spectacular Maine coast retreat
"We enjoyed a superb week at this home. Our group was a family reunion with 10 adults and 4 children, and we fit pretty well, although some of the kids slept on the floor in sleeping bags and in a travel crib.
The location is quiet and private, a mile from a sleepy fishing village and right on the water. The views are unmatched and the house is set up to showcase the views with a huge wraparound porch, 2nd floor porch off of the master suite, and lots of comfortable deck furniture. We rented kayaks from Acadia 1 Kayaks (also highly recommend!), which delivered to the house, and spent most mornings paddling up and down the harbor. We saw seals, bald eagles, and a variety of waterfowl. There are a few neighbors down the road, but we only saw them from our kayaks as we were paddling back to the house. Although 30 minutes from Ellsworth and 60 minutes from Bar Harbor, the house is very close to Schoodic Point, Winter Harbor, and Prospect Harbor, which are worth exploring and offer much beyond the overdeveloped side of Acadia.
The kitchen is well equipped with many items I didn't expect to find including a spice cabinet and muffin tins. There is a large easy to use gas grill on the back porch.
The master suite is expansive and has unbelievable views of Prospect harbor. The two downstairs bedrooms with queen beds are spacious with private baths. The other two downstairs bedrooms (bunk bed and twin rooms) are quite small, but adequately furnished.
The bathrooms are all up to date and comfortable. There is no bath tub (only showers).
The sauna is great, we got it up to 200 degrees and used it most evenings.
The two living rooms are adequate. The sofas and chairs are not super comfy as mentioned in prior reviews, but to be honest this was one of the few minuses, and didn't factor much into our stay, as we spent most of the daytime outside hiking and boating."

Full of character, historic, comfortable home - key location to explore region.
"If you are planning a trip to the Blue Hill peninsula and/or Acadia National Park/Mount Desert Island, I highly recommend that you consider staying at the historic Parker House located just minutes from the quaint town center of Blue Hill. The home is filled with antiques and art and has a very special feel of another era to it - and is quiet, clean, comfortable, and creates an atmosphere of relaxation after days filled with exploration of this scenic region. We felt honored to be able to stay in such an amazing home and staying here really made our trip that much more memorable and special. During previous visits, I have stayed in Bar Harbor. The pace and feeling of the Blue Hill peninsula is different than on Mount Desert Island - less touristy and more laid back (at least in mid-September). We stayed for 3 nights and explored the historic and charming town of Castine, the Blue Hill peninsula, and Deer Isle/Stonington, the Schoodic peninsula (the quieter and less visited part of Acadia National Park, and parts of Acadia NP). One evening, I was thrilled that at 9pm on Sand Beach in Acadia NP, I was able to capture a great photo of the Milky Way and, at 10:30pm, I was at the Parker House dining room table, toasting the occasion by candlelight. If you're looking for a home rental that will add a special ambiance to your trip, consider the Parker House."

"We stayed at Acadia Meadow for 4 nights and it was a great fit for us.
Suze and Tod were very friendly and helpful. We really appreciated and enjoyed the items from their garden.
Acadia Meadow is very clean and a great place to relax and be able to cook meals. As mentioned by others they have thought of everything to make it a wonderful stay.
It is close to Acadia National Park and far enough away from the busyness of Bar Harbor.
We would highly recommend Acadia Meadow for a quiet, relaxing place to stay with great hosts."

Wonderful House , great location and fantastic owners!
"My husband and I had a rental in Bar Harbor double book us , letting us know about it last minute. We had to scramble to find a place to stay and thankfully this fantastic place happened to have an opening for the four days we needed. I can't say enough about the owners here. Jan was so accommodating and such a pleasure to talk to. There is also a restaurant they owned literally down the drive of the home that was delicious and perfect to have so close by. The home was spotless and decorated giving it a very homey feel. Usually we ALWAYS bring our own bed linens on our vacations but this is the first time we didn't use them because we completely trusted that everything was clean and comfy. Jan gave us great suggestions for our time there and we were pinching ourselves to be staying in such a nice place with such a beautiful view of the ocean from the upper deck. We have never stayed in the same place twice but if we go back to Maine I will be booking this place again well in advance, we adored it so. Thank you Jan and Karen for making our anniversary vacation so perfect !
