"My husband and I spent a week at the Knollette and it was absolutely perfect. The house itself is very well-appointed - comfortable, attractive, cozy, with everything we needed. It was a great place to come home to after canoeing, hiking, and eating lobster (LOTS of lobster). The size and space were perfect for the two of us and all our gear (including bike and canoe). And the location is spot on. The house itself, located in a wooded section of a dead-end road near the causeway, feels very private, but it is within easy walking distance of Beal's Lobster Pier (did I mention lobster?) as well as the great restaurants in Southwest Harbor. It was close to all the places we wanted to hike and paddle, and the ability to walk to town for dinner and ice cream made every evening so relaxing. Really, the perfect vacation rental."

"What a wonderfully private place! We stayed at cottage Two which had everything imaginable to make our
stay comfortable and relaxing. After a day in Bar Harbor, it was so nice to come back to the "quiet side" of
the island. The Park Loop with its many beautiful vistas and Jordan Pond House (be sure to order their famous popovers) along the Loop made for a very pleasant day. We enjoyed driving out to Bass Harbor and
Southwest Harbor where there are beautiful views and a couple of short, easy hikes along the water.
When we first decided to visit Acadia, we were sure that we wanted to be in town (where the action was)
but after we chose and saw Hodgdon Pond Farm we quickly realized that was the place for us! Thank you,
Barbara for sharing your wonderful cottage with us. We highly recommend it."

"We stayed here for a week and it was fantastic. The house was very clean and comfortable and had a fantastic view from the front porch. We had everything we needed and the owners were very accommodating. We couldn't get the DVD player to function properly and they had replaced by the next day. Castine is a one of a kind town. Scenic and quiet with just enough to keep you busy. The car traffic is minimal and there is a wonderful 2 mile loop you can walk, jog, or bike on without worrying. The house was within walking distance to the grocery store and other restaurants in the quaint town. We loved it and plan to return next summer."

"Cannot say enough about the wonderful time we had in Maine. Before our arrival, Bob answered all of our questions about the area and gave us lots of ideas of things to do. We highly recommend Blunt's pond (just a couple of miles from the cottage) for swimming since the water in front of the house was too cold to enjoy. We arrived to fresh blueberry scones and a gorgeous view. We rented a canoe for our family of 6 because the kayak rental prices were a bit steep. Bob gave us excellent advice on when to enjoy the canoe the most, mornings and evenings. We spent so much time exploring the ever-changing beach in front of the cottage finding snails, fish, crabs, mussels, and a sea star. We were even lucky enough to see a seal up close two evenings when we canoed out to Googin's ledge. We spent most of our daytime hiking in Acadia with our 4 children varying in ages from 1 to 13. The Ocean Path was perfect for our family because we could push the baby stroller up on the path while the older children climbed on the rocks down below. The path around Jordan's Pond was another of our favorites. You can enjoy an easy 3 mile path or choose to hike up to Bubble Rock half way around. Another highlight of our stay was enjoying a LuLu Lobster tour at low tide. We saw lots of seals and Captain John did an excellent job of sharing his knowledge of lobstering.
We enjoyed dinner on the deck most evenings and our last evening Barb brought us a cup of fresh picked blueberries from their back yard. Delicious!
The days were warm and the evenings cool. We slept with the windows open and awoke to the sight of lobster boats heading out to check their traps in the morning. Truly an unforgettable experience!"
