Recent Bar Harbor reviews
"When we were looking for a place to stay in Bar Harbor and found this home we were slightly concerned about the lack of recent reviews but decided to give it a try anyway. I am so glad we did! This home is in a great location close to Acadia, downtown, and hiking trails. We walked into town everyday and also hiked and biked right from the property. Since we were there at a busy time for tourist, when we did drive into town it was a challenge to find a parking space but we were always able to do so. It was so nice to come back to a quiet home after spending time in town! We had 4 adults in our party, and there was plenty of space in the home. We only cooked dinner in one evening, but we could have easily done so every night since the kitchen was so well stocked. The Barkers have many staples in the home that we have had to buy at the store when renting other places such as paper towels, toilet paper, coffee filters, spices and so on. They even left 2 cold locally brewed blueberry beers with frosted mugs in the refrigerator ready for our arrival! We had one extremely minor problem with the dryer and Mr. Barker came right over when we called. We highly recommend a trip to Bar Harbor and that you stay at the Northridge Townhouse when you are there. You will not be disappointed."Guest: Karen B. "We have stayed at this apartment twice now with our daughter (6 mos first visit and 2.5 yrs second visit) and really liked it. The apartment is neat, nicely furnished, and has all that a small family needs. The owners are very nice and the communication has been good with both trips. It is wonderful to spend the day at Acadia and come back to the convenience of Bar Harbor. If you have a small child I would recommend bringing a child gate (we did), as the stairway up to the apartment is open and quite steep. We will definitely be back in the years to come."Guest: Laura Date of Stay: October 2014 Review Submitted: November 2, 2014View listing
"I stayed here with my wife and another couple during September of 2014. We loved how secluded the home was, the beautiful view off the back porch, and the open layout of the house. It was very clean and the large television in the living room was a wonderful addition as we were able to watch movies in the evening. We loved that each bedroom had its own bathroom as it made getting ready in the mornings much easier. We saw a fox walking around in the backyard on our first morning and enjoyed the wildlife that flourishes in the woods around the home. Just a couple of negatives: the internet wifi is over cellular, so we were really limited in how much we could download (we would have been charged extra for anything over 2 GB of data). I understand the limitations of high speed internet in seclusion, but we were disappointed because we had planned on streaming Netflix in the evenings. Not a huge deal, though. Finally, the downstairs doesn't appear to be heated. Perhaps I'm wrong about that, but we certainly couldn't find a way to heat it. This is problematic if you want to use the other queen bed in the house and the weather is chilly (as it was on our visit). We made due with the one queen and one double bed, but it would have been nice to be able to use the two queens. Overall we had a lovely experience and I would highly recommend this property with the two caveats listed above. It's a beautiful and relaxing place to stay."Guest: Josh Date of Stay: September 2014 Review Submitted: October 1, 2014View listing
"We stayed here with our two young children for a week while exploring Acadia and Bar Harbor for the first time. The cottage is beautifully decorated, clean, and very comfortable -- perfect for either a family or a couple looking for a get-away. The small garden and balcony are also very charming, and the neighbors are friendly (as are the owners). But most importantly, the location cannot be beat. Even with young children, we walked into town several times a day. Wonderful restaurants are close by (as are the farmer's market, playgrounds, etc.). The location is also a great base for exploring Acadia. We definitely plan to stay here again!"Guest: Yaron R. Date of Stay: August 2014 Review Submitted: September 14, 2014View listing
Bar Harbor Travel Tips
Get Away to One of the Gems of New England: Bar Harbor Vacation Rentals
In travel guides and books about vacation spots in North America, Bar Harbor is regularly touted as one of the best places to visit and vacation. For this reason, there are many Bar Harbor vacation rentals for people who are interested in Bar Harbor travel.
Bar Harbor travel includes experiences along a rocky coast line and view of magnificent granite cliffs. Bar Harbor is located on the east side of Mount Desert Island. One of the best things about Mount Desert Island lodging and Bar Harbor vacation rentals is that they give vacationers access to Acadia National Park.
Bar Harbor Travel: Live Like Royalty Without Spending Like Royalty
One of the best things about Bar Harbor vacation rentals is how affordable many of them are. In fact. It is quite common for vacationers to get a better deal on Bar Harbor vacation rentals than on other sorts of Mount Desert Island lodging such as hotels.
Here are a few things to consider. When staying in a hotel, you are not able to cook your own meals. In order to have access to even a kitchenette, you'll have to pay extra. And even kitchenettes are not usually sufficient to cook full meals. In Mount Desert Island lodging options such as vacation rentals, fully equipped kitchens are standard. This means that renters don't have to spend an arm and a leg paying for every meal in restaurants.
Also, laundry service in hotels is usually incredibly expensive. For those who plan to hike, bike, boat, and swim, laundry might be necessary. Doing a load of laundry in a vacation rental is as easy as 1-2-3 and won't cost you a thing as the laundry facilities are a standard part of most vacation rentals.
