  • Fabulous Stay at Bayside

"This was our first time at Bayside and Fenwick Island and it will definitely not be the last! The house was neat, comfortable and well equipped for me and my family of 5 as well as my brother's family of 4. It was such a relaxing community and fun place for us to either go kayaking, paddleboarding, crabbing or just to lay around and relax by the pool. The beaches are all close by and clean. The owner Cathy was a delight to work with. We look forward to coming back again soon!"

  • Best New York stay ever!!!

"My husband and I stayed in this apartment for a week. We had the best stay ever. It was so comfortable, just like being home. We couldn't have asked for a better location. We loved living like locals for the week. The apartment has all the comforts of home. We will defiantly be back and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else."

  • Our Harbor Island Mini Vacation

"Two "Seniors" off for a getaway, and we were delighted with this choice of a vacation property. We wanted quiet, a Hunting Island Pass, a King bed and a kitchen. This property met all expectations. Plus the view of the salt marsh is magical! The kitchen was stocked with high end pots and pans which made cooking easy. Everything was clean and organized. We will return to this property. Biking and hiking on nearby Hunting Island was a treat."

  • Greenjammers

"We were a large group, ranging 5-68 yrs. There really are 7 bedrooms :). Advert. is an honest description inside and out. No shortage of things to see and do: most notably a small pod of whales, moments after our arrival! How cool is that? Local grocers and restaurants carry regular, as well as, special dietary items ( Vegan, for me). Gumboot Restaurant is an annual affair. Weather was awesome. Beachcombing fun. Blackberries abundant and great on ice cream."

Michigan Travel Tips

Lake Michigan Vacation Rentals Along the Michigan Coastline

Lake Michigan has the distinction of holding two titles. The first title is that Lake Michigan is the second largest of the Great Lakes by water volume but the third largest by surface area. If you want a northern vacation in summertime, Lake Michigan vacation rentals will place you in the perfect area. You have it all with Lake Michigan cottages, including great views and plenty of outdoor fun. Your proximity to the beach, wineries, and historical sites is one reason to choose VRBO rentals. You also gain the option of using the fully equipped kitchens instead of eating out, if budget is a concern.

Lake Michigan Cottages are Rich in Past Accounts

Any town, state, or country you visit is going to have history, culture, and heritage to share with you. In the Lake Michigan region, you may want to spend some time learning about the early ancestors and trade movements. The first inhabitants of Lake Michigan were thought to be the Hopewell Indians before 800 AD. It then became a place for the Late Woodland Indians, with the first European explorers reaching Lake Michigan in the early 17th century. A number of tribes such as the Chippewa, Menominee, Sauk, Fox, and Ottawa spent time on the lake. Jean Nicolet was considered the first European explorer to the region followed by Louis Jolliet, Jacques Marquette, and Robert de LaSalle who all put their mark along Lake Michigan.

Lake Michigan Cabins Provide Local fun in the Sun

The Lake Michigan area is rather large, covering over more than 150 miles of coast land. Depending on your location on Lake Michigan, you can expect numerous towns like South Haven, St. Joes, or Lakeside to have Lake Michigan cabins for rent. People travel to Lake Michigan to enjoy the Michigan Coast in the summer. In winter, the temperatures are dramatically cooler, making it almost unpleasant to take a walk on the beach. However, in summer the temperatures can reach the cool 80s Fahrenheit. Swimming, diving, boating, waterskiing, and long walks on the beach are possible each day. From your Lake Michigan vacation rentals, you can watch the sunsets over the water or walk your dogs along the soft sand.

Grand Haven is one place to mention for historical attractions. In Grand Haven, there are two lighthouses which are connected by a catwalk. You may also choose to use a charter fishing company, bike along the paths, or golf at one of the six local courses. Muskegon attractions provide a different type of adventure with the WW II submarine and Prohibition Era Coast Guard Cutter. If that is not enough, there are the Frauenthal Theater or Funnel of Fear at Michigan’s Adventure Park to visit.

Family Meals at Lake Michigan Vacation Rentals

Part of the appeal of Michigan vacation rentals are the kitchens designed for cooking great meals every day of your vacation. If you fish in Lake Michigan, you can arrive back at the rental to prepare your freshly caught meal. There are also plenty of markets, whether you are in South Haven, Grand Haven, or Saugatuck.

Vacations are often about getting away from everyday life, so you might want to take some of the savings the rentals provide and try a meal or two out at local restaurants. Family restaurants are spread throughout the Lake Michigan region. The Idler, Mermaid, Curragh, Kirby’s, Clementines, or Bil-Mar are a few that can be named. All you need to do is a take a stroll down Main Street in any of these towns to find these restaurants and more.

Did you eat a little much at dinner? It is not a problem because the summer hours of the numerous stores provide entertainment after a meal. You can walk along the streets of these towns, window shopping or picking up souvenirs for your friends back at home. Many of the buildings will have an architectural value to add to the experience.
