"Cannot say enough about the wonderful time we had in Maine. Before our arrival, Bob answered all of our questions about the area and gave us lots of ideas of things to do. We highly recommend Blunt's pond (just a couple of miles from the cottage) for swimming since the water in front of the house was too cold to enjoy. We arrived to fresh blueberry scones and a gorgeous view. We rented a canoe for our family of 6 because the kayak rental prices were a bit steep. Bob gave us excellent advice on when to enjoy the canoe the most, mornings and evenings. We spent so much time exploring the ever-changing beach in front of the cottage finding snails, fish, crabs, mussels, and a sea star. We were even lucky enough to see a seal up close two evenings when we canoed out to Googin's ledge. We spent most of our daytime hiking in Acadia with our 4 children varying in ages from 1 to 13. The Ocean Path was perfect for our family because we could push the baby stroller up on the path while the older children climbed on the rocks down below. The path around Jordan's Pond was another of our favorites. You can enjoy an easy 3 mile path or choose to hike up to Bubble Rock half way around. Another highlight of our stay was enjoying a LuLu Lobster tour at low tide. We saw lots of seals and Captain John did an excellent job of sharing his knowledge of lobstering.
We enjoyed dinner on the deck most evenings and our last evening Barb brought us a cup of fresh picked blueberries from their back yard. Delicious!
The days were warm and the evenings cool. We slept with the windows open and awoke to the sight of lobster boats heading out to check their traps in the morning. Truly an unforgettable experience!"

"Our family of two adults and four kids spent a week in August 2015 at Seamist Cottage. The cottage was comfortable, clean, spacious, and provided us with the perfect quiet base from which to explore Acadia."

"The difference between a good vacation and an outstanding vacation is always related to the provider. Anyone can offer a cabin by the water. But a helpful, kind and knowledgeable owner will transform that cabin into the experience of a lifetime. This is exactly why we are giving Scott and his A-frame cabin a 5-star rating. The cabin by itself is spectacular.....a charming, well-cared-for cabin located on a picturesque knoll overlooking the water. But Scott's 30-years of experience on the coast of Maine makes this rental better than any other. Scott will show you where to find the best food, the best hiking, the places for sightseeing, the best shopping, the best outdoor adventure....all of those things that are known only to long-term locals. And for us, Scott's knowledge and guidance, plus the quiet relaxation of nice cabin in a wonderful location, turned our vacation into a little slice of heaven in Maine."

"My wife and I had a very enjoyable stay at this cottage. It is perfect for two people looking for a home base to virtually anywhere on Mt. Desert Island. The kitchen was very well equipped with anything a traveler may need (the coffee filters were particularly appreciated). We found the patio to be quite lovely in the morning and a nice way to rest weary legs at the end of the day. A few items that are important to note for future visitors. First, the cottage is on Rt. 102, which means there is some car noise from 6:00 am until early evening. Rt. 102 has a limited shoulder and is not suitable for safe running/walking, in my opinion. Second, the bedroom faces east, making it rather bright in the morning even with a shade and blinds. The final point is not related to the cottage though worth noting. Bass Harbor is remotely located relative to the rest of the island. Southwest Harbor is less than 5 minutes away, but Bar Harbor can be as much as 45 minutes with traffic. Overall, a great place for a couple looking to get away from it all and take in the pleasures of the quiet side (be sure to go over to Seawall with a bottle of wine and some cheese, it's totally legal!)."
