  • What a great retreat!!

"We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Bass Terre! This house is in a beautiful spot - a private cove with amazing ocean vistas! The grounds are well kept with lots of flowers - a comfortable deck and only one distant neighbor. The house is over 100 years old but in great condition - bathrooms, appliances and cable TV all work just fine. The bedrooms and mattresses are good and with the silence and cool night breezes, we all slept like babies! The living/dining area is spacious and all 5 adults (of varying ages) were very comfortable there. If we get back to Maine and Bass Terre some day, we will definitely take our dogs - there's a huge garage attached to the house that works if they're wet or need to be confined while you're out and about. The owners provided an excellent list of restaurants and activities that we used daily to plan our outings. Acadia National Park is the highlight and we spent several days exploring different parts of the park - including the top of Cadillac Mountain, Loop Drive along the rocky shore, the popovers at Jordan Pond and several hikes around lakes. We found Bar Harbor to be a crowded tourist trap so we wandered through some of the smaller fishing village shops and restaurants. Southwest Harbor, Somesville and Northeast Harbor are all charming villages. We highly recommend seeing Asticou Gardens! But most of all, we enjoyed returning to Bass Terre in the evening and watching the sun set."

  • September To Remember

"This was our family's first visit to Maine and Acadia. Renting this house was the best plan we made for the trip. The quiet serenity, the wildlife, and the scenery were all amazing. The house is rustic like a cabin and well equipped like a family home. We spent our mornings watching harbor seals and identifying birds including bald eagles, osprey, loons, cormorants, various woodpeckers (including a pileated pair), kingfishers, and forest songbirds. An eagle landed in a tree right off the deck when were were eating our first breakfast. We were visited by deer and red squirrels. We hated to leave and cannot wait to return. Tern II is an enchanting place to spend a week or more. Definitely bring binoculars, even if you are not an active birder. Also: The restaurants in the small towns around the island are outstanding. Red Sky and Sips in Southwest Harbour are excellent, just to name two."

  • Little Piece of Heaven!

"Such a charming cottage! My family and I just returned home yesterday from a weeks vacation at this cottage. We had such an amazing time. It was very neat and well stocked. The views are amazing! I have two young boys ages 4 and 5 and they had the best time on the beach. It is loaded with sea glass, hermit crabs and shells. There are so many great restaurants near by. Lots of hiking trails in the area too. Rusty and Lynne were very sweet and helpful. I feel so lucky to have found this spot and can't wait to return!!"

  • Paul's Cottage is wonderful

"We have been coming to Paul's Cottage for many years. The cottage satisfied a dream we had for a long time. We have been coming to Maine since the middle 1950's and the idea of buying a place on the ocean in Maine had become a strong wish but we could never afford it. Later, with improved financial circumstances, one could contemplate buying a place in Maine, however, then there was simply not enough time to maintain and worry about additional property. Paul's cottage is a perfect answer. It is in an absolutely beautiful location on the water on one of the loveliest places on the East coast. The place is better equipped with amenities than our house in Newton and best of all, when things age and break, we find them repaired and often improved the next year. We cannot think of a better deal!"
