  • Tern II - a place to just breathe in the salt air, balsam fir and quiet

"This is our 4th(?) stay at Tern II? Dear Newbolds, I can't remember :) - it's all blending together - all the beauty, the birds, the air, the ocean, the house, the books - like one of Jacqueline's wonderful watercolors, it's transcendent.....Heaven on Earth..... it was a wonderful 2 weeks in your comfy home, again :).... thank you so much for sharing...we love it - thanks, ya'll from the bottom of our hearts :) Clan Aguirre, Texas"

  • Quirky cottage in woodland setting

"The cottage lived up to our expectations - in a delightful woodland setting with a glimpse of Fields Pond. We were greeted by the owner's son on arrival, who gave us useful information, including how to get Wi-Fi access (it was a bit erratic, but we found we could get a better signal by sitting outside on the deck). The cottage itself was full of quaint artefacts (a few too many for my husband's taste), and some of the items of furniture were made from what looked like locally crafted wood. We were grateful for the window screens, as being in the trees and close to the pond there were a number of insects flying around. This kept us in during the evening, which was a shame as we would have liked to have dined on the deck occasionally. Well-equipped for self-catering, though we missed not having a kettle. We were invited to use the laundry facilities at another of the properties on site, which we found very useful as our week at Loon Hollow was only half-way through a ten-week trip . We were disappointed not to see any wild life (not even the loons), and during our stay the pond was too rough for us to take advantage of the kayaks on loan. However, all in all we had a very pleasant and relaxing stay and would certainly recommend the Well House to any couples wanting an "away from it all" experience and families with older children who would enjoy climbing the ladder and sleeping in the loft."

  • Amazing Family Celebration!

"We enjoyed our week with both of our sons' families, which included twin thirteen year old girls and infants 9 and 13 months. This lovely home is comfortable and was equipped to accommodate all of our needs! Everything that was promised materialized including blueberries for breakfast! We could not have been happier or more pleased!"

  • The total package !

"We're just back from our week in Southwest Harbor and we were blown away by the location of this house. The view overlooking the Bay , the dock , the ''cozyness'' of the house , it all adds up to a perfect vacation. Being there early september , we got some not so warm mornings , but the stove more than make up for this situation. We spent some good times , sitting in front of the Bay , with some ''treasure'' hunting while the tide was low ! It was our second trip to Mount Desert Island and one of the main reason we came back was the Acadia National Park. What a great place , with out of this world scenic views and all kinds of trails for all hikers. Steve , the owner , is so caring , he will make your stay a lot easier. Always available , he did , in the weeks leading to our stay , send us weekly brochure about things to do in the area. Can't ask for more ! Thank you. I will not hesitate to recommend this house , particularly if you're a nature lover."

Brooklin Travel Tips

Brooklin Vacation Rentals Offer a Relaxing Getaway

Brooklin is a quaint village where visitors come to escape the bustle of every day life. The best Brooklin lodging options are Brooklin vacation rentals. Rentals provide a sort of home away from home feel for vacationers and normally offer an array of amenities to choose from. The Acadia cottages are an excellent choice, especially when you want the privacy and space needed to truly relax during your trip.

Book a Sailing Charter

A popular past time in Brooklin is sailing. The view of Blue Hill Bay and the surrounding landscape is unrivaled during a sailing day trip. Some vacationers choose to bring their own sailboat to store at the Brooklin vacation rentals when they aren't out on the water. Other vacationers prefer to book a sailing charter with a local company such as Brooklin Charters. Make your sailing trip even more enjoyable by bringing along a tasty lunch or supper to enjoy on the water.

Enjoying the Local Cuisine

When staying at the Brooklin vacation rentals, you will likely want to eat most of your meals on your cottage patio. Making your own meals during a vacation is a great way to save money and enjoy the company of friends and loved ones. If you prefer to dine out, there are a few local restaurants such as Morning Moon Café and The Lookout that offer great food and a relaxed atmosphere.

Hiking Near Brooklin Lodging

The landscape surrounding Brooklin vacation rentals is breathtaking. One trail that you will want to hike during your stay is the School to the Sea Walking Trail. The trail is 3.5 miles long and worth every step. You can also just wander along the bay surrounding the Acadia cottages for a morning walk or evening stroll.
