"stayed at many a place over the years here on this island. This home does not disappoint and is better than the photos. It is truly wonderful, and a great quiet place on the island in the village of Bernard. All lobster boats are still running, and that provides for entertainment on rainy days. The work area helped also when needed. The hiking is better on this side- but we hope the tourists stay in Ba Harbor - Fire pit is wonderful and so is that view of cadillac... we just hope we can get this place again next year, it fills fast. Great value, very clean - we know we have rented alot of places on this island..see you again soon"

"My wife and I had a very enjoyable stay at this cottage. It is perfect for two people looking for a home base to virtually anywhere on Mt. Desert Island. The kitchen was very well equipped with anything a traveler may need (the coffee filters were particularly appreciated). We found the patio to be quite lovely in the morning and a nice way to rest weary legs at the end of the day. A few items that are important to note for future visitors. First, the cottage is on Rt. 102, which means there is some car noise from 6:00 am until early evening. Rt. 102 has a limited shoulder and is not suitable for safe running/walking, in my opinion. Second, the bedroom faces east, making it rather bright in the morning even with a shade and blinds. The final point is not related to the cottage though worth noting. Bass Harbor is remotely located relative to the rest of the island. Southwest Harbor is less than 5 minutes away, but Bar Harbor can be as much as 45 minutes with traffic. Overall, a great place for a couple looking to get away from it all and take in the pleasures of the quiet side (be sure to go over to Seawall with a bottle of wine and some cheese, it's totally legal!)."

"We stayed here with 2 teens and a tween and we all just LOVED the house and the property. The owners don't just view this as an investment property, they clearly stay at and love this house. It is well maintained, beautifully appointed, and stocked with more than you have the right to expect any rental property to be stocked with--musical instruments, linens, restaurant, menus, basic pantry items, laundry detergent, games, movies, books, umbrellas, fans, etc., etc. It was an easy drive to the park loop road, the carriage roads and downtown Bar Harbor, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle to be able to appreciate the beautiful night sky, find owls, and light a bonfire to enjoy the peacefulness of the woods. I had to email the owner about something and she was kind, thoughtful and helpful. We don't usually repeat vacations, but we just may return to this beautiful location!"

"Well appointed home with lots of amenities. Wish I'd brought my binoculars as that was the only thing, besides a boat which I could have rented nearby, that wasn't available in the house. The dock, the sound, the habitat, the view, the porches, the woodstove, kayaks, etc. all well designed for my family's week on MDI next to Acadia. Should have done 2 weeks!"
