"Well appointed home with lots of amenities. Wish I'd brought my binoculars as that was the only thing, besides a boat which I could have rented nearby, that wasn't available in the house. The dock, the sound, the habitat, the view, the porches, the woodstove, kayaks, etc. all well designed for my family's week on MDI next to Acadia. Should have done 2 weeks!"

"It was delightful staying at this real (but fully renovated) farmhouse! It became home base for our week on MDI. Water Signs was meticulously organized and stocked with everything a couple - or large family - could ever want or need. It's prime location afforded us the ability to travel anywhere on the island and in Acadia in 20 minutes. Legendary Abel's Lobster Pound is just steps down the road and to be visited for dinner! Much thanks to the thoughtful and responsive owner. We hope to return."

"If you want a place where you can get directly into the mountains, this is it! From this house we hiked up the South Ridge of Cadillac Mountain, to the North Ridge - all the way on trails into Bar Harbor. We also did a nice hike that started at Sand Beach, up the Bee hive, over Gorham Mountain, to the Otter Cliffs and through a surprise shortcut path right back to our house. You can't beat this location. Not only can you get out quickly for short or long hikes, you can also hop on or off the Island Explorer Bus that stops right outside the house.
The house itself was great, too. We stayed with my parents, adult brother and our young son. Everyone had their own spacious bedroom (the photos don't quite convey how large the rooms are). The kitchen was well stocked (though the pots could use some updating and deep cleaning) and the appliances all were in good working condition. The house had lots of travel guides, maps and tourist information - so we didn't need to look anything up. The living room couches were a bit tired and saggy, but there were other adequate seating options, too. The beds were comfy and we even got a change of sheets (which was nice because we needed the flannel early in the week and the cotton sheets when it got a little warmer).
I don't view this to be negative, but some may - there was no cell phone reception. However, they have a phone there for local calls and emergencies. Honestly, I loved not being able to stay connected while I was on vacation, so it didn't bother me. The internet wi-fi was fast and reliable, so if you must...you can.
It was great to have a rental with nice towels, linens, toilet paper and basic soap supplies too. I thought the towel allotment was more than adequate, especially with the washer and dryer available.
Thanks - if we're going to Acadia next year, we'll definitely book again!"

"My husband and I spent a week at the Knollette and it was absolutely perfect. The house itself is very well-appointed - comfortable, attractive, cozy, with everything we needed. It was a great place to come home to after canoeing, hiking, and eating lobster (LOTS of lobster). The size and space were perfect for the two of us and all our gear (including bike and canoe). And the location is spot on. The house itself, located in a wooded section of a dead-end road near the causeway, feels very private, but it is within easy walking distance of Beal's Lobster Pier (did I mention lobster?) as well as the great restaurants in Southwest Harbor. It was close to all the places we wanted to hike and paddle, and the ability to walk to town for dinner and ice cream made every evening so relaxing. Really, the perfect vacation rental."
