  • Charming Suite in an Ideal Location!

"We just returned from a 6-night stay at The Dryades Suite and would not hesitate to rent this stylish and comfortable suite again. My husband, my son (20 years old), and I loved living in this residential, uptown, location during our New Orleans vacation. We felt like residents ourselves, which is why we prefer to choose a VRBO rental when we travel. The design of the suite is set up so that there can be two, separate, sleeping and living areas; wooden, antique, sliding doors are installed for this purpose. This feature was key to being able to relax during our "down time". All furnishings were obviously chosen with care, and fit our needs very well. We visited a nearby Walgreens to pick up bottled water, drinks, and a few breakfast items, but that's all we needed. We appreciated the easy, on-street parking in front of the house. We chose to rent a car because we wanted to be able to make some side trips, if we had the time. The streetcar is a quick walk from the suite, and it is also a great option for touring. The Dryades Suite was exactly as advertised. We have only positive things to report about our communications with the owners and managers of this property. As an added bonus to our trip, we were treated to a street-wide, New Year's Eve celebration, complete with champagne, fireworks, and a party at the owner's house next door! What FUN! We couldn't have asked for a better display of New Orleans hospitality."

  • Excellent Gardent District Apartment

"Overall impression – Garden district apartment is a wonderful alternative to the French Quarter (we stayed a few days in both areas). Loft style apartment is large and comfortable. Highly recommend for location, relaxing atmosphere and service. Truly feel like a local staying in this area! Rental process –Melissa provides direct and detailed information for rental. Payment through VRBO. Thorough check-in/check-out instructions (how to access apartment building/keys to apartment) provided well before rental begins. Melissa follows up to questions quickly via email and phone. Apartment location – Tucked in with antique shops, unique stores and restaurants on Magazine as well as within a few blocks of quaint neighborhoods (some streets are part of Garden District tour!). Bus stops and street cars to French Quarter and along St. Charles Street are within walking distance. We felt safe walking at night in the area (some side streets have better lighting than others). Apartment building is secure through a locked door, entry way to a staircase for upstairs apartment. Apartment - VRBO description and pictures accurately reflect the modernly decorated rooms with high ceilings and comfortable furnishings. The apartment contains numerous paintings and interesting artwork. We thoroughly enjoyed the balcony for evening drinks and morning coffee. Even though the apartment is on Magazine, it is very quiet, particularly with the bedroom in the back. Apartment was clean and contained all the necessary items for an ideal stay. King bed is firm and comfortable, feather pillows and nice linens – large closet. Reliable wifi, multiple channel cable TV, variety of dishes/glassware - kitchen is well equipped to cook, if interested. The Garden District apartment is a wonderful place to relax with access to a variety of opportunities for site seeing (e.g., Lafayette Cemetery), great food and shopping yet an easy streetcar ride to the French Quarter – best of both!"

  • Beautiful historic gem!

"I could not have envisioned such a lovely property for our first trip together to New Orleans. I'd looked at hotels and other rentals but none seemed to have the charm nor character of this place. The pictures definitely do not do it justice! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I've been telling everyone I know about it. The owner made some spot on recommendations for coffee and dining which certainly added to the enjoyment of our trip. The only recommendation I might suggest to fellow travelers who are also light sleepers is to bring some medicine to help you sleep. Since the property is on a popular street, the occasional siren or bus driving by and people talking as they walked down the sidewalk woke us occasionally. Please hear me say this: when doing an overall assessment, that minor detail would not deter me from returning. The bed was comfy, the bathrooms were quaint and the flat-screen tv with built-in dvd player provided us a nice way to unwind on our last night. We will definitely be back!"
