  • Outstanding

"The owners of the residence were helpful and pleasant, the staff on site was very accommodating, and the property offered all of the amenities of a top rated resort with peacefulness of a privately owned residence. The pools, beach, restaurant, lobby, movie theater, social room, gym, and the unit were all excellent! We plan to return."

  • Perfect in every way!

"I cannot say enough good about the cottage or the owners. The cottage is new, bright, stylish, roomy, comfortable....I could live here. It surpassed my expectations. There is internet, satellite TV, washer and dryer, and a well stocked kitchen for cooking. A big bonus to us was that Jim and Louise allowed us to bring our dogs...thank you so much. We look forward to coming back next year and I will definitely refer my friends to stay here."

  • Birthday Celebration

"I chose this villa to celebrate my daughters and my birthday. It was our first vacation in St. John, and all we talk about is wanting to go back and stay at Flanders Villa. It was everything I had expected and more. When we walked inside, all we could say was, WOW. It is beautiful and so well build. Waking up in the morning and looking out over the water and islands was out of this world. Having coffee by the pool was like being in paradise. We were eight adults and had plenty of space. The kitchen is big and beautiful and had everything we needed. All the food and drinks we needed was available in Coral Bay, even fresh, homegrown greens. Just bring something to get started from Cruz Bay, in case you arrive late. For my birthday we had dinner at Miss Lucy's. Allow plenty of time and relax, the food is fresh and delicious. We want to go back to St. John and stay at Flanders Villa, what more can I say. We all had a great time d didn't want to leave. Thank you!"

  • Getaway in the woods

"This was a good getaway. We enjoyed the location very much. Up high on the mountain. Downtown Evergreen just about 30 min away for dining. Also the Brooke Forest Inn is just about 15 min away from the cabin. We enjoyed the quiet and the cool weather! Fireplace works amazingly well. Keeps you VERY toasty at night. Just the perfect amount of space for our family of 4. Could have definitely fit 4 kids in the second bedroom. Having one bathroom could be an issue if you did that though. It was somewhat of an issue for us. The only negatives for us were the limited kitchen tools for cooking. The bathroom tile did have mold on it. Something the owners need to remedy quickly. The photos need to be updated as well. Because the "View" of the mountains off the back porch (that is very run down and somewhat of a mess) is very hard to see. Forest has grown and is much more dense. Making for less of a view. There's also several power lines blocking that view. There are plenty of towels and a great laundry area in the bathroom. We enjoyed that. More paper towels and more toilet paper would have been nice. Again. Location is great if you need some quiet. We could hear the stream from the house and it was not close. That was really neat. So was the sunrise each morning. So great. We would definitely stay again. Hoping the list I just made was fixed."

Lake Huron Area Travel Tips

Over 3,800 Miles of Stunning Scenery at Lake Huron Vacation Rentals

One of the five Great Lakes and the second largest, Lake Huron is partially in the state of Michigan in the United States and partially in the province of Ontario, Canada. It is also the world’s fifth largest freshwater lake. Its name comes from early French explorers who based it on the name of the original inhabitant of the area. With its 30,000 islands, Lake Huron has the longest shoreline of any of the Great Lakes at over 3,800 miles. With excellent airport links and roads, including major interstate and state highways, the area surrounding the lake is easily accessible. The weather here makes for perfect warm summer vacations or all the fun of a snowy winter wonderland.

Fabulous Fishing and Much More at Lake Huron Cottages

One of the most popular activities around here is, of course, fishing. Wherever visitors to Lake Huron cabins choose as a vacation base, they will find they are close to the lake, with marinas, launching areas, docking facilities and boat charters available. With its many bays and quiet cove areas, it is an ideal place for sailing as well as fishing. The lake is kept well stocked with a wide variety of native species. Those looking to spend some time fishing from the shore or by boat will be rewarded with a species such as a variety of trout, including brown and rainbow, Coho Salmon, herring, pike, bass, and perch. Die-hard fishermen may even want to try ice fishing in winter here. Of course, it is not just about the fishing, with many opportunities to enjoy kayaking, boating, sailing, swimming and diving.

All around the lake are hiking trails for summer that become cross country skiing and snowshoeing areas during the winter months. Visitors will find trails to suit beginners or advanced hikers and skiers. Many areas also provide great spelunking (caving) opportunities for the more adventurous. There are also many biking trails here, as well as wonderful opportunities to get out into the forest areas around the lake on horseback. For a real bird’s eye view of the lake in its entire splendor, try a helicopter tour. For the romantics, perhaps a winter sleigh ride would be the perfect day out.

Choose Michigan or Canada

As great as the great outdoors is, it is nice to have something to look forward to in the evenings, and visitors to Lake Huron vacation rentals will find they are well taken care of in this regard. With a choice of so many towns dotted around the lake, either in Michigan or over the border in Canada, there are plenty of options for those who like an active nightlife. These towns know how to take care of their guests, and visitors will find a wide variety of taverns, pubs and nightclubs offering good food, great company and dancing to a wide variety of music.

Lake Huron Cabins With Docks and a Welcome for the Dog

Pick from Lake Huron cottages in areas such as Cedarville or Drummond Island on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula; Alpena and Caseville in Lower Michigan or Canadian resorts such as Grand Bend, Southampton or Wasaga Beach are among the huge variety of towns to base your vacation. Most come with views of the lakes and many will be just steps from the shoreline. Whichever town is most suited to your vacation, one thing is certain--the home you choose as your base will be a great one. Homes come in a variety of sizes, from small and cozy to large and spacious, and each will be equipped with everything needed and more. Find homes with log furnishings, indoor Jacuzzis or outdoor hot tubs, pool tables, big screen TVs, docks, or even boats! The owners think of everything, and many even welcome the dog!
