"I stayed at The River House a couple of weeks ago with my mom, sister, and six-year-old niece. We couldn’t have picked a nicer place for our vacation. The house is in town but tucked away off of a private road. While we were there, we felt as if we were in some faraway, secluded retreat; but the convenience of shopping, restaurants, tourist attractions etc. was only minutes away. The house itself is gorgeous; it is evident that a lot of love and care has gone into maintaining this home. And it is stocked with all of the essentials that you might need, plus some extras. We arrived to find fresh flowers and a basket with maple syrup and pancake mix on the island in the kitchen. Joe and Sue also supplied us with enough coffee to get us through the entire week. Also, the views from the house are amazing and the grounds made me just want to sit and relax and take in all of the beautiful scenery. One of my favorite parts of the whole trip was getting up early in the morning and having my coffee on a little bench that is tucked away at the end of one of the trails, overlooking the river. All in all, The River House was the highlight of our trip; and our only regret was that we did not spend more time there!"

"This beautiful cottage was exactly what we were hoping for on our first trip to Maine. Nestled on a quiet cove, with no one around you can expect complete privacy. We enjoyed peaceful evenings on the porch watching the stunning sunsets over the water. While the porch was our favorite spot, the inside of the cottage is cozy and well-furnished with everything you may need during your stay. We chose to prepare and eat most of our meals in since there was easy access to great local seafood and fresh produce.
We loved this location because it gave us quick access to the entire Acadia region. We spent our days exploring and falling in love with Maine and used the cottage as our late afternoon/evening spot to recharge. There is so much to see and do in this area that a week just isn't enough!
We have all ready recommended this property to several of our friends and will plan to stay here again when we return to the area. The owner is great help and a gracious hostess. She gave us many tips on where to go and what to see so we could enjoy our trip to the fullest. If you are considering a trip to the Acadia region, do yourself a favor and book this wonderful cottage!"

"Our first stay at this cottage -- we (a retired couple) were delighted. It fit our strategy of being close to civilization (20 minutes to Acadia, 25 to Bar Harbor) without the busy-ness or congestion. Laura is promptly responsive; this artistically decorated cottage is well-stocked. Photographers please note this cottage faces east so you get "golden hour" sunrise light over a classic tidal cove. Same concept for sleeper Lemoine State Park and nearby Blunt's Pond. First timers - I recommend not arriving after sunset as the surrounding thick cluster of trees in the final 100 yards to the cottage presents a worthy challenge to any visually impaired navigator. Second time is a breeze."

"This is truly a “tranquil retreat” in a beautiful setting. The house is comfortable and thoughtfully constructed. The high ceilings and the curved bank of windows facing the pond allows for a beautiful view and a feeling of being a part of the quite pine forest. The carved spiral staircase to the second floor is gorgeous and the attention to detail in the house is in sharp contrast to what is seen in most rental properties. I’m sure this is because the owner’s built the house without ever intending to rent it. I hope they continue to do so as we loved our stay and hope to return next year. We would recommend it without hesitation."
