  • Charming Home, Great Location!

"My wife and I just enjoyed a lovely stay with our baby at this cozy cabin on the water. The house was in great shape, with a fully stocked kitchen, washer & dryer and pleasant furniture and decor. Furthermore, the owners (who spend the summer next door) were gracious and hospitable hosts-- they lent us their walking sticks for hiking around Acadia! We loved being in quaint Southwest Harbor, away from the touristy bustle of Bar Harbor. The home is steps away from Beal's Lobster Pound and about 15 minutes from "downtown" SH. The back porch looks out (through trees) to gorgeous Somes Sound, and we took advantage of the kayaks provided to paddle around and see some wildlife. Looking forward to our return trip!"

  • A Great Time Was Had By All!

"We were a party of 6 friends. Everyone loved the house. It was so warm and comfortable. It felt like a well loved family home that always welcomed friends who came to visit. We had everything we needed in the house.Everything was taken care of very well. All the suggestions from the owner were helpful. We would all recommend this lovely house to anyone interested. Southwest Harbor was a charming town with lots of things to do. Bar Harbor was nearby. Please check the cruise ship arrival schedule before you go there to make sure 6,000 people are not getting off the ship the day you plan to go there. Be sure to go visit the Granite Museum. The gent who runs is is one of the last granite men around knowing how everything was done in the old days. We only wish we could have stayed longer. Aleria Cottage was the perfect place to stay on a perfect vacation."

  • Memorable Home, Memorable Vacation!

"This home was the best! It really was everything we could want in a vacation home. The teens were having a fit about not going to the beach as usual, so they were a hard sell - but even they said this was one of the best vacations ever. Jennifer was extremely receptive to our questions (even the dumb ones). The house was located in a great spot close to Southwest Harbor. A main grocery store was at the bottom of the hill, and the town was minutes away by car. We were so glad we didn't stay in Bar Harbor - it is a lovely place, and we went there twice, but the crowds - forget it.... Southwest Harbor was quaint and had everything we needed. Good restaurants, ice cream, bike rentals and fairly close to all the places we wanted to visit on the Island. We were two families - we stuck the teens up in the bunk bedroom (top of A-frame). It wasn't until the 3rd day we realized there was a pool table in the basement! The porch which runs the length of the house was just gorgeous, looking out over the woods. There were a few homes up on our road, but you couldn't see them through the forest. The stars were amazing, especially from the hot tub. We were there the 2nd week of July and the weather was great - never had to use the AC, always a breeze... We called the house "our green cabin", but it was far from a cabin! I have done many vacation rentals over the years, and it was so refreshing to stay in a home that was really someone's vacation home - not an investment property with zero personal touches. Fun stuff we did on MDI: rented bikes and road around the ponds, having lunch at Jordan House (we timed the ride with help from bike store in SW Harbor and made reservations outside) - beautiful! We enjoyed sunset atop Cadillac Mt., after enjoying a lobster meal at one of the roadside lobster pounds (near north entrance to park). We spent an afternoon at Echo Lake for a "refreshing" swim. A special highlight was going to Sand Beach on the loop road, views were breathtaking. We took a lunch, left our stuff on the beach and hiked up and around Great Head Trail - a little challenging for some of us, but well worth it. I would highly recommend Eat a Pita restaurant for any meal in SW Harbor. My thanks to our hosts, and should we go Northeast - Downeast again, we will be sure to rent this special home."

  • Wonderful, Welcoming House

"I can't say enough great things about this beautiful gem near Acadia National Park. The owner has gone out of her way to make it welcoming and enjoyable for visitors. The kitchen is more than well equipped; there are two full refrigerators and an empty pantry in the center that proved incredibly convenient for us to store the groceries we bought. We enjoyed using the puzzles in the living room, which has a large table and fireplace. Each room has a ceiling fan and the bathrooms were perfect. There is a pretty flower garden and yard, and the nearest Park entrance is not far away. We also found the location to be very convenient to Bar Harbor where we could use a less traveled approach. The one thing you should know, is that even though there are 4 lovely bedrooms (each with a hamper and empty dressers) 3 of the bedrooms are accessed through each other. The bedroom on the third floor with 4 single beds can only be reached through a bedroom with a queen bed which is accessed from the bedroom with a double bed. We were three couples and it worked out fine for us. I would definitely choose to stay here again the next time I visit Acadia."
