  • A perfect stay for mother/ daughter bicycle adventure

"My mother and I found this farmhouse cottage to be very quiet, relaxing and clean for our short vacation. We had a lovely stay in this perfectly spacious cottage for two adults -two porches, large bathroom with washer and dryer, and open kitchen/dining/living room. A highlight for me was the strong water pressure in the shower after our days of hiking and biking. The island shuttle stop is a short walk/ride near the Southwest Harbor post office. The free shuttle schedule can get a bit confusing. To catch the bus going into Bar Harbor-stand across the street from the marked bus stop area."

  • Memorable Home, Memorable Vacation!

"This home was the best! It really was everything we could want in a vacation home. The teens were having a fit about not going to the beach as usual, so they were a hard sell - but even they said this was one of the best vacations ever. Jennifer was extremely receptive to our questions (even the dumb ones). The house was located in a great spot close to Southwest Harbor. A main grocery store was at the bottom of the hill, and the town was minutes away by car. We were so glad we didn't stay in Bar Harbor - it is a lovely place, and we went there twice, but the crowds - forget it.... Southwest Harbor was quaint and had everything we needed. Good restaurants, ice cream, bike rentals and fairly close to all the places we wanted to visit on the Island. We were two families - we stuck the teens up in the bunk bedroom (top of A-frame). It wasn't until the 3rd day we realized there was a pool table in the basement! The porch which runs the length of the house was just gorgeous, looking out over the woods. There were a few homes up on our road, but you couldn't see them through the forest. The stars were amazing, especially from the hot tub. We were there the 2nd week of July and the weather was great - never had to use the AC, always a breeze... We called the house "our green cabin", but it was far from a cabin! I have done many vacation rentals over the years, and it was so refreshing to stay in a home that was really someone's vacation home - not an investment property with zero personal touches. Fun stuff we did on MDI: rented bikes and road around the ponds, having lunch at Jordan House (we timed the ride with help from bike store in SW Harbor and made reservations outside) - beautiful! We enjoyed sunset atop Cadillac Mt., after enjoying a lobster meal at one of the roadside lobster pounds (near north entrance to park). We spent an afternoon at Echo Lake for a "refreshing" swim. A special highlight was going to Sand Beach on the loop road, views were breathtaking. We took a lunch, left our stuff on the beach and hiked up and around Great Head Trail - a little challenging for some of us, but well worth it. I would highly recommend Eat a Pita restaurant for any meal in SW Harbor. My thanks to our hosts, and should we go Northeast - Downeast again, we will be sure to rent this special home."

  • Wonderful!

"We loved our time at Seawall and hated to have to leave! The cottage was exactly as described and the owner's were wonderful hosts! She had fresh cut flowers waiting for us in two rooms, and gave us so many great books to help us know where to hike, bike and kayak during our visit. We have never had a more perfect vacation and can't wait to be able to come back."

  • The total package !

"We're just back from our week in Southwest Harbor and we were blown away by the location of this house. The view overlooking the Bay , the dock , the ''cozyness'' of the house , it all adds up to a perfect vacation. Being there early september , we got some not so warm mornings , but the stove more than make up for this situation. We spent some good times , sitting in front of the Bay , with some ''treasure'' hunting while the tide was low ! It was our second trip to Mount Desert Island and one of the main reason we came back was the Acadia National Park. What a great place , with out of this world scenic views and all kinds of trails for all hikers. Steve , the owner , is so caring , he will make your stay a lot easier. Always available , he did , in the weeks leading to our stay , send us weekly brochure about things to do in the area. Can't ask for more ! Thank you. I will not hesitate to recommend this house , particularly if you're a nature lover."
