"This was the perfect place for my husband and I, who live very busy work days all the time to just get away and enjoy peace and quiet. The deck is large and has beautiful views at sunrise and sunset. The house is very clean and functional with all the appliances and accessories you need - just bring your clothes and shop for food. We had a great down time."

"Our family recently rented the Hetzer House and we could not have been happier. The house was everything we hoped for and the layout was perfect (one note is that one bedroom is accessible through another – wasn’t a problem for us). In addition the cleaning crew did an amazing job and the house was spotless. Although we didn't have the best weather the area was beautiful and during the rainy times we had plenty to do in the house (Internet, board games, books, DVD/VHS movies)! Our kids (age 1 and 3) loved the baskets of toys and kid books - such an unexpected surprise! Tracy was awesome to work with and was very responsive. We would definitely rent this house again when we return to Acadia. Thank you for sharing your home with us!"

Full of character, historic, comfortable home - key location to explore region.
"If you are planning a trip to the Blue Hill peninsula and/or Acadia National Park/Mount Desert Island, I highly recommend that you consider staying at the historic Parker House located just minutes from the quaint town center of Blue Hill. The home is filled with antiques and art and has a very special feel of another era to it - and is quiet, clean, comfortable, and creates an atmosphere of relaxation after days filled with exploration of this scenic region. We felt honored to be able to stay in such an amazing home and staying here really made our trip that much more memorable and special. During previous visits, I have stayed in Bar Harbor. The pace and feeling of the Blue Hill peninsula is different than on Mount Desert Island - less touristy and more laid back (at least in mid-September). We stayed for 3 nights and explored the historic and charming town of Castine, the Blue Hill peninsula, and Deer Isle/Stonington, the Schoodic peninsula (the quieter and less visited part of Acadia National Park, and parts of Acadia NP). One evening, I was thrilled that at 9pm on Sand Beach in Acadia NP, I was able to capture a great photo of the Milky Way and, at 10:30pm, I was at the Parker House dining room table, toasting the occasion by candlelight. If you're looking for a home rental that will add a special ambiance to your trip, consider the Parker House."

The best waterfront vacation rental in Stonington Maine
"The best waterfront vacation rental
home in Stonington, Maine is "The Stronghold." We used this home as our central headquarters for our 35th wedding anniversary, family vacation. The owner has gone to great effort to make this home an exceptional beauty and the most memorable resort experience. Standing amongst neighboring, gray siding homes stands this magnificent, recently renovated masterpiece. Located on a private lane on Stonington's waterfront, you are welcomed with an inviting back porch, complete with conversational chairs, windchimes, and croquet for the manicured front or rear yard gaming. The waterfront has a magnificent quarried stone bulkhead and flowering landscaped yard, with two kayaks waiting for you to explore the harbor a nearby islands.
The owner, Sallie Strong, has literally thought of everything. Both a gas grill and charcoal grill are on site waiting for your cooking preference. Typically Maine rentals in this area are austere. However this home has Wi-Fi, multiple TVs with DVDs or cable. The duel kitchens were especially useful for our multi families' food storage, prep and cleanup. The main kitchen even has a trash compactor. There are multiple indoor and outdoor rooms for relaxing, watching the lobster boats in the harbor, and enjoying leisurely or formal meals.
We admired the decorating as every niche had a unique curio, painting, photo or nautical artifact to admire. The bright room colors and comfortable beds were specially inviting.
We have rented four different homes on Deer Isle in recent years. While this home was the most expensive to rent, it was by far the best value. Given the ideal location, the amenities, and the overall experience, I would highly recommend it."
