  • Labor day rental

"Spent four days over the labor day weekend for my nephews wedding. Cottage is modern, clean and well appointed. Complex was the same with helpful and friendly staff and neighbors. Didn't get a chance to fully utilize all the amenities or see all that the area has to offer due to a very busy schedule but hope to come back again and try them all out. Owner was very professional, prompt and helpful. No issues whatsoever with keys, checking in, equipment etc"

  • Maine farmhouse with European vibe

"Quiet comfortable antique Maine farmhouse with European vibe. Off the beaten path but within scenic drives to surrounding peninsulas. Birch Point State Park, Owls Head recommended. Artisan pizza can pick up on way back "home" in Waldoboro. Waterman's Lobster for best soft shell and great crab roll. Olson house for a stroll over farmland and taste of Wyeth inspiration Rockland Rockport and Camden for quintessential Maine coast and village activities. Or just stay hang out at farmhouse in Friendship and soak in silence in a secluded but not isolated location. On beautiful country walking road. If you want privacy, just ask owners if anyone will be on other side of house during your stay. Owners make it easy to rent and welcome you with nice libations in fridge and supply basics such as coffee and spices for home cooking if needed."

  • Adventure to remember

"What a week! The house is located just 13 minutes by car to Bar Harbor, 10 minutes by car to the entrance to Acadia National Park. If you choose to take the bus, the pick up spot is only a short walk away from this roomy, clean, comfortable home. We really liked the home and area! Just down the road from the cape house was a great spot to kayak. We did not bring ours but wish we had. I forgot the name of the harbor / bay area but a fantastic spot for that. There were 5 adults (4 woman and 1 fella) and one small dog that embarked upon this adventure and we never felt cramped in this home. LOVE IT. Hope to go back next year! Thank you for renting us the great home. Its a keeper! Can't say enough about the beauty. If visiting, do yourself a favor and pick up an Acadia Weekly magazine... its free and you can get one at any info center. Its very informative on driving around, the bus routes and has some great activity ideas. We used it every day and because of the magazine we hiked Acadia Mountain, it was AWESOME! I hope all enjoy as much as we did."

  • This was our first time in Maine

"The Ocean House is right on the water with great views. It is on an a very quite road with a lot nature in the area. The kids loved the open space around the house and going to the tide pools at low tide. We enjoyed the fire place each night and the fire pit by the water. The wrap around porch was great. The location was convenient to a lot of places to see in that area of Maine, 20 to 30 minutes to a lot of sights. Thank you Doug!"

Acadia Travel Tips

Rocky Coastlines Abound by Acadia Vacation Rentals

Land and sea come together on the rocky coastline of Maine. Spend a week in summer enjoying the sights and sounds at Acadia vacation rentals. A spacious house with the ideal view of Bar Harbor, Bass Harbor or Somes Sound can be yours. You can find the perfect vacation rental with VRBO for your family reunion or family vacation. Acadia rentals offer you the chance to prepare your own fresh lobster dinners on your private deck or watch the sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean while having your breakfast. There are plenty of amenities to make your stay more enjoyable, such as comfortable beds, large living areas and room to relax indoors or out.

Acadia National Park is Minutes Away From Acadia Lodging

You and your family can visit Acadia National Park to see the 54 square miles of Mount Desert Island. This fantastic island is the largest rock-based island in the Atlantic Ocean region. These rounded domes have been around for centuries with summits that are clustered with pine, spruce and fir trees as well as a profound profusion of wildflowers. Bird-lovers will find a large variety of birds within the park’s boundaries so do not forget to bring your binoculars. Guests of Acadia rentals can visit the park throughout the year with the exception of a two-mile section along the ocean during the winter.

With a fully equipped kitchen, you will be able to pack a picnic lunch so that you can hike some of the 125 miles of trails. If you are so inclined, there are horse-drawn carriage rides that are available from mid-June to early October. Otherwise, you can indulge your passion for fresh sea air by biking or taking a walking tour. Park rangers are on-hand from late spring to early fall to provide information on the area. After a delicious dinner, bring the family to a campfire program where you could learn about marine life, history or wildlife. You can even take a cruise around Frenchman Bay and the Cranberry Islands to get a great perspective from the water. A seven-day pass is the perfect accompaniment to your wonderful Acadia lodging reservation.

Acadia Travel Means Shopping and Restaurants

What could be better than a fresh lobster dinner while you are on vacation in Maine? You may decide you do not want to cook this feast yourself but dine out at one of the many restaurants in the area. There will be many that fit anyone’s budget and they do not all serve seafood. The restaurants in the Down East and Acadia region feature fresh ingredients with simple to extravagant cuisine. If you tire of seafood, you can find pasta, pizza, steak, and lighter fare such as salads and soup. One of the most popular and well-known restaurants in the area is the Atlantic Brewing Company in Bar Harbor. The estate is also located in Bar Harbor so you can see how the beer there is made.

Shopping is another leisure activity that can be enjoyed while staying in Acadia vacation rentals. Whether you are looking for a gift or want a memento of your time together in this amazing place, you can find it. If you have come away without the proper clothing or just want something new for your wardrobe, visit the Black Sheep Trading Company. This great store has hand-woven sweaters, moccasins, slippers or sheepskin items. If you want to indulge in a sweet confection to top your morning English muffin, visit Nervous Nellie’s Jams and Jellies. Maine crafts are abundant at Maine-ly Made Gifts where you can bring home items that remind you of the sea. Bookstores, artisans and artists all display their wares in the Acadia area.

Choose the Best Time to Visit Acadia
