  • Solar Simplicity with an Ocean View

"We loved staying at Campa Bella! It is a perfect place to stay with dogs since it is not on the main road so you don't have to worry about the dogs running out the door and getting hit, not that there are many cars even on the main road. The cottage is clean and comfortable. The deck is large enough that as the sun sets behind the cottage you can still catch rays while reading a book in the comfortable La Fuma recliners. The well water pump in the kitchen was easy and fun to use. I enjoyed using the sun shower, too. Every day after our hike in Acadia we swam in Long Pond with our dogs. Most of the summer residents swim there as well. A popular spot! Found a great trail that leads to a little outcropping that is off the main road for sitting by the pond. It is just before you get to the main beach. The trails are beautiful but some are a bit overgrown. The main trails along the ocean are spectacular! Enjoy!"

  • A Perfect Slice of Heaven

"The Stonington Guest Cottage exceeded our expectaions. The space is delightful as were our hosts, Doug and Leslie. We found the cottage immaculate, spacious with fine amenities including fresh flowers picked from the lovely garden waiting for us as we arrived. Our week was a perfect mixture of relaxation, exploring the town and Deer Isle. We we took part in the local culture attending a dance at the Stonington Opera House and enjoying a string quartet and a quaint church. We hope that other guests will find the harbor view from the screened in porch and deck as romantic and peaceful as we did. Leslie gave us great restaurant tips and we found the restaurants very reasonable in price with delicious food. A perfect slice of heaven without the large numbers of tourists. Thank you Doug and Lesle for sharing your special cottage with us."

  • Our Honymoon

"The love shack sounded kind of silly at first especially as we were coming for our honymoon. There is something to the name though of that we can be sure. The owners have re done the "shack" and frankly the term no longer applies. Everything about it is perfect. There is not a square inch of the place that was not re done. The kitchenett is a true kitchennet. There is a college sized fridge, microwave, coffee pot, and a sink in the bathroom. For the two of us we were able to make breakfeast sandwiches, lunches, and several dinners there. The owners provide bikes and sea kayaks which we took advantage of. (when they say go at high tide they mean it.) They also provided maps and general travel information regrding the area. They are pet friendly as well and our dogs really enjoyed the stay. The location was perfect for day trips into the various parts of Acadia as well as to Bar harbor. Bar harbor proper was roughly a 40 min drive. The scodhic point protion of acadia is practically right next door and offers plenty to do in its own right. Bring plenty of memory cards for the camera because you cant take a bad picture. The owners have a nice dock area with a bench that overlooks the harbor. Very nice spot to watch the sunset with a cigar. All in all I will say that everything was as described or better and the owners were most accommodating. My only negitive would be the sluggish internet but in this neck of the woods just having a constant connection is a victory."

  • Best view in town!!! And direct waterfront access and kayaks!

"Such an amazing house - layout, location, amenities - all of it contributed to our relaxing and fun-filled family vacation. We visited with our 2 kids (3 and 5 years old) and their grandparents. Kids loved running around the back deck/porch that wraps around half the house. Sunset dinners on the deck. Lobster feast with fresh lobsters from the lobster co-op - 2 lobster pots and as many shell crackers and pick you could need. Kayaking among the sleeping lobster boats at sunset with the gorgeous "Stonington light." Just sitting in the living room, facing the harbor, and watching the graceful action on the harbor - meditative. Master suite is spacious and set apart from the other bedrooms which are located on the 2nd floor. Plenty of places in the house for sharing a family meal - in the dining room, the breakfast area, table on the back deck, picnic table on the dock. And, plenty of places to kick back and relax around the house - reclining chairs on the back deck, daybed in the front of the house, comfy living room sofa, additional living room chairs. All times of day are beautiful times of day at this house - don't miss the amazing stars in the night sky! Walk to everything on Main Street including the excellent restaurant Aragosta. Two doors down from the Factory Tavern restaurant which makes it convenient to try to secure a last minute reservation. A few steps up the hill from the Isle Au Haut mailboat ferry to secure your 'first come, first served" ferry tickets in the morning. A short drive to Sand Beach (so much more than your typical beach - be sure to check it out), Barred Island (magical hike through moss carpeted woods to the island - go around low tide (+/- 3 hours), and take the kids to Nervous Nellie's - in addition to making and selling jam, there's entertaining and eccentric art on a life-sized scale. Also, a short drive to sailboat rentals (and other vessels) at Old Quarry Adventures. A short drive to Burnt Cove Market for groceries. We spent 2 weeks in Stonington, the 2nd week in this house - could not have been better. Make sure to take advantage of the kayaks - sunset is the best time of day - no traffic in the harbor, beautiful setting, seal spotting. Plenty of lifejackets provided for adults and kids. We've stayed in many vacation rental houses over the years in different areas of the country for family vacations and this was definitely one of the best!"
