"We rented this house for two families with a total of four adults and four children, ages 6-11. It was the perfect home base for Acadia National Park; we were close to the entire park and just a 10-minute drive to parts of it. This is the quiet side of the island and not touristy like Bar Harbor but it is easy to get to Bar Harbor for food or shopping.
The house has a gigantic family room with a pool table and every possible entertainment amenity. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and cooking tools and drawers and cabinets are labeled, which is a brilliant idea. If you get tired of cooking we recommend the pizza and baked goods at Little Notch.
Hosts were gracious and generous, and answered even the tiniest questions quickly. They even replaced a phonograph needle for us so we could show our kids how a record player works. :)
One note: the house has five bedrooms, including the downstairs apartment. One of the upstairs bedrooms has its own bathroom but the room is accessible only through another bedroom. This worked fine for us but might be useful information.
We would rent this house again."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Bass Terre! This house is in a beautiful spot - a private cove with amazing ocean vistas! The grounds are well kept with lots of flowers - a comfortable deck and only one distant neighbor. The house is over 100 years old but in great condition - bathrooms, appliances and cable TV all work just fine. The bedrooms and mattresses are good and with the silence and cool night breezes, we all slept like babies! The living/dining area is spacious and all 5 adults (of varying ages) were very comfortable there. If we get back to Maine and Bass Terre some day, we will definitely take our dogs - there's a huge garage attached to the house that works if they're wet or need to be confined while you're out and about. The owners provided an excellent list of restaurants and activities that we used daily to plan our outings. Acadia National Park is the highlight and we spent several days exploring different parts of the park - including the top of Cadillac Mountain, Loop Drive along the rocky shore, the popovers at Jordan Pond and several hikes around lakes. We found Bar Harbor to be a crowded tourist trap so we wandered through some of the smaller fishing village shops and restaurants. Southwest Harbor, Somesville and Northeast Harbor are all charming villages. We highly recommend seeing Asticou Gardens! But most of all, we enjoyed returning to Bass Terre in the evening and watching the sun set."

"When we were looking for a place to stay in Bar Harbor and found this home we were slightly concerned about the lack of recent reviews but decided to give it a try anyway. I am so glad we did! This home is in a great location close to Acadia, downtown, and hiking trails. We walked into town everyday and also hiked and biked right from the property. Since we were there at a busy time for tourist, when we did drive into town it was a challenge to find a parking space but we were always able to do so. It was so nice to come back to a quiet home after spending time in town! We had 4 adults in our party, and there was plenty of space in the home. We only cooked dinner in one evening, but we could have easily done so every night since the kitchen was so well stocked. The Barkers have many staples in the home that we have had to buy at the store when renting other places such as paper towels, toilet paper, coffee filters, spices and so on. They even left 2 cold locally brewed blueberry beers with frosted mugs in the refrigerator ready for our arrival! We had one extremely minor problem with the dryer and Mr. Barker came right over when we called. We highly recommend a trip to Bar Harbor and that you stay at the Northridge Townhouse when you are there. You will not be disappointed."

"I have stayed at the Keyhole a few times over the years, and it always feels like coming home. I am a photographer, and couldn't stop taking pictures while on the island, it was beautiful everywhere we went. We enjoyed delicious lobsters, and quiet breakfasts on the deck. We never managed to hike all the trails we wanted to, and I will be happy to come back to do some more."
