Excellent location for visiting Acadia National Park and Mount Desert
"I stayed at the Corson Cottage in mid August and found the place to be a great central location for visiting Mount Desert Island and all it has to offer. The cottage was extremely well kept and had everything you would need to stay for the week. I was able to rent for just 3 nights , even though usually weekly, due to an opening. I am very glad I was able to. There are plenty of places to visit/hike all around the cottage. It is just a short drive to the shops/restaurants in Southwest Harbor. It is a short drive to Bar Harbor or Bass Harbor. The apartment has an upper level which has two twin beds. Downstairs had a queen bed which was very comfortable. There is a porch out back where you can sit or grill (just make sure you use bug spray in August). Mary was helpful with information when I asked but did not bother you at all. I would recommend this cottage for any visits to the area, great value."

"I have fallen in love with our National Parks and enlisted three long-time friends to tackle Acadia with me. We hunted high and low for the perfect lodging on MDI and surely found it at Summerside Cottage. Location is so ideal for all activities--we walked to all our meals (except for Thurston's which is the best lobstah experience on MDI), walked to kayaking and biking rentals and to the Village Green to catch the Island Explorer and all of the park entrances are a short drive away. The cottage is sparkling clean and wonderfully appointed for four or more. Bedding and towels are plentiful and great quality and the kitchen has everything a group will need. We all commented on how comfy all the beds are. We met the neighbors one night while sitting on the back deck having a glass of wine before walking to dinner and felt a part of the neighborhood. Logan and Hong gave us many ideas for restaurants and activities and were immediately responsive to any questions we had. We all would recommend this cottage for a variety of groups and I would love to return one day to Acadia, Bar Harbor and Summerside Cottage!"

"My husband and 14 year old spent a week here, our first visit to Acadia. The pictures just do not do this jewel of a home justice. What an enchanting place. Beautifully remodeling of this 1903 family home, complete with evidence of family love and nurturing, where you can look in every nook and cranny and find the owners' personal touches providing everything anyone could ever need or want. Waking up in the huge master bedroom with the view of the harbor made me feel like I never wanted to leave the room. A incredibly well appointed kitchen also with every item you could ever want or need. The great room leading out to the spacious deck was heavenly. And let's not forget the grounds. Front back and sides all lsndscaped beautifully. The care taken in this property totally exceeded my expectations. Oh- and the bookshelves! I wanted to read every book in the house! I not only loved the house, but felt a closeness with the family that owns it. Just the way they have everything as I would in my own home and the added details that they took care in providing to make it a comfortable and relaxing vacation made this one of the best rental experiences ever.
A word of caution - this is a home that you do not want to treat thoughtlessly - if you do not take care, it would be a terrible shame to see this home "trashed". It is a pristine jewel and we tried to care for it as if it were our own.
As for the location, we loved being on the quiet side of the island, driving around was part of the fun. I would only say the only complaint I have about our vacation was that if we came back i would have to buy my own lobsters and cook them myself. I could not find a hard shelled lobster (so late in the season I suppose- we learned a great deal about the lobster trade, having done two tours) and I felt the restaurants were overpriced. To boot, I often do buy my own lobsters, and I really questioned the how they pass off chicken lobsters as pound and 1/2s. Other than that, everything we did, from relaxing at the house to all the adventures around the island, made this a great vacation! Thank you Reine and Bill and the rest of your family for sharing your home with us!!! Laura and Kevin"

"The house location was close to Acadia Ntl. Park and downtown Bar Harbor. It is on a quiet street. It is a little small and outdated with electrical, bath and kitchen, but it worked out great for our family of five (three boys). The laundry was really nice to have. The owners were great to work with and they were very helpful with ideas for how to get around on our bikes bypassing busy roads. The internet worked very well. They had lots of basics for us in the kitchen, bathroom and laundry. There is a little front yard our boys played in and there is a large grassy area at a school yard very close by. We walked to Bar Harbor several times without it being too far for us and our children (ages 8, 11 and 14)."
