    "Great place to stay if you are looking for a quiet and restful environment. We loved the use of the boat . We paddled all around, catching our limit every day. We loved having the large front yard, the washing machine and dryer, and the shaded spaces . Only wish there would have need water at the fish cleaning station! But it all worked out and we will be making a return trip!"

This is also a nesting area for bald eagles and fortunate visitors will be able to watch these incredible birds fishing here. Situated on US Highway 171 is Hodges Gardens Sate Park. Here visitors can enjoy 700 acres of a variety of plants and flowers, including a formal rose garden and a variety of Japanese Red Maple trees. The park features pools, waterfalls, fountains and even a geyser. Interesting features of this park are the rock formations which were originally uncovered during the park's early life as a mining and logging area.

Also nearby is the Adai Indian Nation Cultural Center. This historic site gives visitors the opportunity to experience the life of the native inhabitants of the area. There is a variety of dwellings, as well as exhibitions of ancient arts and crafts. There is also an historic Catholic church which is the oldest church in the Louisiana Purchase, marking the tribe’s conversion to Catholicism. The oldest town of the Louisiana Purchase is Fort St. Jean Baptiste State Historic Site, where a replica of the original 1732 fort has been constructed.
