"Clean, well supplied, though not what we would call a cottage. Furnishings are a bit formal. Not a place for the young folk to run wild. Bathroom small, but the washer and dryer were great. Though we were not expecting a grill, we were happy to find a small Weber which we used 2 nights! We would recommend additional outdoor seating(currently 2 chairs), though the mosquitos will drive you in. Location relative to Winter Harbor, Schoodic Pennisula and Grindstone Neck was perfect! We biked and kayaked and ate a very affordable yummy meal at the Pickled Wrinkle. Bought lobsters at Corea Lobsterman's Coop...right off the boat! Looking for Maine not over run with tourists? Head to Winter Harbor."

"My sister and I have rented houses all over MDI for the past few years. Sow's Ear is by far one of the best we have rented. The house was clean upon arrival, the kitchen was well stocked with everything to prepare meals, the beds were really comfortable, and there were no plumbing or heating problems. The house and yard were such that the house has lots of privacy and is quiet. There are multiple options for locations around the house to enjoy reading apart from the activities in the living room. The furniture is very comfortable! There's reliable internet and a nice office to work in if you need to. The location is perfect for access to the carriage trails at Brown Gatehouse as well as the Stanley Brook entrance to ANP, Jordan Pond and the Loop Road. The Northeast Harbor/Seal Harbor area has the most beautiful houses on the island, so the drive home to the rental is always a treat. The owners were the most responsive we've had the pleasure of dealing with so far. They are as charming as the house itself. We really enjoyed this rental, and you will too."

"We enjoyed our stay at this clean, private, quiet apartment in a beautiful location. Bass Harbor was a short walk as were some of the National Park sites. There are beautiful views from the private beach. Owners were very friendly and accommodating. All in all, it served us well as a quiet, relaxing home base as we visited may sites on the island. We would definitely stay there again."

"One word.....WOW! This was our first family vacation to Maine and it was unforgettable! The Cottage on the Bay was heavenly with its breathtaking views of the bay! We enjoyed kayaking and canoeing everyday and enjoying the serenity and beauty of the surroundings. It was fun to watch the curious harbor seals in the bay and see the bald eagles flying overhead as we paddles through the water. We have never experienced such a peaceful, relaxing vacation. The cottage was gorgeous, immaculate, and perfect for our family. It was well decorated and so well stocked with kitchen supplies, pantry staples, cleaning products, condiments, paper products etc. Tina even had yummy blueberry muffins waiting for us upon our arrival as well as fresh picked blueberries and smore's supplies which we promptly enjoyed by the outdoor grill/fireplace. The Cottage by the Bay is a quick drive to the quaint town of Ellsworth, Maine where we enjoyed the Main Street shops, Jordan's snack bar (great burgers, shakes, and ice cream), as well as the scenic Tidal Falls. It was also conveniently located (45 minute drive) to Acadia National Park which is heaven on earth!! We hope to come back to Maine someday and we will definitely stay at the Cottage on the Bay."
