  • Beautiful immaculate house, CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN, but lack of attention to minor details

"First I want to commend owners Tom and Chuck for the beautiful furnishings and spotless condition of the house; this exceeded our expectations and everyone was highly impressed with the accommodations and how well-kept and clean this old house is. We had 11 ladies stay here for my mother's birthday celebration, and the space was perfect for us. Everything considered, would I stay here again? Absolutely. However, there were also some negatives that I feel compelled to report, if for no other reason than to alert them to improve the experience for future guests. First, nobody was there to greet us upon our arrival. We kept on knocking, and apparently he was in the backyard doing work and didn't hear us, and we couldn't get inside. (shouldn't work be done prior to our arrival? It would've been nice if someone was there to greet us) Although the fridge has a water dispenser, it had a gross taste and was undrinkable; a gallon of water in the fridge for us to drink would also be nice. In addition, no sugar or milk for our morning coffee. I realize this isn't a B&B, but these are little things that would've made our stay more pleasant (and from reading reviews of other NOLA properties on VRBO, not out of the ordinary). None of us are from NOLA, so leaving a list of taxi companies, grocery stores, and local wine shops would've also been helpful. This house is close to Frenchman St, but it is a stretch of the legs to get to the heart of the FQ. We did it, but if you don't need this much space and such a fancy house, a smaller house closer to the quarter would be preffered. In addition, communication wasn't great before our arrival; my aunt left several msgs for the owner(s) concerning having a caterer deliver to the house. When he didn't respond and our arrival date was getting close, she arranged for Whole Foods to deliver. When he finally called back, he gave her an attitude and told her he could've had it catered for less. He also offered to do a flower arrangement and said he would only charge us for the flowers. (you can't put a small vase of wildflowers in a vase, gratis, upon our arrival?) Dining rm table was also a bit tight for 11 people, and there is really nowhere else to sit to eat in the house. Also no extra towels provided, and no hair dryers. A few small details that added up, would've made a difference, but I would still recommend staying here. KUDOS to the cleaning lady! SPOTLESS! Beds comfy & nice bathrooms. LOVE NoLa!"

  • Jazz Fest 2014!

"Our group arrived on Wednesday for the 2nd week of Jazz Fest and were quickly greeted with a warm reception by Kelly, Mark and Percival Winston (their pup)! Everything was setup for a great start including a nice cooler filled with refreshments! Kelly stopped by each day to check in to see how our trip had been going and offered up great suggestions to the neighborhood and NOLA in general. We also enjoyed the neighborhood...there are many little restaurants, bars and local music vensues in walking distance. Each room was very clean, warm and inviting. We were so pleased with our stay and hope to return next year!"

  • Wonderful family stay in New Orleans

"Our family of 5-6 had the most perfect stay at the house on Desire St. We were there for 4 nights and the issue of the privacy worked out much better than we had thought it might. The house is so elegant, lovely, comfortable and well equipped and we also loved the neighborhood. We went to several of the suggested restaurants and I even found a couple of grocery stores to stock up in. We did have a car and it was useful since we had to attend functions in other neighborhoods, but there is also public busses available and taxies of course. We had fun and enjoyed the visiting chickens and cats as well when we hung out on the front porch. Would recommend the place highly to anyone at all."

  • Great Location; Awesome Home!

"We really enjoyed our stay at this home. It had great charm and beautiful tall ceilings throughout, plus the location was wonderful for enjoying the French Quarter and the Marigny. We also loved the little screened patio out back. We had just a few quibbles-- the downstairs got chilly in the evenings, the bathrooms lacked soap or shampoo for the showers, and the bed was not the most comfortable-- but overall we'd definitely recommend the place and stay there again (bringing our own shampoo and pillows next time!). Our stay was especially great because the property owner allowed us to arrange a late check-in and late check-out due to our travel times and was overall extremely accommodating. I'd recommend this place for couples traveling together or a family with kids/teens because the bedroom areas are very separate and private. The upstairs loft is a nice area to lounge and totally separate from the downstairs bedroom. We loved the place and hope to return to New Orleans again sometime and stay there again!"
