  • We did not want to leave!

"I can honestly say that this was the best vacation we have ever had. We did not want to leave (and that is a first!). We were lucky enough to have excellent weather while we visited (much better than at home in Massachusetts!). I spend a lot of time on my patio at home enjoying my garden and flowers. Northernest made me feel right at home (but even more beautiful!). It was so relaxing to come back to the house after a bike ride or hike and enjoy a cocktail on the deck. Kayaked in the bay, had s'mores out by the water, and saw so many fireflys! The kids were most excited about that - I haven't seen any fireflies since I was a kid! :-) The house is well equipped with anything that you would need and I loved that the cabinets in the kitchen were all labeled with the contents....made everything so much easier! I loved just sitting and watching the birds and chipmunks all over the yard. The kids really enjoyed using the porch as their doll's bedroom. :-) This is a truly dog friendly place with a fenced in dog yard and treats on the counter. We are already talking about booking again for next year!"

  • Wonderful Vacation!

"My husband, myself and my parents along with our two four legged friends stayed here for a week towards the end of September and had a wonderful, relaxing and amazing vacation. The property is simply beautiful! So peaceful, wonderful views, great access to the ocean. The home itself is also perfect, with plenty of space and everything you need right there. It is located close enough to the town of Bar Harbor and to Acadia National Park to be able to see everything you would want to see and experience, while being able to enjoy your own quiet piece of paradise at the end of the day. We hated to leave after our wonderful week there, but am looking forward to hopefully being able to go back again to enjoy this beautiful property next year."

  • PERFECT GETAWAY!!!

"This was our first trip to Maine, AND our first time using vrbo. I feel incredibly fortunate. The house was perfect - and right on the water. We spent so much time on the porch enjoying the sights and sounds of the harbor. The location is far enough from "all the people" yet close enough to do whatever you want to do. Acadia is about a 15 minute drive, along with Bar Harbor. It was a fantastic location to wind down and get away from the daily routine. The house is fully equipped and we had everything we needed. The owners are fantastic and just an email/call away if you have any questions. Thank you for allowing this home to be available for renters. Highly recommended!"

  • Location, Location, Location!!!

"We had a most wonderful 20th anniversary trip to this area. It was our first trip to Maine and this was the perfect spot for us. We could get to Bar Harbor, Acadia, the peninsula with ease and in a short time. We were going to go up into the mountains one day, but it was in the 90's inland, so we stayed near the water. The cabin is exactly as described and very clean. Other reviewers have mentioned traffic noise. I wouldn't personally call it noise or a bother at all. We had perfect weather, so slept with the windows open. Sure, you can hear traffic crossing the bridge (that you see in the photo), but we didn't find it annoying at all. If you would prefer to be out in the middle of nowhere, this is not for you. We had complete privacy and thought it was very nice and quiet. The stars at night were like nothing I've seen in many years. We went on the whale watching tour and lighthouse tour. Great fun! We spent one day in the Acadia National Park, stood in line at the Jordan Pond House - I ate two popovers by myself! Like nothing I've ever had and it's a good thing I can't have those all the time! They were fabulous! Even if the line looks long, that place is a machine and they do a great job of getting people seated and fed. Sue and Gordon gave us some great tips on where to eat and what to do. I hope we get a chance to go back!"
