  • Perfect Place

"Beautiful house and grounds with an incredible view! The house worked well for our two families. The location was ideal for us as we ventured into Bar Harbor and Acadia often. One of our favorite modern updates in the house - the countertops in the main level kitchen. The owner was very responsive and easy to work with."

  • Wonderful in everY way

"This cottage has everything you need. Great views, privacy, waterfront access, well appointed kitchen and is perfect for those traveling with your dog. There are homes on either side of the cottage but trees and lawn buffer and make for a very peaceful location. The fenced in yard in the back is so helpful when traveling with your 4 legged friends and rare to find in vacation rentals.. Non pet travelers don't be put off by the fact it is a pet friendly rental, it is super clean and the furniture is in pristine condition. Kayak or canoe right from the front cottage. Watch for dolphins and seals. Acadia national park is just a short drive away for hiking, bikiing, site seeing. Karen, the owner is a perfect host/owner. Completely available if needed for advice on where to eat, paddle, destinations. We hope to come back again soon. This was our third visit to Acadia region and by far the most memorable and enjoyable. The cottage is very roomy and open with a large living room, open concept and very comfortable sunroom. We will be back Wings!"

  • Location, Location, Location!!!

"We had a most wonderful 20th anniversary trip to this area. It was our first trip to Maine and this was the perfect spot for us. We could get to Bar Harbor, Acadia, the peninsula with ease and in a short time. We were going to go up into the mountains one day, but it was in the 90's inland, so we stayed near the water. The cabin is exactly as described and very clean. Other reviewers have mentioned traffic noise. I wouldn't personally call it noise or a bother at all. We had perfect weather, so slept with the windows open. Sure, you can hear traffic crossing the bridge (that you see in the photo), but we didn't find it annoying at all. If you would prefer to be out in the middle of nowhere, this is not for you. We had complete privacy and thought it was very nice and quiet. The stars at night were like nothing I've seen in many years. We went on the whale watching tour and lighthouse tour. Great fun! We spent one day in the Acadia National Park, stood in line at the Jordan Pond House - I ate two popovers by myself! Like nothing I've ever had and it's a good thing I can't have those all the time! They were fabulous! Even if the line looks long, that place is a machine and they do a great job of getting people seated and fed. Sue and Gordon gave us some great tips on where to eat and what to do. I hope we get a chance to go back!"

  • We did not want to leave!

"I can honestly say that this was the best vacation we have ever had. We did not want to leave (and that is a first!). We were lucky enough to have excellent weather while we visited (much better than at home in Massachusetts!). I spend a lot of time on my patio at home enjoying my garden and flowers. Northernest made me feel right at home (but even more beautiful!). It was so relaxing to come back to the house after a bike ride or hike and enjoy a cocktail on the deck. Kayaked in the bay, had s'mores out by the water, and saw so many fireflys! The kids were most excited about that - I haven't seen any fireflies since I was a kid! :-) The house is well equipped with anything that you would need and I loved that the cabinets in the kitchen were all labeled with the contents....made everything so much easier! I loved just sitting and watching the birds and chipmunks all over the yard. The kids really enjoyed using the porch as their doll's bedroom. :-) This is a truly dog friendly place with a fenced in dog yard and treats on the counter. We are already talking about booking again for next year!"
