"The title "Quiet, comfortable, affordable" says it all! A really great location not far from Ellsworth (for groceries) and Mount Desert Island, but completely away from the crowds, even when we went during peak season in August. I think we might have seen one other car drive down the road the house is on. The house was very comfortable, everything more than adequate for a vacation. For the price, not much more than a nicer hotel, it was a steal! A great place to unwind, which is just what we were looking for."

"A clean and cozy cottage with with an amazing view across the waters of Frenchman's Bay to the mountains of Acadia -- and the cruise ships visiting Bar Harbor! We loved the place, despite the fact that certain aspects have gone beyond shabby/chic to just plain shabby. This mid-century cottage needs some sprucing up, not to make it chic or luxurious, but keep it reasonably attractive and in good working order. I think the people who would rent this place would be, like us, interested in savoring the beauties of the place, and would not be using the cottage merely as a place to sleep. It's distance from the noise and crowds is one of its chief features, and so a little more attention to the upkeep of the cottage would guarantee that folks like us would rave about the place and we would make a point of returning.
I checked the box to recommend this cottage for those over 55 but should include the caveat that the lawn is treacherously uneven and that there's quite a drop from the first stair to the lawn. This comes as a surprise especially when one is going out. Otherwise the one-floor layout is ideal."

"My wife and I and two teenagers spent a glorious week in this incredible structure. The place is close to 200 years old, but is a remarkable mix of antique splendor and funky modernism. There was something fascinating to look at wherever you stood. I expected that of the harbor, but not the place itself. Clean and modern in every important way, yet historic charm as well. We spent a lot of time on the deck--streaming sun all morning and through the day--and walked to every place you'd want to see in the beautiful town. We ate like kings at the restaurants, but loved cooking in the uber-modern kitchen and eating at the centuries-old table. The local caretaker was all old-Maine, answered all our questions and made everything so easy. It is clear the owners want their visitors to relax and have fun. We'll be back."

"We stayed in this "camp" a few years ago (the date would not let me go back far enough, but I think it was 2012), and it was one of the most memorable vacations our family has shared. The house is pretty basic, so if you are looking for a luxury experience, this isn't it. It was extremely clean and well-stocked and had every basic comfort. Cozy! It is off the beaten path, with a driveway that goes on and on and on...(we loved it and enjoyed taking walks back and forth!). The best part about this house is that it is completely private! You are in your own little world, and that view.... it's a million dollar view no matter the weather! We trekked down the steep trail every morning and evening to the very private cove that was all ours the entire week. The owner was very helpful with any questions we had, and made sure we had the real Maine experience. Would love to go back soon."
