  • We love the music on Frenchmen - and great location to walk everywhere

"My husband and another couple spent a relaxing 4 nights in New Orleans in this condo. We get together for long weekends or short vacations every year and are already talking about returning to this condo! There is lots of space for two couples, great kitchen and WIFI, two large bedroom suites each with private bath, etc. Just what we needed. Plenty of good quality towels, sheets, wine glasses and kitchen supplies. The condo is close to the rapid transit line to connect to all parts of the city and a short walk to Bourbon Street. Our favorite was sitting on the huge balcony watching people and listening to the live music. The best live jazz clubs are within the same block, so you can listen all night on the balcony."

  • A month this time!

"I stayed here for a week with my son (I'm mid-70s, he's 50ish) last year, and enjoyed it so much that I booked it for a month, with two friends, this year. Our plan was to get away from the Iowa winter for a bit, returning on the first day of spring. We each claimed a "room": the person who needed to sleep in the daytime got the bedroom, the one who likes to stay up and watch TV had the sofabed in the living room, and the third set up a cot in the kitchen, using the additional cot mattresses to make a thicker cushion. Everyone was comfortable, although the cot wouldn't be suitable for a taller or much heavier person. The apartment was spotlessly clean and had all needed appliances, linens, etc. There was an extra TV in the bedroom. Both the heating and air conditioning worked well. Abundant hot water. On this lengthy stay, we took full advantage of the kitchen and laundry facilities, and enjoyed sitting on the patio (which certainly wasn't an option at home in the snow!). We traveled by train, and never felt that we needed a car. The neighborhood is great, with a convenience store, restaurants, and pubs within a short walk. If you are interested in architecture, it's fun just to wander about and look at the homes; if you're a jogger, the paved walk along the levee is perfect. The parks and levee have plenty of benches for more sedentary types to perch upon. Also close by is a glass blower's manufactory and shop; they offer an interesting instructional video, and you can see the crafters at work through glass windows at the rear of the store. I only had room for one item in my luggage, but they packed it so carefully that it arrived home unscathed. Should you be seeking a church, there are several nearby, both Catholic and Protestant. The tiny Mount Olivet Episcopal church building was constructed around 1850, entirely of cypress, and the small congregation is very friendly and welcoming. The larger churches looked beautiful. Whenever we wanted, we took the ferry across the river, with access to all the tourist attractions one could desire. We used the streetcars, city bus, and taxis to get around, finding the transportation costs quite reasonable. (I suspect that it would have been more expensive to park a car than to use public transit.) Dina is very responsive, and can be reached by email, text, or phone. I'd recommend the property to anyone, assuming they are fit enough to climb a few steepish steps. I'll be back!"

  • Fun stay and a great place

"Had a great time staying at Hickory Ridge Hideaway. Perfect for quick road trips at a low cost. Nice, clean place, and the owners are kind and responsive. The yard is big and was perfect for lawn games. Big fire pit for the cold nights. Would definitely recommend."

  • Perfect Location

"Our party of six could not have been more pleased with our location in the Garden District close to public transportation and the warm welcome from our gracious hostess with so much helpful information. Everything we needed was close by to include restaurants, an antique shop, a gelato shop, a drugstore, and the bus. We hope one day to return to New Orleans, and we would hope that this beautiful town home would be available."
