Comfortable, full-stocked cottage with wonderful views
"My husband, 11-year-old daughter and I spent a week at the end of August at this cottage. We had compared a lot of houses on Mount Desert Island before selecting this one. We were not disappointed. The cottage is spotlessly clean, well-stocked and comfortable. The master is a large size. The second bedroom is cozy and has a terrific view. The deck was our favorite place to relax after a busy day of hiking/sailing/rock-climbing. It is about a 15-20 minute drive into Bar Harbor. Very peaceful. The washer/dryer was convenient. The kitchen is fully stocked. It even had a coffee grinder! We have rented houses before and never had such a nicely stocked kitchen. Wi-Fi is good. The upstairs great room was a great place to relax and watch TV in the evening. It was removed enough that it did not disturb anyone who wanted to turn in early.
The listing description and photos are accurate.
Our hosts were gracious, friendly and helpful. Their recommendations and suggestions made our stay better. They recommended the Seafood Ketch in Bass Harbor. We enjoyed it so much we went back on our last day in Bar Harbor.
I highly recommend this rental."

"We found this house to be very comfortable. It is extremely close to the main street in Northeast Harbor, where there is a grocery, bakery, cafe, and plenty of shops to explore. The bus to Acadia and Bar Harbor runs right past the house. The house itself is bright and airy with high ceilings. It has a lovely deck and we ate outside several times. The beds were extremely comfortable with high quality linens. The layout is a little interesting, with one bedroom upstairs and the others downstairs, which allowed for a private hideaway. The kitchen, though smallish in terms of work surfaces, was well equipped with decent knives and ample glassware, dishes and pots/pans. The bathrooms are a bit old-fashioned (the kids got a kick out of the separate hot/cold water faucets)."

"This was our family's first visit to Maine and Acadia. Renting this house was the best plan we made for the trip. The quiet serenity, the wildlife, and the scenery were all amazing. The house is rustic like a cabin and well equipped like a family home. We spent our mornings watching harbor seals and identifying birds including bald eagles, osprey, loons, cormorants, various woodpeckers (including a pileated pair), kingfishers, and forest songbirds. An eagle landed in a tree right off the deck when were were eating our first breakfast. We were visited by deer and red squirrels. We hated to leave and cannot wait to return. Tern II is an enchanting place to spend a week or more. Definitely bring binoculars, even if you are not an active birder. Also: The restaurants in the small towns around the island are outstanding. Red Sky and Sips in Southwest Harbour are excellent, just to name two."

"The Wayfaring Mermaid Suite is simply gorgeous...it is one of the few places I have visited where the actual property is even better than the photos. My mom and I were able to enjoy this beautiful apartment in the most perfect location, along with my 2 year-old daughter. It is clean, well- stocked, comfortable, well appointed...I was able to set up a pack and play in the bedroom, and my mom used the sofa sleeper in the main room. She said it was very comfortable, and she loved the breeze from the open windows! The bedroom bed was just as wonderful as my own bed! Monique and Joe are both so kind, and the attention to detail when building this unit is very impressive! Joe is a highly skilled craftsman, and he handcrafted the entire apartment...gorgeous (I know I am using this word a great deal...but, it's the best word to describe this place). The courtyard, which we didn't get to spend nearly enough time enjoying, was adorable...
We were able to walk to the Chart House Restaurant, which is just steps from the apartment; we also took advantage of the ice cream shop at the end of the street, as well! The rocky beach (also steps from the apartment), was the perfect spot for photos!
It was a quick two minute drive to the Acadia National Park and just minutes to downtown Bar Harbor.
You must visit Cadillac Mountain! I lived in Hawaii for two years (which has always been my favorite place on earth), and I really think Bar Harbor and the park might have moved past the islands:) We took a little drive to Bass Harbor, which was also gorgeous (beautiful sunset by the lighthouse).
If you're looking for the perfect place to in the most perfect location...this is exactly where you need to stay! I hope to be able to return and enjoy this property with my husband!"
