  • Vacation Time in Maine

"we had an excellent time @ the cabin. very clean, had everything that we needed with no problems to speak of except that we wished that the time did not go by so fast. we met the owner Matthew, very polite and wanted to make sure that everything was in order for our stay. if and when I ever return to Maine I would most likely check to see if this cabin is available. thank you Matthew for letting us stay @ your cabin."

  • Heaven on earth - the perfect family vacation

"I hesitate to write such a glowing review, as I'd love to keep this place a secret, but the owners deserve to receive their accolades. Staying in this house felt like we were welcomed with open arms into another family. Everything you could need and want was provided, including a full gallon of milk and eggs in the fridge, which came in handy for breakfast Sunday, as we arrived late Saturday evening, without time to shop. Clean, well-maintained, with all the hidden treasures in shells, books, interesting lamps, videos, pictures, knick knacks, bread boxes, cozy comforters and quilts, etc. to keep one surprised and pampered. Lawn well-kept,nice grill outside, babbling brook across street, gorgeous cove below with peaceful views, situated on a very quiet an peaceful dead end, miles from the hubbub of life, surounded by moss, pine trees, and ferns (my 3 favorite green things!) And minutes from the Holbrook Island Sanctuary. Very accommodating owners in that they allowed our 7 year old golden retriever to enjoy the house and property as well, and she loved sitting outside taking in the smells beauty too! We didn't go kayaking, but easily could have. Met neighbors who are relatives, and they recommended the lumberjack show on the way to Acadia and freshwater Walker Pond.Giant blueberry field to pick your own for free on the way to the pond. Lots of fun. Helpful, good, trustworthy people all around. Doesn't get any better in Maine in August, I'm sure! Would love to return some day soon! Be sure to visit Blue Hill, Stonington and Isle au Haut, Acadia, Walkers Pond. Wish we had gone to see puffins or seals, and rented kayaks. Perhaps next time!"

  • Great Getaway

"We loved our time at this cozy getaway. It is a welcoming and secluded retreat that offers the tranquility we sought as well as access to nearby adventures that made our vacations memorable. The sunsets from the porch are inspiring. We have returned time and again to this lovely cottage. Over the years we have hiked all through Acadia National Park. In nearby Blue HIll we have enjoyed kids programs at the Marine Environmental Research Institute and chamber music concerts at Kneisel Hall. Our dog once even participated in the Ark Animal Shelter Dog Show and got a ribbon! I know we will return year after year for picnics on rocky beaches, kayaking the Bagaduce river and gazing at the star-filled night sky."

  • As Beautiful as Staying in the National Park

"We stayed in Grace's cottage in Sept 2013, and had a wonderful time. The cottage is so close to so much, but on the other hand, why go anywhere when the view at the cottage is as spectacular as any in the National Park. Her dock is overlooking the beautiful bay, with the mountains in the backdrop - a million dollar view that you can spend the entire meditating over. If you do want to go to Acadia park (our reason for being in the area), it is a very easy drive, and once there, the Rangers have so many programs to keep you amazed. And if you want to stay closer to home, there are many quaint towns, farmer markets, and sights to see. And did i mention the great lobster? The cabin has all you need, and is very clean. We would recommend this cabin to all. We will be back."
