"I stayed at The River House a couple of weeks ago with my mom, sister, and six-year-old niece. We couldn’t have picked a nicer place for our vacation. The house is in town but tucked away off of a private road. While we were there, we felt as if we were in some faraway, secluded retreat; but the convenience of shopping, restaurants, tourist attractions etc. was only minutes away. The house itself is gorgeous; it is evident that a lot of love and care has gone into maintaining this home. And it is stocked with all of the essentials that you might need, plus some extras. We arrived to find fresh flowers and a basket with maple syrup and pancake mix on the island in the kitchen. Joe and Sue also supplied us with enough coffee to get us through the entire week. Also, the views from the house are amazing and the grounds made me just want to sit and relax and take in all of the beautiful scenery. One of my favorite parts of the whole trip was getting up early in the morning and having my coffee on a little bench that is tucked away at the end of one of the trails, overlooking the river. All in all, The River House was the highlight of our trip; and our only regret was that we did not spend more time there!"

"This cottage was the perfect place to unwind. Everything we could want was there for us: beautiful sunsets, quiet, high and low tides, wood burning stove, fully equipped kitchen. Add to that easy access to Blue Hill and Acadia National Park. We loved every moment."

"The view is magnificent from this tiny cottage...as is the heated pool. The furnishings leave a lot to be desired. It is clean and uncomfortable. If you are readers and like a comfortable couch, chair, or good light at the bedside, do not rent this property. A hard futon serves as the couch, bedside lighting is inadequate. The kitchen is weak with a very tiny fridge with VERY cheap and old PLASTIC dishes and flatware. Barely two feet of counter space.. Nice bath but TINY old sink... No AC. FANTASTIC PORCH AND VIEW.
Owner is very nice and helpful, property is located well away from the mess of cheesy downtown.. Very close to Acadia, which is wonderful...
So, if you don't cook much, and don't sit and read, this would be ideal.."

"From my first visit three summers ago I felt like I was coming home as I drove down the lane to this bit of paradise by the sea. Each visit has held its own wonderful gifts. The view is beyond spectacular and for me nothing beats watching the water, mountains & sky as they change throughout the day. This year's surprise was seeing a bald eagle fly over the beach twice and once over my head as I sat on the deck! Dee has created a comfortable oasis where one can step away from the bustle of life, yet have easy access to Blue Hill, Ellsworth & Acadia National Park. One of my dreams is to return to experience the area as things start to slow down with the hint of autumn in the air. Thank you Dee for sharing this home away from home!"
