"We absolutely loved it. The location is ideal. We found unique shops and restaurants within walking distance - anything on Magazine St. and short stroll to St. Charles trolley - no driving necessary. The apartment was an excellent home-base. I highly recommend."

  • Charming Double in a Great Neighborhood

"This was our first trip to New Orleans, and we wanted something more unique than a hotel/motel. I found this property on VRBO, and was immediately intrigued. In all honesty, the price caught my attention before all else. It wasn't until we got there that we realized just how amazing the price really was. We were pleased with the house from the moment we pulled up. The neighborhood is inviting, and the house is something we don't commonly see where we're from. When you walk in, you immediately understand what a shotgun is. Each room leads to the next in a flowing fashion. Both parlor rooms were sizable and accommodating. There are two twin-sized day beds, one in each of the first two parlors. In the bedroom, there is a queen-sized, 4-post, Victorian-style bed. My wife and I won the coin toss, and were awarded the bed. There is a memory foam mattress top that makes it one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in. Careful, it's very high - something we are not used to. The bathroom is...well...a bathroom. It has a toilet, sink, and shower, and is stocked with plenty of towels. The kitchen is simple. It does include a refrigerator, microwave, and toaster oven. There is also a hotplate burner for a single pot/pan meal. Of course there is a sink for cleaning up after yourself. There is a coffee pot, but we found it unusable. For two reasons really: 1) someone had left the warmer on, and the glass urn had crystallized, and 2) the coffee shop was just too close and good. Our only suggestion would be a little more/comfortable seating room. The only furniture are the 3 beds, a small chair, and 4 or 5 kitchen-table style chairs. While we didn't spend much time in the house, when we were there, the 4 of us played musical chairs, alternating to stay comfortable. After a long day of walking to the FQ and all around town, we just wanted to relax. This "issue" was minimal, and would never keep us from staying here again. The location is perfect. It's in Mid-City, about 1.5 miles north of the French Quarter. We stayed in the area quite a bit, dining at Liuzza's and having drinks at Pal's. On our second day, we walked - that's right, walked - to the French Quarter. It's pretty much a straight shot down there. At no point did we ever feel unsafe; however, we probably wouldn't make the trek during the nighttime hours. Gary was a gracious host, and very welcoming. If you are looking for an authentic experience, this is it!"

  • Beautiful and peaceful

"Our stay at this private dwelling was not long enough! I needed a place to recoup from a medical procedure and this was just what we needed. Owners were helpful and we enjoyed the time that was spent explaining some history of the area. Beautiful copper counters, giant dining table, comfortable beds, roomy and 2 bathrooms. Thanks for your hospitality and sharing the bounty from your land. Betty Ann"

  • Nice place

"Condo is very nice. was clean and very well stocked. We were hoping for more actual waterfront instead of just on the canal but it was lovely. Unit is on second floor without an elevator so disabled or elderly should be aware. Parking is immediately at bottom of stairs which was nice. Easy access to all major highways without being right on the highways. Several nice restaurants nearby."
