  • Perfect in every way

"My husband, 6 year old daughter and I had the opportunity to spend a relaxing week here in late July. It was a beautiful week in a gorgeous spot. I was concerned that the cabin is on a pond, however after doing a little searching online, I realized that this is a 740 acre pond! We saw a few people out enjoying the water, but overall it was very peaceful. The cabin is exactly as you see it, there were no surprises, it was clean, well organized, and Cindy is an absolute pleasure to work with. All questions prior to arrival were answered, and she greeted us on the day we arrived to give us a tour of the property and make sure we had everything we needed. We spent time in Acadia biking, hiking, and relaxing at Sand Beach. We did venture into Bar Harbor but quickly realized that was to crowded for us, we were anxious to get back to our peaceful home and listen to the loons on the lake, and visit the fish my daughter named "Roxy". There are a lot of antique stores along the way, and Ellsworth/Bucksport are both a short drive away with nice family restaurant. We recommend Finns Irish Public House, Union River Lobster House, and Mainly Meat all in Ellsworth. We are looking forward to coming back again, and exploring more of the area!"

  • The Perfect Getaway

"Can't say enough about how wonderful our stay on Spectacle Island was. Of course, Maine is beautiful, the hikes in Acadia were incredible, etc. etc... that goes without saying. But the hospitality that Jaime and AJ (and Ava!) provided was beyond compare. They clearly care deeply about the island and its guests, and constantly went out of their way to be sure that our stay was perfect in every way. We would stay at Spectacle Island again even if it were on a lake in the middle of Nebraska, just to enjoy the company of our wonderful hosts. The fact that SI is in the middle of one of the most incredible parks in the US just seems like icing on the cake."

  • Quiet respite

"This cottage is exactly as pictured, or better. I was seeking a quiet haven to unplug (no wifi) and relax from city stress - and, pulling in, I knew I'd found the place. One can kayak right off the front yard (we used our klepper). Gail let us use a canoe (hers). There is not a soul around save the occaisonal lobsterboat in the distance. No noise. A few eagles and seals. We didn't venture out for dinner (living in Europe, we get good food) - but who needs to with a view like that! The sunsets were beautiful. We did cook on the grill and unwind with a glass of wine on the enclosed porch overlooking the bay. The galley kitchen has a granite countertop and the photo doesn't do it justice. The local wine & cheese shop is actually well appointed, a nice surprise. The cottage is very clean, also a relief as I am picky. Gail is a very caring owner. She loves her home and having people enjoy it, it shows in her attention to detail. Several wildflower bouquets awaited us! And a chest of blankets for cool days on the porch. The drive to Mount Desert Island is about 40 min if one so desires to venture out. Seeing sunrise on Mt Cadillac on a clear day (get there 30' prior for best colours), hiking Gorham trail or seeing Schoodic Point were nice. But Quiet Cove has nothing to envy from Acadia. In sum, with its isolation and enclosed private porch, it's better (no people, no bugs). (This stay prompted my husband to dig about close properties for sale). I strongly recommend this place for those seeking a nice, quiet, authentic piece of Maine nature and not the ticky tack of tourist traps. You will not regret it."

  • peaceful place

"We loved the house and the views and the wildflowers. There is nothing fancy about the house, just a perfect simplicity. The children played a lot of Badminton while the adults cooked in the well-appointed kitchen. We loved the little beach just down the road. Everyone slept really well in the silence of the nights. I look forward to returning."
