also route via Detroit and then cross over the Canadian border at Windsor. If you are flying in, it is a good idea to hire a vehicle as that will make getting around easier. There is a good road network and the roads are not particularly congested which makes driving a pleasure.
