  • Perfect spot of Fall in Acadia

"Rugosa is a beautiful and peaceful cottage minutes from Acadia and a perfect place to welcome Fall each year. Rugosa is a perfect, yet simple, home-away-from-home for a week and I always look forward to walking through the front door at the start of our week. From early mornings down by the water, exploring what the tides brought the night before, to tucking in by the fire on a chilly early Fall evening, the space is warm and inviting. We've been bringing our kids since one was a year and a half and the other a baby. For years when afternoon naps are essential, the cottage location is perfect to spend a morning in the park and be back in time for a nap in the afternoon. Otherwise, it is so nice to only have a short drive back after a day of putzing around Bar Harbor or hiking and biking Acadia. My family enjoys meals overlooking the water and watching the sunset while cooking is a special treat. This cottage is a perfect spot to be with each other and soak in the natural beauty of a place as special as Mt. Desert Island--it makes for a truly memorable week and one that I look forward to each year."

  • Comfortable and Cozy Bass Harbor Cottage for Two

"My husband and I enjoyed staying in this cozy, comfy, clean and well appointed apartment. The photos represent the the cottage accurately and the bedroom upstairs is bright with a skylight over the comfortable bed that we enjoyed for fresh air and a birds eye view of the fall foliage. There was plenty of closet and drawer space to settle in for the week. The cottage is in a quiet, wooded setting removed from the bustle of Bar Harbor. We cooked frequently and found all we needed. Loved soaking in the jet whirlpool tub at the end of those cliff hikes. Soothed both the nerves and the back. I had the pleasure of meeting Robin. She was accommodating while respecting privacy. Our email correspondences prior to arrival and the on-site literature were so helpful in exploring and enjoying the area. If we return to that area we would definitely reserve the Seamist again. The cottage is perfect for two."

  • Charming Get Away

"My teenage daughter and I found this to be a perfect place to spend time together. This lovingly converted barn captured my daughter's imagination the moment she spotted it on line. The property was just as shown, very clean and lacking for nothing we could need in bath or kitchen. The loft bedroom and open floor plan worked beautifully for us allowing her to sleep late and me to enjoy browsing the "library". Felt very peaceful to be on Schoodic Peninsula where we enjoyed nature hikes and the gorgeous scenery. Easy drive to Bar Harbor for whale watching which was fantastic. This was a perfect place to stay rain or shine."

  • Fantastic!!!

"As a child I spent summers on Little Deer Isle in Maine, and my wife and I have been coming for vacations for a number of years. We have rented cottages on Deer Isle, Mount Desert Island, and near Damariscotta. We had heard that Castine is one of prettiest towns in Maine and thought we would try it this year. The Castine village turned out to be one of the loveliest, most beautiful places we have ever visited. Because it is on a peninsula (it's almost an island) it has an old fashioned unspoiled quality that we have not found elsewhere. The village has a corner store, a charming library, and a boatyard. It also has a town green, predominantly white clapboard houses, churches, and old elm trees. There are forts from the revolutionary war. We took walks, went kayaking, and enjoyed the feel of the place. The Witherle Woods has great trails, and the town has only small streets that are better for walkers than drivers. The cottage was exceptional. It stands close to the center of the village and overlooks the harbor. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and watching the activity on the water. There were little sailboats with children taking sailing lessons as well as beautiful old classic yachts and schooners. The name of the cottage is spot on--watching the moon rise over the water was magical. The cottage itself is very comfortable, and it has a light, airy quality. It is thoughtfully and tastefully furnished, and there is an amazing view of the water from almost every window. We were looking for a comfortable place in a beautiful location. This exceeded our expectations. The cottage was really great, and Castine is unique. The convenience of being in a town where you can get supplies and walk everywhere, made for a relaxing vacation. We hope we can come back again next year."
