spectacular Maine coast retreat
"We enjoyed a superb week at this home. Our group was a family reunion with 10 adults and 4 children, and we fit pretty well, although some of the kids slept on the floor in sleeping bags and in a travel crib.
The location is quiet and private, a mile from a sleepy fishing village and right on the water. The views are unmatched and the house is set up to showcase the views with a huge wraparound porch, 2nd floor porch off of the master suite, and lots of comfortable deck furniture. We rented kayaks from Acadia 1 Kayaks (also highly recommend!), which delivered to the house, and spent most mornings paddling up and down the harbor. We saw seals, bald eagles, and a variety of waterfowl. There are a few neighbors down the road, but we only saw them from our kayaks as we were paddling back to the house. Although 30 minutes from Ellsworth and 60 minutes from Bar Harbor, the house is very close to Schoodic Point, Winter Harbor, and Prospect Harbor, which are worth exploring and offer much beyond the overdeveloped side of Acadia.
The kitchen is well equipped with many items I didn't expect to find including a spice cabinet and muffin tins. There is a large easy to use gas grill on the back porch.
The master suite is expansive and has unbelievable views of Prospect harbor. The two downstairs bedrooms with queen beds are spacious with private baths. The other two downstairs bedrooms (bunk bed and twin rooms) are quite small, but adequately furnished.
The bathrooms are all up to date and comfortable. There is no bath tub (only showers).
The sauna is great, we got it up to 200 degrees and used it most evenings.
The two living rooms are adequate. The sofas and chairs are not super comfy as mentioned in prior reviews, but to be honest this was one of the few minuses, and didn't factor much into our stay, as we spent most of the daytime outside hiking and boating."

"My husband and I stayed at Waterlily Cottage for our honeymoon and it was exactly what we hoped for! The location was great, just a few minutes drive from Acadia and downtown Bar Harbor, but far enough away to relax and escape the crowds that come with downtown. We were looking for a quiet place on the water and Waterlily delivered just that! The views were wonderful, we woke up to the smell of salt air and ocean breezes every morning and had coffee on the deck before starting our day. The pool was lovely and large enough to share with the other guests. We were able to rent a kayak, have it delivered and put in right in front of the cottage. The stone beach at low tide was fun to explore and we saw plenty of wildlife right out in the bay. All in all this property was a home run for us. We will absolutely be coming back. LOVED IT!!"

"There are no words to describe our experience at beachwalk. The owners have made sure that our every need has been. The only thing we have had to go out for was food and rum!! The landscaping is lovely, the cottage is exquisite and furnished with everything from band aids to a hammock on the deck. Thank you Jennifer for a most wonderful experience"

Wonderful views of the harbor and great host and hostess!
"My husband and I stated for 4 nights on a trip to Acadia. The room was immaculately clean and the bed very comfy. Best is the views out the large picture window of the apartment. Or sit and enjoy the view from the Adirondack chairs right on the beach. I spent most mornings enjoying the lobster boats going out of the harbor and watching the harbor seal and a few porpoises swim around. Great location (on the quiet side of town), wonderful views, great accommodations and even better hosts. We will certainly be returning! Andrew and Diane also recommended a great stops on our way down to Portland. They certainly didn't disappoint! They are truly amazing hosts!"
