  • Perfect in every way for our visit to Acadia National Park

"Virginia, My wife and I never formally thanked you for our stay back in October. We had a great time, and loved staying on the quieter side of the island. Yes we were there just as the Fed closed down, but that did not impede our travel plans in the least. As a matter of fact if may have made them better. My wife and I had planned on biking the carriage trails and hiking in the park, so those flimsy barricades were no match for our trusty 2 wheels and legs. We actually felt like we had the park to ourselves (more or less). The only negative was there were no restrooms open….but that’s what the woods are for anyway…right! And we didn’t get to have popovers at the Jordan Pond house. But we did eat our lunch one day right on the pond, and the next day we ate on the lawn of the restaurant. We did do some hiking, but did not get to climb Cadillac Mountain, as it was not easy to get to from the perimeter of the park without a car. But everything else we came to do we were able to do. Lots of good restaurants in the area. We did eat at a lobster pound and had a lobster roll another day. My wife and I are not big lobster eaters, so that was more of a mission than a passion, but now we can say we did it. We did stumble upon a unique place called the Common Grounds Café. Not sure if you are familiar with it, but it is out by the seawall. It is more of a soup kitchen for the poor where visitors make donations for a modest breakfast (which did include popovers) and the proceeds feed locals during the winter months. There were some characters there and that experience will give us stories to tell for years to come. Your place is amazing! I want to affirm you for the outstanding job you did in remodeling the barn into such a lovely cozy hideaway. The use of space was superb. The finish out was first class. And the location and relaxation factor were out of this world! We could have easily stayed for two weeks and not gotten tired of Acadia, and the enjoyment of hanging around your cottage. We stay at a lot of VRBO properties and yours is definitely one of the nicest and coolest places we have stayed. I’m sorry we did not get to meet you, but by the way your place looks I can tell you are an outstanding individual. Peace and Blessings as we move into the holidays. And of course Merry Christmas!"

  • Great Rental Home

"We (10 of us-5 adults/5 teenagers) just spent a week at this property and absolutely loved it. It was a perfect place for the whole family. We loved the pool, the tennis court and the waterfront views. The house was very clean, spacious and offered everything that we needed. The owners are friendly and answered any and all of the questions that we had. I would highly recommend this property to everyone."

  • Exactly what we Expected! A+++++

"When the description states this is "Ocean Front"...that is so true, 30 feet from the deck, the "yard" drops off down the rocky coast to the Ocean! To wake up to this view everyday took our breath away. This cabin is stocked with necessities. And if you want them, your linens can be included, too. We used the heater everyday, and loved the gas stove in the living room in the evenings while reading and relaxing. Having Wi-Fi available was a plus, because the only service available on this point is AT&T. You have to drive up to Southwest Harbor, about 15 minutes, to get Verizon or other services. The Kitchen has what you need to create a nice dinner, and set a pretty table. The coffee maker makes it easy to rise in the morning and just look out over the ocean while having that first cup! We were just minutes away from everything, but loved coming back to our cozy quarters in the evenings. The owners are very kind, and straight-forward. I am disabled, and use a rollator/walker, and sometimes a wheelchair. I loved the easy entry ... only 2 steps to get into the cabin. The parking is on gravel by the island side deck. The deck has the two steps up from the gravel to the entry height. The deck also hosts a grill and Charcoal bricks for cooking. We did eat a few meals in, mostly breakfasts. We loved tasting the local cuisine, and the price for lobster, crab and seafood made eating out so possible! Cleaning before we left was easy, because all the materials needed were supplied. We will treasure these memories of our week vacation on Mount Desert Island forever. This cabin has 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed (very comfy) and the other with two twin beds... also comfy. Dressers and closets are available for your use during your stay. While there is no laundry facilities, there is a folding drying rack, so some hand laundry can be done and left to dry. Gott's Store, a local grocery, carries everything you'll need and only 10 minutes from the cabin. If you want a Walmart, one is located in Ellsworth, only 45 minutes away. One suggestion... arrive in the daytime... it is VERY dark, and few street lights are around. Finding Seaside Cottages in the dark is near impossible. We were so thankful for cell phone coverage, and for Kathy's patience while we inched our way toward the resort so late at night."

  • Wonderful Winter Retreat

"Our stay at this beautiful home on the "quiet side" of Mount Desert Island exceeded our expectations---in the words of Mainers, it's a "keepah". The views of Goose Cove and Blue Hill Bay on both the first and second floors are everything the pictures promise and more. The views from the master bedroom suite are panoramic and bird's eye, looking out at tree-top level. The house itself was clean and quite comfortable (furniture and beds) and quiet as it's located on ten acres of property. It's a short walk (less than five minutes) to the water where we saw lobster boats still moored in the dead of winter engulfed in sea smoke. The owners were very responsive and made sure the driveway was both shoveled and sanded as we dealt with snow and ice. Our only disappointment was not being able to figure out how to use the blu-ray DVD player; but then, we sometimes have difficulty with this in our own home!"
