Comfortable, full-stocked cottage with wonderful views
"My husband, 11-year-old daughter and I spent a week at the end of August at this cottage. We had compared a lot of houses on Mount Desert Island before selecting this one. We were not disappointed. The cottage is spotlessly clean, well-stocked and comfortable. The master is a large size. The second bedroom is cozy and has a terrific view. The deck was our favorite place to relax after a busy day of hiking/sailing/rock-climbing. It is about a 15-20 minute drive into Bar Harbor. Very peaceful. The washer/dryer was convenient. The kitchen is fully stocked. It even had a coffee grinder! We have rented houses before and never had such a nicely stocked kitchen. Wi-Fi is good. The upstairs great room was a great place to relax and watch TV in the evening. It was removed enough that it did not disturb anyone who wanted to turn in early.
The listing description and photos are accurate.
Our hosts were gracious, friendly and helpful. Their recommendations and suggestions made our stay better. They recommended the Seafood Ketch in Bass Harbor. We enjoyed it so much we went back on our last day in Bar Harbor.
I highly recommend this rental."

"This cottage was everything we were looking for in our Main vacation. It's off the beaten path and away from tourists but close enough to enjoy all the amenities of Bar Harbor.it's located in a very quiet secluded area and has a spectacular view. It happened to be unseasonably cold while we were there, so,we did not get to Open the cottage windows and enjoy the ocean breeze. We did, however, thoroughly enjoyed the fireplace. Laura is an excellent hostess and always promptly responded to my emails. She also has many great restaurant suggestions. We enjoyed the cottage so much, my mother rented the cottage next year, and we hope to join her during her time there."

"My family and I enjoyed a week at this beautiful cottage by the sea! Southwest Harbor is breathtakingly beautiful, this charming home was w wonderful place to come back to at the end of a day of biking, hiking and swimming. The yard was large enough to set up games and the large front porch a great place to gather (Mosquitos were our only challenge). Bedrooms large and beds very comfortable, bathrooms have all been updated. The only drawback was the furniture in the living room, dining room. Very worn down and not suitable for 6 ft. Tall men. Also the internet service was not dependable. Other than those issues our memories of this vacation house will be treasured."

"This home was the best! It really was everything we could want in a vacation home. The teens were having a fit about not going to the beach as usual, so they were a hard sell - but even they said this was one of the best vacations ever. Jennifer was extremely receptive to our questions (even the dumb ones). The house was located in a great spot close to Southwest Harbor. A main grocery store was at the bottom of the hill, and the town was minutes away by car. We were so glad we didn't stay in Bar Harbor - it is a lovely place, and we went there twice, but the crowds - forget it.... Southwest Harbor was quaint and had everything we needed. Good restaurants, ice cream, bike rentals and fairly close to all the places we wanted to visit on the Island. We were two families - we stuck the teens up in the bunk bedroom (top of A-frame). It wasn't until the 3rd day we realized there was a pool table in the basement! The porch which runs the length of the house was just gorgeous, looking out over the woods. There were a few homes up on our road, but you couldn't see them through the forest. The stars were amazing, especially from the hot tub. We were there the 2nd week of July and the weather was great - never had to use the AC, always a breeze... We called the house "our green cabin", but it was far from a cabin! I have done many vacation rentals over the years, and it was so refreshing to stay in a home that was really someone's vacation home - not an investment property with zero personal touches. Fun stuff we did on MDI: rented bikes and road around the ponds, having lunch at Jordan House (we timed the ride with help from bike store in SW Harbor and made reservations outside) - beautiful! We enjoyed sunset atop Cadillac Mt., after enjoying a lobster meal at one of the roadside lobster pounds (near north entrance to park). We spent an afternoon at Echo Lake for a "refreshing" swim. A special highlight was going to Sand Beach on the loop road, views were breathtaking. We took a lunch, left our stuff on the beach and hiked up and around Great Head Trail - a little challenging for some of us, but well worth it. I would highly recommend Eat a Pita restaurant for any meal in SW Harbor. My thanks to our hosts, and should we go Northeast - Downeast again, we will be sure to rent this special home."
