  • Amazing views and setup

"This was definitely a trip of a lifetime! The main house had everything you needed although it would've been nice not to have to do dishes while on vacation. The separate cabins were perfect for the number of people we had in our group-8! We absolutely used the laundry facilities. The beach was amazing! Did I mention the views? Outstanding! The only thing that would've been nice to know was that the only bedroom in the main house was the loft upstairs. The only way to get there were stairs that were built into the wall in the kitchen. There was an ant infestation in the bathroom that connected to one of the cabins. The deck was a great place to fish and surrounding woods were so fascinating to explore. Beautiful flowers, mossy rocks and trees. We had a great time and would go back in a heartbeat."

  • A great spot for a family vacation

"The location is ideal for a quiet, relaxing getaway on a beautiful and not-too-developed island. Almost any outdoor activity is available. Kayaking from the tidal cove is excellent, although you must be cognizant of the tide cycle unless you want to explore clam flats on your return. There are both close-by and distant paddling destinations, and Bald Eagles,Osprey and seals are frequently seen. It's also a good spot for bicycling, although the unpaved access road is not ideal for narrow-tire bikes, once the paved road is reached, the island offers many good cycling loops, as long as you avoid the most heavily used main road. Hiking trails on the island are available, but the most impressive hiking or mountain biking is on Isle au Haut, a 45 minute boat trip away. The description of other activities is accurate and this a great place for families, especially those with older kids. The cottage itself is very comfortable, beautifully designed and its a real pleasure just to relax there. The kitchen is efficient, well equipped and it's convenient to have a dishwasher and a clothes washer/dryer. There are a handful of restaurants on the island, but our favorites are on the mainland, a bit of a drive, but the wonderfully quirky El El Frijoles in Sargentville (not far from the suspension bridge) is fairly close and worth checking out. There is a good grocery store in Stonington, and wonderful farmer's markets on Weds and Friday mornings. The property is beautifully maintained, and the owners are helpful and responsive. This is about as good as the Maine coast gets."

  • Fantastic house

"I rented Woodberry for a week for my family to come visit. I fealt like I was walking into a dream on arrival. The pictures do not do the place justice. It is as nice as it can be while remaining homey and warm. Having so many things to do from the rocky shore to golf right down the road. Can't say enough, loved it. Also the owners were very pleasant to deal with."

  • Terrific to be "home" again in Stonington, ME

"What a terrific job Wilda and Richard have done in making Jack/Harriet Hemenway's workshops and showroom (which I remember so well) into an inviting, comfortable, welcoming vacation spot. They have thought of everything to make this a real "home away from home" vacation destination. Loved every minute of the time there."
