  • Amazing

"I have rented over 60 houses in five countries and all across the US, including over 20 in Hawaii and this is by far the most beautiful house I have ever stayed in. It starts with the view as you pull into the driveway. The grounds, while landscaped retain that natural beauty of Maine. In my imagination I could not have designed a more beautiful home. Everywhere you look, inside and out, there are beautiful or whimsical decorative touches. The carving in the railing on the bottom floor has to be seen. The person who created that is an absolute genius. The porcupine that watches over the great room brings a smile to your face. You have to see the house and spend a week in it to truly appreciate it. Words and pictures cannot even begin to do this house justice. We were there before the summer season kicks in so the ferry was closed, no water taxi, no buses, few businesses. Luckily J.M. Gerrish opened the week before we arrived and Chase's is open all year. All the other houses on the street were unoccupied but the houses are all situated so that you would never see or hear anybody at this house. The Wi-Fi worked great. The cable worked great but there were so many remotes I was the only person who could figure out the combination of how to use them. The bathrooms were spectacular. The beds comfortable. The kitchen well appointed with a gas range. A really, really comfortable house. There is one bedroom on the main level so if you have people with mobility problems they can still enjoy the house. There are about five steps to get into the house but they are broken up into two steps and three. We had no problem getting our one semi-invalid in. Getting her into the bed, which was a little high, required a small step stool but we had one. A binder with lots of useful area info. The kids loved playing on the shore and exploring the woods. The bedroom on the top floor, a loft, has no doors and the bottom floor has no door. It was very large with a recliner, couch, and the most spectacular views from the bed to the water. It was like you had your own apartment. But when the kids were on the 3rd floor talking and my husband and I were on the bottom, we could hear them perfectly. And TV sounds traveled up and down. You could also hear the happenings in the main floor great room. The main floor bedroom had a door. We would definitely stay here again. You will not be disappointed, but it may ruin you for other rental houses."

  • Perfect

"Perfect: location, amenities, views, and space. Gorgeous new bathrooms, lots of space for extended family to share and not be on top of each other and wonderful new beds and bedding. It has been a perfect place for our children and grandchildren to stay and explore the area. All this and clean to boot. One cannot write and share the views from the house, it is magical and to be experienced. Three cheers from our clan. it was great."

  • Relaxing, Refreshing and Rewarding

"We just finished a week at this delightful location. The listing and photos are very accurate - what they don't capture until you experience it is the quiet solitude and relaxed feeling that overcomes you. The house was perfect for our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 young children), and was in very good condition and very clean. The owner, Scott, is a great host and very informative about local attractions, restaurants, and any other necessary information. We would DEFINITELY recommend this property to a relative or friend. As the description reads, the location is serene, but not far from the "action" of Acadia/Bar Harbor. We spent our time in a mix of activities - some in the park, some in local lakes (ask Scott for ideas), and some in the tourist areas. No matter what, we always had this beautiful, quiet location to come home to (on the days we left the house!). Thank you, Scott, for a great vacation location."

  • Charming Cottage with beautiful view.

"This is a lovely property. The area is quiet and secluded, and the view of the bay is stunning. The cottage is well maintained and recently renovated - painted, decorated, etc. It really is a perfect getaway for those wanting to explore Down East Maine. The kitchen is stocked with all the equipment you would need for a longer stay (except perhaps a dishwasher), although we only stayed two nights while attending a wedding. Although the listing says it sleeps 6, I think that could be a little close unless your party is a large family. The convertible bed is in the living room, so no privacy there. The bathroom was obviously remodeled recently and is very nice. My only complaint was lack of light over the sink for makeup etc. As I mentioned to the property manager, my eyes are old! All in all, very charming! Especially enjoyed the large deck overlooking the water. And it's so quiet there!"
