Perfect location for hikers
"If you want a place where you can get directly into the mountains, this is it! From this house we hiked up the South Ridge of Cadillac Mountain, to the North Ridge - all the way on trails into Bar Harbor. We also did a nice hike that started at Sand Beach, up the Bee hive, over Gorham Mountain, to the Otter Cliffs and through a surprise shortcut path right back to our house. You can't beat this location. Not only can you get out quickly for short or long hikes, you can also hop on or off the Island Explorer Bus that stops right outside the house.
The house itself was great, too. We stayed with my parents, adult brother and our young son. Everyone had their own spacious bedroom (the photos don't quite convey how large the rooms are). The kitchen was well stocked (though the pots could use some updating and deep cleaning) and the appliances all were in good working condition. The house had lots of travel guides, maps and tourist information - so we didn't need to look anything up. The living room couches were a bit tired and saggy, but there were other adequate seating options, too. The beds were comfy and we even got a change of sheets (which was nice because we needed the flannel early in the week and the cotton sheets when it got a little warmer).
I don't view this to be negative, but some may - there was no cell phone reception. However, they have a phone there for local calls and emergencies. Honestly, I loved not being able to stay connected while I was on vacation, so it didn't bother me. The internet wi-fi was fast and reliable, so if you must...you can.
It was great to have a rental with nice towels, linens, toilet paper and basic soap supplies too. I thought the towel allotment was more than adequate, especially with the washer and dryer available.
Thanks - if we're going to Acadia next year, we'll definitely book again!"

"We loved this well-maintained house. It was perfect for 2 families made up of 4 parents and six "kids" aged 25, 23, 21, 21, 18, and 15! The dining room table was long enough to fit all 10 of us for meals and the kitchen was large enough to handle multiple cooks. The house was well stocked with any dishes or pans we needed and had every spice we wanted. The linens were great and the linen room had more towels than we could ever need. The street was quiet while being just a few blocks from the town shops and restaurants. Parking was very limited (about 1.5 cars could fit) but we had no trouble finding parking in the same block. We want to come back!!!"

"We had an excellent time in Acadia with our family of four (kids 7 & 11) and golden retriever. The house is in the perfect location, a few blocks from Bar Harbor shops and restaurants. We walked to town almost every night for dinner. It was also a short drive to Acadia National Park.
Once we arrive at the house we found several guide books about Acadia and a book of recommendations which was very helpful. The house was clean and well stocked for a week vacation. There was Tupperware, sandwich bags, tin foil and plenty of pots and pans for us to use.
If you are traveling with your dog, the house does not have a fenced yard but it's one block from a large field and has nice sidewalks all around. Definitely take your dog for coffee one morning at the Coffee Hound. Good coffee, cool canine paintings and treats for your dog.
We would definitely recommend this property for your family vacation."

"The house is amazing. Centrally located, it allowed us to be in downtown Bar Harbor in less than 15 minutes most nights. The pictures don't do the space justice as there is plenty of room in the kitchen for 12 to eat. Also, this house is set up for families with children. There were numerous books and games for the kids to play with so that we didn't have to bring our own. Also, there was a guitar and piano in the house. They thought of everything. And, while you're there, you're truly alone, with just nature around you. A fantastic location and a fantastic house."
