"This was our first visit to Maine. We were thrilled with the amazing view of the water and easy access for kayaking! (We were right across from several islands to explore) We spent most nights outside enjoying the view on the very cozy outdoor furniture next to the fire. The kitchen was well equipped with anything and everything you would need. High end cookwear and knife set! (We are from New Orleans so we like a good kitchen to cook in). The owner was easy to reach when we had a minor issue. The barn at Mainstay was fabulous."

"The house location was close to Acadia Ntl. Park and downtown Bar Harbor. It is on a quiet street. It is a little small and outdated with electrical, bath and kitchen, but it worked out great for our family of five (three boys). The laundry was really nice to have. The owners were great to work with and they were very helpful with ideas for how to get around on our bikes bypassing busy roads. The internet worked very well. They had lots of basics for us in the kitchen, bathroom and laundry. There is a little front yard our boys played in and there is a large grassy area at a school yard very close by. We walked to Bar Harbor several times without it being too far for us and our children (ages 8, 11 and 14)."

"My extended family stayed a week at the Captain Nathan Clark house and we found it an ideal location for our family reunion. The house itself is historic and beautiful, and with it's innumerable additions and remodels over many decades it has a funky charm as well. We found it as comfortable as an old shoe! It actually has two kitchens (which we designated as "food" and "beverage") 2 family rooms, as well as a formal dining room with a view of the harbor. The layout allows for many people to cook and eat together, but also to find space to spread out and find peace and quiet. There are two different outside porch areas and extensive yards and gardens. My teenage kids enjoyed the fascinating old books and great collection of games and puzzles.
It is only a 1 minute walk to Beal's Lobster Pier, where we ate MANY times during the week (and also watched an amazing fireworks display on the Fourth), and an easy stroll into town. A great surprise and wonderful addition to town is the Common Good Cafe, where for a donation to the local soup kitchen you can eat your fill of the BEST popovers on the island (Sorry, Jordan Pond House!). Another nice surprise: just a very short walk up the side street to the lovely grounds of the Claremont Hotel and Xanthus restaurant and dockside cocktail bar. It was nice to be staying in the relative tranquility of Southwest Harbor with bustling Bar Harbor being still just a short drive away. Southwest Harbor is real "working water" with fishing boats, Coast Guard and more. It was a great reunion and we will be back!"

Extremely clean and neat and equipped with everything .
"this is our first time staying here and are very happy with our accommodations. The bed is very comfortable , the place is quite, the surroundings are very pretty with kevin and Donna always outdoors fixing things up . It's quite nice to see Kevin with his chicken and ducks. Kevin also takes much pride in his flowers."
