"We have vacationed all over the beautiful Maine coast many times over the past 30 years. Mt. Desert Island is our particular favorite due to the astounding beauty, tranquility, wildlife viewing, and diverse activities available. My working life has enabled me to visit coastal Maine many times, so Maine always stands foremost in my memory when choosing a vacation destination. This year we required a very special location so our far flung family could gather together. On paper FJORD HOME met every requirement we envisioned. The reality is that FJORD HOME exceeded all our expectations. It is the perfect vacation home. The owner could not be more gracious and accommodating. The house is outfitted with every amenity. The other reviews on this site mention many of the outdoor opportunities available, and they are all seconded. However one one could spend a week alone simply exploring the hiking trails in Acadia NP, not to mention the cycling available on the 55 miles on “carriage roads”."

"I can't say enough great things about this beautiful gem near Acadia National Park. The owner has gone out of her way to make it welcoming and enjoyable for visitors. The kitchen is more than well equipped; there are two full refrigerators and an empty pantry in the center that proved incredibly convenient for us to store the groceries we bought. We enjoyed using the puzzles in the living room, which has a large table and fireplace. Each room has a ceiling fan and the bathrooms were perfect. There is a pretty flower garden and yard, and the nearest Park entrance is not far away. We also found the location to be very convenient to Bar Harbor where we could use a less traveled approach. The one thing you should know, is that even though there are 4 lovely bedrooms (each with a hamper and empty dressers) 3 of the bedrooms are accessed through each other. The bedroom on the third floor with 4 single beds can only be reached through a bedroom with a queen bed which is accessed from the bedroom with a double bed. We were three couples and it worked out fine for us. I would definitely choose to stay here again the next time I visit Acadia."

"This lovely house afforded our family a great opportunity to all be together for meals and socializing. There were 17 of us…adults and grown children. During the day family members went off hiking or touring but we would get together for dinners in the huge dinning room. The house is in a very convenient location… minutes from the Park entrance at Seal Harbor and no more than 10 minutes to Jordan Pond House. The back terrace is large and has a million dollar view."

"The NortherNest was the perfect place for our vacation. The house is close enough to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, yet far enough away to get a more private atmosphere. After a long day hiking, we were able to sit back on the deck and watch the tide come in. When it got chilly after the sun started going down, we were able to move right into the sunroom so we could continue to take in that amazing view. Even while cooking in the kitchen, you can still get a glimpse of the mountains in the distance. The views are simply breathtaking.
The views weren’t the only thing that we took advantage of while at the Nest! It was so nice to walk down to the beach and sit in the chairs and be able to stick your feet in the bay. My brave fiancé even went for a quick swim! (If you know anything about the water in Maine, it is cold!) We also used the kayaks that were on the property. This was a huge plus for us since we didn’t have to bring our own!
Our two dogs absolutely loved the deck, access to the beach, and the yummy treats that were left for them!
We truly could not have asked for a better place and we will be booking here again next summer!"
