  • This is what the coast of Maine should look like!

"First, the property owner maintained excellent communications. All questions were answered promptly. Second, located on the secluded land, the house was extremely beautiful and private. The property was well maintained. As cooks, we found the kitchen was fully equipped and ready for cooking. It was conveniently located for shopping as it was half way between Burnt Cove Market and downtown Stonington. It was also within a walking distance form the beautiful sand beach and was on a private rocky beach. The photographs were true the their nature. Third, Stonington itself had variety of restaurants and it was not overrun with tourists, and the Stonington Opera House had a variety of programs. All and all, the two months we spent in the house were everything we expected. As a perspective renter who is touring the property said "This is what the coast of Maine should look like"."

  • Perfect Harbor-View Perch.

"Totally perfect! A week wasn't long enough in this homey house overlooking the working Stonington Harbor! Loved the house, view and town. Weather was beautiful, allowing lots of time on deck watching all the lobster and fishing boat activity from our perch over the harbor. A genuine working harbor, only saw one sailboat and no yachts. The house had everything we needed, including the antique dough board, which I used to make dough for fried apple pies! Watching the huge tides change the view. Days of walking exploration of the town's hills and harbor, painting from the deck, kayaking, or just soaking up the view. One day trip to Acadia National Park, beautiful! and another to Moosehead Lake. We saw 3 moose! A boat ride to Isle de Haut to deliver the mail and on to Seal Island to see our first puffins. Nervous Nellies Jams & Jellies is a "don't miss it" curious art stop. Checked out Belfast and Camden Harbors on our way home. The house was clean, open, comfy and beautiful with morning sunlight streaming in the front windows. All week we were planning our return to this exceptional house and town."

  • Dream Vacation

"Five friends and I spent a glorious week in late summer at the Stronghold. The house, itself, offered every comfort, convenience, and delight to the eye. We could easily walk all around the town, and we also made enjoyable day trips along scenic and reliable routes. The Opera House offered unique entertainment, restaurants plied us with delectable food, and local galleries and shops, as well as a farmers' and artisans' market, provided opportunities to browse or buy. An adventure on a lobster boat gave us views of the Bay and its nearby islands, along with an informative and personable narrative from the captain. Finally, the warmth of the locals added the icing to the cake."

  • Absolutely Perfect!

"This was everything we could have wanted and more. The village is wonderful, delicious restaurants with organic local foods and fish, charming bookstores, and the dreamiest views. The house was even better. Same views, lovely furnishings, cozy movie den. We had a nice dinner party with friends, did some baking (it comes fully equipped for any cooking and baking needs), strolled into town, read books, picked flowers, had cocktails on the adirondack chairs, played with the kids in the yard, and just enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. It was lovely and we felt so lucky to have found it."
