  • Amazing Family Celebration!

"We enjoyed our week with both of our sons' families, which included twin thirteen year old girls and infants 9 and 13 months. This lovely home is comfortable and was equipped to accommodate all of our needs! Everything that was promised materialized including blueberries for breakfast! We could not have been happier or more pleased!"

  • Nice Rental Home on the Schoodic Peninsula

"My husband and I rented this home in Gouldsboro for a week in October and had a really nice time. The home was very comfortable, clean and private. When we first pulled into the driveway I did not expect it to be so close the the street but with that being said it is still completely private. The road off the main one only has 2 houses on it, this home and one other one that you cannot even see. It is also about 1/10th of a mile off the main road so you do not hear the traffic. Everything you need is in the home, including extra towels and blankets and there is always the washer and dryer which I find a big convenience. The bathrooms were a nice size with a relaxing jacuzzi tub in one and a nice enclosed shower in the other. There is a beautiful mint green and black bowl sink in the downstairs bathroom, very nice. The leather couches in the living room are very comfortable as was the king size bed. Some others mentioned they did not like the two twin beds put together to make a king but we slept great on them. One thing to mention is the stairs are very steep inside and out going down to the water. The outside stairs end and you have to climb down an embankment that could be tough for some people. I did not realize the water level was dependant on the tide flow at this location and it was very mucky and muddy while we were there. It didn't really matter to us as it was October and we had no plans on swimming! Our week was mainly sunny and in the 50's just how we love it. It was fun to explore this side of Acadia for a change and the main park is a little under an hour away so we spent three days there as well. We brought our baby (a little black pug named Walter) with us and he had a great time as well. There was even a pile of doggie towels and food/water bowls in the house if he needed them. He was scared of the stairs though and had to be carried down. Since we had Walter with us I cannot recommend any restaurants in the area but I can say they had a nice gas stove and most everything you needed to cook with. The owners were very helpful with questions and I had to call them as soon as we arrived since I had left my printed email at home with the house key information on it. Luckily they picked right up and we were inside the home in minutes. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone vacationing in the area and the price was very reasonable. I would come again as well. Thank you Matt and Nicole for sharing your home."

  • Simply Perfect!

"The Wayfaring Mermaid Suite is simply gorgeous...it is one of the few places I have visited where the actual property is even better than the photos. My mom and I were able to enjoy this beautiful apartment in the most perfect location, along with my 2 year-old daughter. It is clean, well- stocked, comfortable, well appointed...I was able to set up a pack and play in the bedroom, and my mom used the sofa sleeper in the main room. She said it was very comfortable, and she loved the breeze from the open windows! The bedroom bed was just as wonderful as my own bed! Monique and Joe are both so kind, and the attention to detail when building this unit is very impressive! Joe is a highly skilled craftsman, and he handcrafted the entire apartment...gorgeous (I know I am using this word a great deal...but, it's the best word to describe this place). The courtyard, which we didn't get to spend nearly enough time enjoying, was adorable... We were able to walk to the Chart House Restaurant, which is just steps from the apartment; we also took advantage of the ice cream shop at the end of the street, as well! The rocky beach (also steps from the apartment), was the perfect spot for photos! It was a quick two minute drive to the Acadia National Park and just minutes to downtown Bar Harbor. You must visit Cadillac Mountain! I lived in Hawaii for two years (which has always been my favorite place on earth), and I really think Bar Harbor and the park might have moved past the islands:) We took a little drive to Bass Harbor, which was also gorgeous (beautiful sunset by the lighthouse). If you're looking for the perfect place to in the most perfect location...this is exactly where you need to stay! I hope to be able to return and enjoy this property with my husband!"

  • A Perfect Slice of Heaven

"The Stonington Guest Cottage exceeded our expectaions. The space is delightful as were our hosts, Doug and Leslie. We found the cottage immaculate, spacious with fine amenities including fresh flowers picked from the lovely garden waiting for us as we arrived. Our week was a perfect mixture of relaxation, exploring the town and Deer Isle. We we took part in the local culture attending a dance at the Stonington Opera House and enjoying a string quartet and a quaint church. We hope that other guests will find the harbor view from the screened in porch and deck as romantic and peaceful as we did. Leslie gave us great restaurant tips and we found the restaurants very reasonable in price with delicious food. A perfect slice of heaven without the large numbers of tourists. Thank you Doug and Lesle for sharing your special cottage with us."

Acadia Travel Tips

Rocky Coastlines Abound by Acadia Vacation Rentals

Land and sea come together on the rocky coastline of Maine. Spend a week in summer enjoying the sights and sounds at Acadia vacation rentals. A spacious house with the ideal view of Bar Harbor, Bass Harbor or Somes Sound can be yours. You can find the perfect vacation rental with VRBO for your family reunion or family vacation. Acadia rentals offer you the chance to prepare your own fresh lobster dinners on your private deck or watch the sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean while having your breakfast. There are plenty of amenities to make your stay more enjoyable, such as comfortable beds, large living areas and room to relax indoors or out.

Acadia National Park is Minutes Away From Acadia Lodging

You and your family can visit Acadia National Park to see the 54 square miles of Mount Desert Island. This fantastic island is the largest rock-based island in the Atlantic Ocean region. These rounded domes have been around for centuries with summits that are clustered with pine, spruce and fir trees as well as a profound profusion of wildflowers. Bird-lovers will find a large variety of birds within the park’s boundaries so do not forget to bring your binoculars. Guests of Acadia rentals can visit the park throughout the year with the exception of a two-mile section along the ocean during the winter.

With a fully equipped kitchen, you will be able to pack a picnic lunch so that you can hike some of the 125 miles of trails. If you are so inclined, there are horse-drawn carriage rides that are available from mid-June to early October. Otherwise, you can indulge your passion for fresh sea air by biking or taking a walking tour. Park rangers are on-hand from late spring to early fall to provide information on the area. After a delicious dinner, bring the family to a campfire program where you could learn about marine life, history or wildlife. You can even take a cruise around Frenchman Bay and the Cranberry Islands to get a great perspective from the water. A seven-day pass is the perfect accompaniment to your wonderful Acadia lodging reservation.

Acadia Travel Means Shopping and Restaurants

What could be better than a fresh lobster dinner while you are on vacation in Maine? You may decide you do not want to cook this feast yourself but dine out at one of the many restaurants in the area. There will be many that fit anyone’s budget and they do not all serve seafood. The restaurants in the Down East and Acadia region feature fresh ingredients with simple to extravagant cuisine. If you tire of seafood, you can find pasta, pizza, steak, and lighter fare such as salads and soup. One of the most popular and well-known restaurants in the area is the Atlantic Brewing Company in Bar Harbor. The estate is also located in Bar Harbor so you can see how the beer there is made.

Shopping is another leisure activity that can be enjoyed while staying in Acadia vacation rentals. Whether you are looking for a gift or want a memento of your time together in this amazing place, you can find it. If you have come away without the proper clothing or just want something new for your wardrobe, visit the Black Sheep Trading Company. This great store has hand-woven sweaters, moccasins, slippers or sheepskin items. If you want to indulge in a sweet confection to top your morning English muffin, visit Nervous Nellie’s Jams and Jellies. Maine crafts are abundant at Maine-ly Made Gifts where you can bring home items that remind you of the sea. Bookstores, artisans and artists all display their wares in the Acadia area.
