  • Quiet, beautiful, escape from the city!

"My daughter and I joined friends at this brand new, perfectly decorated, sleepy seaside home. The beds were comfortable, all the amenities one needs are there, the location was ideally situated with a view of the water from all the big windows, a delightful wraparound porch for kicking back and watching the scenery. There was a wonderful farmers market around the corner and around another corner was the heart of the town. Many shops, restaurants, the harbor where you can take a ferry to Deer Isle (not to be missed), the Lobster, it was all wonderful! We swam, we hiked, we walked all over and the people were friendly. The town of Stonington is a painters heaven and this house was the perfect perch to see it from!"

  • Lovely Home - Beautiful Sunsets

"My friends and I spent a week at Woodberry Cottage, and had a wonderful, relaxing time in a beautiful setting with all the amenities of home. The cottage was clean & well maintained, and the owners provided brochures & maps for area activities. During our stay we visited Acadia National Park, Nervous Nellie's Jams & Jellies, local galleries & shops. We spent a lovely day on Eagle Island, a night stargazing at Pine Hill, and dined at several area restaurants to include Barncastle in Blue Hill & McKay's in Bar Harbor. Of course, the cottage was equipped with everything we needed to enjoy a home cooked meal, and then watch a favorite movie or play a friendly game of cards or Mahjong afterwards. The screened in porch was a great place to chat & still enjoy the outdoors; and going down to the shore and watching the sun set was spectacular. I would highly recommend Woodberry Cottage to anyone looking for an enjoyable, worry free vacation."

  • Waterside Home in the Woods

"My husband and I have been to Maine at least 12 times over the years, and we were lucky enough to stay at this house, along with another couple, on our most recent visit. What a perfect setting! It's tucked into the pine-scented woods, yet footsteps from the rocky coast. The house itself is bright, clean, uncluttered and well equipped. Soft sheets and fluffy towels, as well as all kitchen necessities, are supplied. Highlights of our visit include sitting on the deck, sipping coffee at sunrise and wine at sunset; watching bald eagles and ospreys circle above throughout the day; spotting a seal swimming in the cove at high tide, coming up for air and then going back down again; sitting on a rock at the water's edge at low tide, reading a book and blissing out; buying soft-shell lobsters in Stonington and steamers up the road, cooking them up and feasting at the dining room table, with a backdrop of woods and water out the windows. We were lucky enough to be visiting on a couple of clear, moonless nights. The view of the star-filled sky through the skylight right above our bed (in the upstairs room) was amazing; one night we saw three meteors before we finally fell asleep. Also, the upstairs bathroom has some beautiful, very happy houseplants, and the shower is wonderful--roomy, with big windows (don't worry, no one can see inside). Be sure to drive slowly on the unpaved road leading to the house. On our second day, a neighbor called because she feared we were exceeding the 10 mph speed limit. Also, the wi-fi is so slow that we called in "no-fi" and cell reception is only slightly better. But that's okay, as long as you realize you're here to relax and unplug, not to work remotely. There's satellite TV, but it had few offerings and was difficult to figure out (maybe that's just us?). No premium channels, difficult to even find any national news. But there are plenty of excellent books on the shelves, board games to play, naps to take... The only thing that spoiled our tranquility, I'm sorry to say, were the neighborhood dogs. They barked pretty consistently and their voices echoed from around 5:30 a.m. to late at night. We tried to tune them out, but... I would definitely recommend this house to anyone looking for a wicked good time in Maine!"

  • Winter Getaway

"We headed north from Boston after a crazy holiday season and stayed at this lovely farmhouse cottage on Deer Isle. We didn't know what to expect off season, but as we drove over the DI Bridge, and then over the very picturesque causeway that leads to the island, we were already charmed. The farm house exceeded our expectations; well appointed, tasteful and full of country charm. The surrounding pastures and next door conservation lands were beautiful. From the cottage, the winter views of the ocean were spectacular. We cozied up to the wood stove read books and made our favorite meals in the well stocked kitchen. Though the weather was nippy, each day we headed out on a Nature Heritage Trust walk through the woods, or along the ocean front. Beautiful views everywhere. We celebrated New Year Eve at a wonderful restaurant - the Arbor View Inn. This is reported to be one of the best restaurants in the entire state of Maine, and we'd heartily agree. If you want a true Down East experiences this family cottage is the perfect place to spend a week - or maybe two or three?"
