"The north end of Longboat Key is one of our favorite areas to relax in and this condo one of the best values we've found in the years we've been vacationing here. There is lots of green foliage, low key as well as low-rise with water all around, and the broad, white beach is a two minute stroll. We enjoyed this comfortable condo done in yellow, blue and persimmon colors with top quality furnishings and excellent beds. The loft was perfect for our visiting grandchildren. We most enjoyed the water view, only a stone's throw from the balcony with long-legged birds high stepping, fish jumping and an occasional pod of dolphin lazily cruising. The other folks in residence were so nice and inclusive, and the manager on-site was very helpful. The owners, too, were very available by phone if we had a question. We highly recommend this area and unit for a great stay!"

  • First boat vacation

"We had the best vacation ever! We just got a new boat and this was the perfect place to have our first fishing vacation. Jerry and Ilene were so nice and the townhouse was just right. They have thought of everything you need. The location is perfect to enjoy all that Orange Beach has to offer. It was so nice to have our boat right there. The layout of the townhouse was great for our two families. We enjoyed cooking our day's catch in the kitchen."

  • No complaints at all!

"I'm always very thorough when looking for a place for my family and I to stay over the internet, and this place is truly a 5 star condo. It was clean, everything was in working order, and the decor was wonderful. We loved the spaciousness, the comfort of the furniture/beds, dining with an excellent view. Yes, the view from the balcony is amazing and spacious as well. We loved the open kitchen as we ate together as a family, whether sitting at the bar or eating at the table. The pullout couch was comfy for my 9 year old. Closet space and drawer space was abundant. The big screen TV was a hit watching movies. We used the charcoal grill twice, there is a nice area to sit while grilling, and it's nicely shaded. There is a lighted tennis court in very good condition we used a couple times. The pool we used was clean, plenty of lounge chairs with awesome beach and pool view, and the provided chairs/umbrella on the beach was a wonderful amenity to this condo. It was so nice to meet the owner, Kent, who was wonderful and caring to rent through. Thank you for sharing your condo, keeping it so up to date/clean, and for the speedy return on the deposit. My family and I were very blessed to be able to spend the week together there. Thank you!"

  • Paradise!

"Wow! This is incredible! Words spoken as we walked into Kyle's condo! Everything was wonderful; the beds were very comfortable, kitchen had many pots, pans and dishes, the showers were terrific. We had breakfast on the balcony watching the waves come in. After hours on the beach we would head back to the condo for lunch and rest. Most afternoon the kids would venture to Lake Powell to catch crabs (yes, they caught three! we boiled them and had an appetizer) We could watch the kids 15 and 8 from the bedroom balcony. We drove into PCB and were so glad we did not stay in that mess of traffic and people. We really enjoyed being away from that and having the private beach. We tried snoballs at Davids and they are interesting. Loved the pizza at Buddys. One night we had steamed shrimp from Winn Dixie. Walked the pier in PCB and shopped at ate in Pier Park. The kids really liked the rides at Miracle Strip. All in all it was one of the most relaxing vacations we have ever had! It was so easy working with Kyle and as someone else mentioned the pictures do not show the true beauty of his condo! Hope to go back!"

Lake Superior Area Travel Tips

Getting to Lake Superior Vacation Rentals

Lake Superior forms part of the northern boundary with Canada. The southern shoreline lies in the states of Michigan and Wisconsin. The western shoreline is part of Minnesota. On the lake itself the major city is Duluth which is located on the far western tip of Lake Superior. If you are traveling from further afield and need to fly into the area, the nearest major airport is Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport. The Twin Cities are approximately 140 miles from Duluth and the drive up takes between two and three hours, depending on traffic and current road conditions. The Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport hosts regularly scheduled flights from most major cities in the United States and Canada. There are also frequent flight connections to regional and domestic airports. To get from the Twin Cities to the lake, most people choose to drive up. If flying in, you can hire a car from one of the many reputable car rental agencies located at the airport. Alternatively, you can also travel by rail up to Duluth and then along the lakeshore. This is one of the most scenic and enjoyable ways to travel to Lake Superior.

Visitors to Lake Superior Cottages

Lake Superior is arguably the least developed of the Great Lakes. The lakeshore is characterized by small towns and communities that are very seasonal. In the summer season, the population just about doubles if not more. Many families from the Twin Cities and surrounding areas travel to Lake Superior to spend their summer vacation there. It is an ideal family vacation destination. Many of the vacation homes are located on the lakeshore which means that you have easy access to the water to enjoy a variety of activities. Many homes have private jetties where you can moor your boat for the duration of your vacation. Large lawns and properties mean that you can enjoy games and different family fun activities without having to drive anywhere. Fish from right in front of your vacation home and enjoy outdoor barbecues with family and friends.

Seasons to Visit Lake Superior Cabins

Lake Superior is primarily a summer vacation destination. Many visitors move to the lakeshore for extended periods of time during the summer months. The season runs from early May through September. The busiest time of year is during June and July. If you are planning to travel during peak season, it is recommended that you make your holiday reservations well in advance as it gets booked up quickly. Summertime is also the ideal time for exploring the lakeshore. Particularly in Minnesota, there are numerous National Parks which have great hiking trails. Follow the lakeshore and explore waterfalls and forest areas. This is also a great time of year to enjoy mountain biking or horseback riding. Even though there are fewer visitors during the winter months, Lake Superior is a great place to visit if you want to hole up and enjoy the scenery. Most homes have large fireplaces and you can spend your days in front of the fire with a good book or good company.

Favorite Activities at Lake Superior

Lake Superior is an ideal fishing destination. You can enjoy your favorite sport from the lakeshore or charter a boat to head out to deeper waters. Even in the icy winter months, the weather doesn't stop the fishing enthusiasts. When the lake freezes over, they pull their ice fishing houses out onto the ice and continue to enjoy their favorite sport. Boating and other water sports are popular summertime activities.
