  • Just amazing in every way!

"This was our first time renting this amazing property, and our first visit to Stonington. It was the most wonderful vacation we have had in a long, long time. We have described it as living in a postcard for a week! We were a group of 7, ranging in age from 15 to 83. It is not easy to find a spot where such a broad age range is happy - but this is it. Every member of our party had a wonderful time - hiking, fishing, collecting shells, reading, watching lobster boats, sailboats and windjammers cruise by the house - just wonderful. The house was well equipped with books and games. The kitchen was big and homey, with lots of pots and pans, dishes - everything we needed to feel comfortable and at home. The views from inside and outside were amazing. I did not step out of the house 1 time the whole week without saying "This is just so gorgeous!". The other area I would be remiss in not mentioning is the privacy at this home. You are on a point, with no other houses in site. It is peaceful, beautiful and private as can be. Definitely gem tucked away by the sea. Wonderful!"

  • Fantastic!!!

"As a child I spent summers on Little Deer Isle in Maine, and my wife and I have been coming for vacations for a number of years. We have rented cottages on Deer Isle, Mount Desert Island, and near Damariscotta. We had heard that Castine is one of prettiest towns in Maine and thought we would try it this year. The Castine village turned out to be one of the loveliest, most beautiful places we have ever visited. Because it is on a peninsula (it's almost an island) it has an old fashioned unspoiled quality that we have not found elsewhere. The village has a corner store, a charming library, and a boatyard. It also has a town green, predominantly white clapboard houses, churches, and old elm trees. There are forts from the revolutionary war. We took walks, went kayaking, and enjoyed the feel of the place. The Witherle Woods has great trails, and the town has only small streets that are better for walkers than drivers. The cottage was exceptional. It stands close to the center of the village and overlooks the harbor. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and watching the activity on the water. There were little sailboats with children taking sailing lessons as well as beautiful old classic yachts and schooners. The name of the cottage is spot on--watching the moon rise over the water was magical. The cottage itself is very comfortable, and it has a light, airy quality. It is thoughtfully and tastefully furnished, and there is an amazing view of the water from almost every window. We were looking for a comfortable place in a beautiful location. This exceeded our expectations. The cottage was really great, and Castine is unique. The convenience of being in a town where you can get supplies and walk everywhere, made for a relaxing vacation. We hope we can come back again next year."

  • Adventure to remember

"What a week! The house is located just 13 minutes by car to Bar Harbor, 10 minutes by car to the entrance to Acadia National Park. If you choose to take the bus, the pick up spot is only a short walk away from this roomy, clean, comfortable home. We really liked the home and area! Just down the road from the cape house was a great spot to kayak. We did not bring ours but wish we had. I forgot the name of the harbor / bay area but a fantastic spot for that. There were 5 adults (4 woman and 1 fella) and one small dog that embarked upon this adventure and we never felt cramped in this home. LOVE IT. Hope to go back next year! Thank you for renting us the great home. Its a keeper! Can't say enough about the beauty. If visiting, do yourself a favor and pick up an Acadia Weekly magazine... its free and you can get one at any info center. Its very informative on driving around, the bus routes and has some great activity ideas. We used it every day and because of the magazine we hiked Acadia Mountain, it was AWESOME! I hope all enjoy as much as we did."

  • Lovely home in a spectacular and convenient setting

"Sea Meadow is a lovely and immaculately kept home, in a spectacular setting on the edge of Blue Hill Bay. The first morning of our stay, a school of Harbour porpoises swam through, close to shore, and throughout our stay, birdlife was abundant. The call of a loon at dusk is an experience not to be missed in this lifetime. Sea Meadow cottage is in a very private location, but only minutes away from the Wooden Boat School in nearby Brooklin, and puts all of the eastern arm of Penobscot Bay within easy reach. It is the nicest vacation rental we have ever stayed in, and we look forward to returning!"
