  • Perfect family week in Maine

"We rented this house for two families with a total of four adults and four children, ages 6-11. It was the perfect home base for Acadia National Park; we were close to the entire park and just a 10-minute drive to parts of it. This is the quiet side of the island and not touristy like Bar Harbor but it is easy to get to Bar Harbor for food or shopping. The house has a gigantic family room with a pool table and every possible entertainment amenity. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and cooking tools and drawers and cabinets are labeled, which is a brilliant idea. If you get tired of cooking we recommend the pizza and baked goods at Little Notch. Hosts were gracious and generous, and answered even the tiniest questions quickly. They even replaced a phonograph needle for us so we could show our kids how a record player works. :) One note: the house has five bedrooms, including the downstairs apartment. One of the upstairs bedrooms has its own bathroom but the room is accessible only through another bedroom. This worked fine for us but might be useful information. We would rent this house again."

  • Perfect!

"My husband, daughter and future son-in-law had a fantastic 1st trip to MDI and staying at the chalet made it a perfect vacation. We spent a week and enjoyed all the different activities in the area and the park loop road. In the morning we enjoyed sitting on the deck drinking coffee and planning our day. At night we relaxed after our busy day with a cocktail, cards and lounging around. Comfy couch and two easy chairs worked out great. Nice open area with large table for eating and nice kitchen with all the appliances that you would want or need. Loved the bedrooms upstairs, especially ours which looked out at the water! Very private, clean and comfortable! With lots of windows to make it nice and bright! Can't wait to go back."

  • Great place to stay!

"The cottage was clean and well stocked, convenient to the park and the owners were very nice. We explored so much of the park in such a short time. It was a fantastic place to rent for the half marathon and a short walk from the finish line. There a few hikes in Acadia within a mile or two. Southwest Harbor is a short walk. Eagle Lake and the Cadillac entrance to the park loop road are a short drive (10 miles?)."

  • Winter Getaway

"We headed north from Boston after a crazy holiday season and stayed at this lovely farmhouse cottage on Deer Isle. We didn't know what to expect off season, but as we drove over the DI Bridge, and then over the very picturesque causeway that leads to the island, we were already charmed. The farm house exceeded our expectations; well appointed, tasteful and full of country charm. The surrounding pastures and next door conservation lands were beautiful. From the cottage, the winter views of the ocean were spectacular. We cozied up to the wood stove read books and made our favorite meals in the well stocked kitchen. Though the weather was nippy, each day we headed out on a Nature Heritage Trust walk through the woods, or along the ocean front. Beautiful views everywhere. We celebrated New Year Eve at a wonderful restaurant - the Arbor View Inn. This is reported to be one of the best restaurants in the entire state of Maine, and we'd heartily agree. If you want a true Down East experiences this family cottage is the perfect place to spend a week - or maybe two or three?"
