  • Perfect in every way

"My husband, 6 year old daughter and I had the opportunity to spend a relaxing week here in late July. It was a beautiful week in a gorgeous spot. I was concerned that the cabin is on a pond, however after doing a little searching online, I realized that this is a 740 acre pond! We saw a few people out enjoying the water, but overall it was very peaceful. The cabin is exactly as you see it, there were no surprises, it was clean, well organized, and Cindy is an absolute pleasure to work with. All questions prior to arrival were answered, and she greeted us on the day we arrived to give us a tour of the property and make sure we had everything we needed. We spent time in Acadia biking, hiking, and relaxing at Sand Beach. We did venture into Bar Harbor but quickly realized that was to crowded for us, we were anxious to get back to our peaceful home and listen to the loons on the lake, and visit the fish my daughter named "Roxy". There are a lot of antique stores along the way, and Ellsworth/Bucksport are both a short drive away with nice family restaurant. We recommend Finns Irish Public House, Union River Lobster House, and Mainly Meat all in Ellsworth. We are looking forward to coming back again, and exploring more of the area!"

  • Cozy Cottage on Western Bay

"We had such a great time staying in this cozy cottage. The sunroom overlooking the water was my favorite place to sit. We saw seals playing and the fog rolling in at night. At high tide, you can hear the water from the master bedroom which just lulled us to sleep. The kitchen has everything you need to cook meals if you want. Although there is not a washer and dryer, the kitchen sink is plenty big to rinse out a few items of clothes. Also, there is no wifi or TV which we thought was a bonus and we didn't miss either one at all! There is a radio so we listened to music. Cell service (Verizon) worked great! You can rent kayaks from a local company that will deliver right to the cabin (or bring your own) so we enjoyed the Western Bay waterfront access from the cabin. The cabin is located on a very quiet road and only 7 miles from the main entrance to Acadia National Park, 9 miles to Bar Harbor, and 10 miles to Ellsworth. We did not have any traffic to deal with. Lots of restaurants nearby and an IGA grocery that has everything else you might need. They even sell spirits and Maine's famous blueberry wine. Thank you Pat and Bob for sharing your cabin and we hope we can get to Maine again soon. There are many more hiking trails that we need to do."

  • Amazing

"I have rented over 60 houses in five countries and all across the US, including over 20 in Hawaii and this is by far the most beautiful house I have ever stayed in. It starts with the view as you pull into the driveway. The grounds, while landscaped retain that natural beauty of Maine. In my imagination I could not have designed a more beautiful home. Everywhere you look, inside and out, there are beautiful or whimsical decorative touches. The carving in the railing on the bottom floor has to be seen. The person who created that is an absolute genius. The porcupine that watches over the great room brings a smile to your face. You have to see the house and spend a week in it to truly appreciate it. Words and pictures cannot even begin to do this house justice. We were there before the summer season kicks in so the ferry was closed, no water taxi, no buses, few businesses. Luckily J.M. Gerrish opened the week before we arrived and Chase's is open all year. All the other houses on the street were unoccupied but the houses are all situated so that you would never see or hear anybody at this house. The Wi-Fi worked great. The cable worked great but there were so many remotes I was the only person who could figure out the combination of how to use them. The bathrooms were spectacular. The beds comfortable. The kitchen well appointed with a gas range. A really, really comfortable house. There is one bedroom on the main level so if you have people with mobility problems they can still enjoy the house. There are about five steps to get into the house but they are broken up into two steps and three. We had no problem getting our one semi-invalid in. Getting her into the bed, which was a little high, required a small step stool but we had one. A binder with lots of useful area info. The kids loved playing on the shore and exploring the woods. The bedroom on the top floor, a loft, has no doors and the bottom floor has no door. It was very large with a recliner, couch, and the most spectacular views from the bed to the water. It was like you had your own apartment. But when the kids were on the 3rd floor talking and my husband and I were on the bottom, we could hear them perfectly. And TV sounds traveled up and down. You could also hear the happenings in the main floor great room. The main floor bedroom had a door. We would definitely stay here again. You will not be disappointed, but it may ruin you for other rental houses."

  • Lovely home in a spectacular and convenient setting

"Sea Meadow is a lovely and immaculately kept home, in a spectacular setting on the edge of Blue Hill Bay. The first morning of our stay, a school of Harbour porpoises swam through, close to shore, and throughout our stay, birdlife was abundant. The call of a loon at dusk is an experience not to be missed in this lifetime. Sea Meadow cottage is in a very private location, but only minutes away from the Wooden Boat School in nearby Brooklin, and puts all of the eastern arm of Penobscot Bay within easy reach. It is the nicest vacation rental we have ever stayed in, and we look forward to returning!"
