Recent Mount Desert Island property reviews

  • Perfect Location, Perfect Accomodations!

"As the owner of Mount Desert Island Real Estate and a Somesville resident, I knew exactly where I wanted my family members to stay when visiting the Island. With the main house and the apartment there was more than enough room for everyone to gather including a seperate play room for the kids. Several family meals where held at the house including a final night lobster feast with lobsters bought right on the dock at Beal's in Southwest Harbor and boiled using fresh seawater collected from Somes Sound just across the road. What fun for everyone! The property was immaculate and everything was in place for a terrific and successful stay!"

  • Shore Path Estate, Bar Harbor

"It was a beautiful place, close to the town and still far away from it."

  • Our Winter Retreat

"We have enjoyed Paul's cottage for our last seven February vacations. Mt Desert Island in the winter is fantastic! A day cross-country skiing or snowshoeing in Acadia is scenic and beautifully quiet. Returning to the cottage each afternoon and enjoying the fireplace, warm beverages, water views, sunsets and seabirds visible right outside the cottage window is heavenly. Sleeping in the loft bedroom, watching the moon, stars and lighthouse beacons is as romantic as it gets. Paul's cottage has everything you need, Kathy is extremely helpful, and we will keep returning to this amazing location. The pictures show it all except the tranquility of winter. We do recommend Paul's cottage to our friends but only if they promise not to compete for our week!"

  • A Great Time At The Great Harbor Compound

"If you are considering a trip to Maine and Acadia National Park put this property on your list of places to stay! Located on the "quiet side" of the Island, this property is a short distance away from downtown Southwest Harbor. You can walk into town for shopping, pie, or ice cream, or take a stroll to the end of the street to go deep sea fishing or sit down to a Lobster feast. You can ride your bike around town, play tennis nearby, walk to hiking trails, or kayak from the dock. It's all here! Additionally, if you want to check out Acadia National Park you are only a short drive (or bus ride) away from fantastic hiking, biking, fishing, kayaking, and swimming options. The property itself is an interesting collection of buildings that are well furnished and contain everything you will need for a great vacation. Our family rented out the entire Compound for the week and found it to be the perfect place from which to stage our adventures or to just hang out at the house(s) and enjoy the beautiful view of Southwest Harbor. The owners, Jon and Nancy, were exceptionally helpful in suggesting fun activities for our entire family to enjoy. We were particularly grateful to have access to multiple kayaks and a canoe to enable everyone in our group to enjoy time exploring on the water. Additionally, Jon and Nancy were very helpful in answering questions about the property and in attending to an issue that came up with one of the TVs in the house. If you are looking for a great place to stay near Acadia National Park we would highly recommend this property."
