"The chalet turned out to be a perfect place for my husband and me and our two dogs.
Bar Harbor is jam-packed with tourists in August and we enjoyed taking a 10-min. drive to town when we wanted and then having a quiet retreat to come home to. Acadia was just as convenient. We spent much time relaxing on the deck, watching the dogs run around the large yard, and taking walks along the quiet, pebbly beach (that was pretty much our own) and over to Hadley Point.
Inside, there was everything we needed and when we couldn’t figure out how to tap into the wireless, Joe called us right back.
The cottage is nicer inside than the pictures show. The wood is classy and rustic and the cabinets look new. The loft is adorable and spacious although we had no need to use it. The house would be fine for a family of four as long as - with the open layout - you wanted to know everything your kids were doing at all times.
Our only pet peeve had nothing to do with this house. We remain mystified why the residents next door keep a large blue commercial van at the bottom of their driveway, blocking their water view and leaving us to ponder every day if it’s possible to get tired of such a lovely spot."

"We stayed for a week with our two boys in their late teens. The free wi-fi gave the boys something to do while my husband and I read books on the newly built screened-in porch. The property was quietly secluded away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Bar Harbor. It was impeccably clean and had just the right amount of space. The four mountain bikes allowed us to tour the carriage roads without having to drag our own bikes with us and my husband and son enjoyed taking the canoe out on the calm inlet off Town Landing Road. We highly recommend the property for those seeking a quiet retreat."

"We had an AMAZING week here.
Our large and multi-generational family of seven stayed at this house in July. We had a fantastic visit and we plan to come back next year. We hiked several mountains, ate in nearby restaurants, swam in a nearby pond, and walked to the water and rocks from the house.
Everyday had a new and fun activity.
The spaciousness of the 3-level house was perfect for the three generations of our family. People could work, rest, or watch TV downstairs and not hear any noise from the activities of the other family members. The several large bedrooms also let us spread out and have privacy when needed.
The entire house is beautiful, with light wood and while walls. The property is expansive, with a garden, yard, and path to the water. My 3 year old picked blueberries from the many bushes planted there. Paths through the Blagden Preserve provided an easy walk to the water, and our child loved looking for shellfish at the beach during low tide. Next time we will bring binoculars so that we can see the seals on the rocks at the Preserve.
We enjoyed hiking, playing golf at the nearby public courses, and watching the boats come into the harbor. We didn't have time to kayak or ride bikes, but hope to on our next visit. The roads around the house have few cars, and would be ideal for biking, and the Acadia Carriage roads are also nearby. We want to take the kayak out next time, as you can launch it just down the street from the house.
We HIGHLY recommend this house. The house itself and its surroundings are wonderful. There are many great dining opportunities on the island, in nearby town hill, bar harbor, and southwest. But every night, we rushed home to watch an amazing sunset over the water."

"I just want to thank our host Delores Shields for providing a wonderful place to stay.
We were able to walk downtown, to the historical society, museum, and many restaurants.
The home was immaculate, with laundry facilities provided. The beds were comfortable too.
Delores was a very charming lady with lots of beneficial information. Thank you again!"
