  • Beautiful welcoming home

"Hello, This home is gorgeous! From the moment you step inside, you feel welcome. It's spotless clean. The views are breathtaking and you can't help but find time just slips away as you enjoy the ocean views. The hum of the lobster boats in the cove is so relaxing. We had a good time exploring the area. The lobster coop at Corea is a great way to plan dinner. A visit to the Bartlett Winery was fun. We went to Millbridge to take a boat tour with Robertson Sea Tours. Visiting the "Bold Coast of Maine" was so much more special staying at this home. Thank you for sharing your lovely home."

  • What a Wonderful, Comfortable Place

"This cottage is in such a beautiful setting you almost hate to leave. And when you do you don't have to go very far. The causeway at the end of the semi-private lane lured us down there morning and evening every day to watch the tide flow in and out of Norwood Cove. The heart of Southwest Harbor with its restaurants and shops is an easy walk away. Beautiful Bass Harbor is just down the road. As mentioned earlier, the house has everything you need from cooking gear to spices to laundry detergent and paper goods. It has good Wi-Fi and cable TV. It has nice towels and sheets and very good beds. The owner's book was full of great suggestions, and we took advantage of their ideas almost every day. The Knollette is not a fancy place, but it is a very accommodating place. We loved it from the moment we first saw it. The four of us Acadia first-timers agree that Southwest Harbor and the Knollette is the place to be on Mount Desert. We will be back."

  • Second visit was as wonderful as the first

"Beautifully restored, historic house makes you feel a real part of this charming, low-key, friendly town. The proximity to Schoodic Point for biking, birding, photography, and ocean watching is wonderful. We didn't even go to Acadia on MDI this year - Schoodic has what we value most (beauty, outdoor activities) without the crowds."

  • An amazing place to stay

"We had an amazing time at this cabin! It is quiet and tucked away in a beautiful area of MDI. The space perfectly suited the needs of our little family (2 adults, a 5 month old and a dog). All week we woke to beautiful sunrises over the water, ate breakfast at the table, and then set out to explore Acadia, Bar Harbor, Schoodic, and Southwest Harbor. We would come home at dinner time (baby goes to sleep early) and enjoyed playing cards in the peace and quiet. Then we would lay out on the nice deck and gaze at the amazing night sky. Make sure you explore the beach at different tides! We had a lot of fun looking for shells and sea glass. The cabin had everything we needed and was clean and uncluttered. Ben was extremely quick to reply to emails and phone calls (and is super nice too). I would definitely stay here again. I have already recommended this cabin to family and friends. Thank you for making our first family vacation a great one!"

Acadia Travel Tips

Rocky Coastlines Abound by Acadia Vacation Rentals

Land and sea come together on the rocky coastline of Maine. Spend a week in summer enjoying the sights and sounds at Acadia vacation rentals. A spacious house with the ideal view of Bar Harbor, Bass Harbor or Somes Sound can be yours. You can find the perfect vacation rental with VRBO for your family reunion or family vacation. Acadia rentals offer you the chance to prepare your own fresh lobster dinners on your private deck or watch the sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean while having your breakfast. There are plenty of amenities to make your stay more enjoyable, such as comfortable beds, large living areas and room to relax indoors or out.

Acadia National Park is Minutes Away From Acadia Lodging

You and your family can visit Acadia National Park to see the 54 square miles of Mount Desert Island. This fantastic island is the largest rock-based island in the Atlantic Ocean region. These rounded domes have been around for centuries with summits that are clustered with pine, spruce and fir trees as well as a profound profusion of wildflowers. Bird-lovers will find a large variety of birds within the park’s boundaries so do not forget to bring your binoculars. Guests of Acadia rentals can visit the park throughout the year with the exception of a two-mile section along the ocean during the winter.

With a fully equipped kitchen, you will be able to pack a picnic lunch so that you can hike some of the 125 miles of trails. If you are so inclined, there are horse-drawn carriage rides that are available from mid-June to early October. Otherwise, you can indulge your passion for fresh sea air by biking or taking a walking tour. Park rangers are on-hand from late spring to early fall to provide information on the area. After a delicious dinner, bring the family to a campfire program where you could learn about marine life, history or wildlife. You can even take a cruise around Frenchman Bay and the Cranberry Islands to get a great perspective from the water. A seven-day pass is the perfect accompaniment to your wonderful Acadia lodging reservation.

Acadia Travel Means Shopping and Restaurants

What could be better than a fresh lobster dinner while you are on vacation in Maine? You may decide you do not want to cook this feast yourself but dine out at one of the many restaurants in the area. There will be many that fit anyone’s budget and they do not all serve seafood. The restaurants in the Down East and Acadia region feature fresh ingredients with simple to extravagant cuisine. If you tire of seafood, you can find pasta, pizza, steak, and lighter fare such as salads and soup. One of the most popular and well-known restaurants in the area is the Atlantic Brewing Company in Bar Harbor. The estate is also located in Bar Harbor so you can see how the beer there is made.

Shopping is another leisure activity that can be enjoyed while staying in Acadia vacation rentals. Whether you are looking for a gift or want a memento of your time together in this amazing place, you can find it. If you have come away without the proper clothing or just want something new for your wardrobe, visit the Black Sheep Trading Company. This great store has hand-woven sweaters, moccasins, slippers or sheepskin items. If you want to indulge in a sweet confection to top your morning English muffin, visit Nervous Nellie’s Jams and Jellies. Maine crafts are abundant at Maine-ly Made Gifts where you can bring home items that remind you of the sea. Bookstores, artisans and artists all display their wares in the Acadia area.
