"We stayed for a week ( I wish it was longer) -5 adults and 2 children. It was very comfortable.
House is very beautifully furnished and has everything you'll need while there. It is very clean and well-maintained. Location is perfect - walking distance to town. Alan is very helpful & atentive. You can call him anytime with questions. We had a great time in Acadia - hiking, biking, blueberry picking & good eating. Good dinners at Eat-a-Pita, Rogue & Sips. Lobster at Beals. We'll definetly stay at this house again."

"This house is truly a favorite of mine. This was an overdue return visit since I kept remembering the view and lovely town and have been wishing to return. And it didn't disappoint!
Every time I walk into the living room, every bit of tension just melts away when I see the wall of windows with that black blue water peeking through the trees. I can only imagine that someone must have planned the grounds perfectly to provide lovely yet natural looking flowers, shrubs, and flora and skillfully placed trees that allow for an incredible view without sacrificing privacy. Just a perfect location since it is only moments to Southwest Harbor yet you feel like you are a million miles from everything. Great star watching at night by the way.
In my previous review, I cited how well stocked the house is, and if anything, I think the house is even better stocked than last time; Tons of kitchen utensils, cookware, dishes, even books and games. It also has good, reliable internet. The owners are as helpful as can be. This place is very versatile and perfect for a family get away since it is kid friendly with lots of chairs for seating at the huge granite kitchen Island or the long harvest style dining table, or great for a romantic getaway or a girls weekend. I do like the fact it is so nice and quiet but yet Bar Harbor is only a short drive away."

"Our family use to camp on Mt. Desert Island years ago. We decided it was time to return but with real beds instead of tents and sleeping bags. Sunnymead is so charming and has such character. With adult children, we needed a house for everyone to have their own space. Our family of eight fit nicely here. The house is older and more like a real Maine cottage. It is well maintained and very clean. There are plenty of towels and bathrooms for everyone! The bedrooms are good size and the beds comfortable. We loved all the windows to open for the magnificent Maine breezes. The house is well supplied with dishes, glassware, pots and pans. The grounds are very nice with a good sized yard for children, surrounded by tall, lush trees. Our grandson LOVED the swing! We enjoyed dinner in the gazebo as well has taking our lobster dinner to the private shore area that is a brief walk from the house. Just remember flashlights if you stay til dark to stargaze. There are several picnic tables at the shore. Our grandson loved the history of the house as it relates to the book Fudgmania, and had fun looking for all the items mentioned. The house has one TV but you are in Maine and on vacation so I encourage you to not think about that! There is Internet available. The owner is so helpful. We had a minor issue in the first day and she was easy to contact and it was handled immediately. The house is not far from Southwest Harbor and is just off the road so it is very quiet and peaceful. Check out Cookies and More just up the street, or Little Notch Bakery for breakfast pastry in town. I hope it doesn't take me another 15 years to return!!"

"All four of us agree that this is the one! We were very comfortable in this house with plenty of space to sleep, relax and unpack. Each bedroom had tons of drawer and closet space with more hangers than you'll know what to do with! The kitchen was wonderful and had everything we needed and more and we all found the window seats (there are three of them in three different rooms) a nice place to escape to read a book, play on an iPad or have a glass of wine while unwinding from the day's adventures. We walked into town most nights for dinner and to pick up supplies for the next day. It was nice to be so close yet hear no road or downtown noises at the house.
It was hot on MDI during our vacation week so most days we could be found at Sand Beach, building sand fortresses, jumping the waves and making new friends. We tried a new hike this summer called Ship Harbor. It was an easy hike compared to what we normally do but we all enjoyed it. Per the kids request (ages 12 and 9) we went back to the family friendly show at ImprovAcadia in Bar Harbor again this year. The comedians are excellent and since the show is based on audience participation, it is different each time. We highly recommend it to all ages!
Gina, the owner, has provided everything you need to make your stay pretty awesome. She also provided us with contact numbers in case there was a problem with the house. We didn't have to use them at all but it's comforting to know help is close by if you need it."
