"We had a wonderful week in Bass Harbor staying at the Seamist Cottage. The house easily met all our needs as far as space and provisions. We were there with three kids including a one year old and a pack-and-play and high chair were even provided. There were tons of books, both children and adult, as well as some toys that kept our kids occupied during the down time at the house. There was plenty of room/beds for several members of our extended family as well. The house was older but very well kept and clean. The location was great-short walk or drive to Bass Harbor light house with amazing views, beautiful Acadia surrounding us, half hour drive from Bar Harbor and all the attractions there, short drive to many of the carriage trails, few minutes drive from several trails which my husband and I enjoyed hiking alone before the rest of the house woke up, and a grocery store ten minutes down the road, just to name a few perks of the location. Even for the less physically active members of our group there was a free shuttle bus funded by LLBean that made stops at the Bass Harbor post office which was visible from the house. The bus took you all over Acadia and Bar Harbor and you could come and go as you pleased. From the time leading up to our rental and throughout our week long stay, the owners were very responsive to our questions and requests. We made some great memories on our Maine vacation and will definitely be back, sooner rather than later."

  • Don't miss this

"The setting, at the end of a peninsula on Salt Pond, with over 1000 feet of water frontage, was beautiful and serene, very private and quiet. We especially liked driving in on the long driveway from the public road to the Garaj Mahal at the end of a long day of hiking and sightseeing in Acadia NP, just a short drive away, and sitting in the lawn chairs overlooking Salt Pond as the sun went down behind us. The apartment was airy and cozy, equipped with everything we needed to cook or relax. The bed was comfortable. We loved waking up to the cool mornings, lighting a fire in the stove (easy to operate and very efficient), making coffee and cooking breakfast. Steve and Maureen are great hosts and very knowledgeable about things to do and places to visit and eat. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Spectacular in every way."

  • Our Winter Retreat

"We have enjoyed Paul's cottage for our last seven February vacations. Mt Desert Island in the winter is fantastic! A day cross-country skiing or snowshoeing in Acadia is scenic and beautifully quiet. Returning to the cottage each afternoon and enjoying the fireplace, warm beverages, water views, sunsets and seabirds visible right outside the cottage window is heavenly. Sleeping in the loft bedroom, watching the moon, stars and lighthouse beacons is as romantic as it gets. Paul's cottage has everything you need, Kathy is extremely helpful, and we will keep returning to this amazing location. The pictures show it all except the tranquility of winter. We do recommend Paul's cottage to our friends but only if they promise not to compete for our week!"

  • Amazing views and Great Location!

"This was our first family trip to Deer Isle and we had the great fortune of finding this rental. The house is lovely, the kitchen well equipped, and the views from the porch are amazing. The location is perfect for relaxing; not too close to town but not far away either. There are also a number of nature preserves nearby for wonderful hiking. Could not ask for a more thoughtful family to rent from, a better house to rent or a better location."
