  • Lovely Place to Stay

"Karen worked with us with a last minute request to stay at her cottage. We loved it from the moment we arrived. It was very clean, equipped, and comfortable. The kitchen was outstanding-every appliance, serving dish, amenity you could possibly want or need. Settling down in the evenings in the beautiful living room area was great. Recliners and a massive flat screen TV along with plants and knick knacks made it all very homey! We were in Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park every day and it was a very easy transit back and forth to the cottage. The ice maker didn't work correctly and Karen fixed that right away. Wi-Fi wasn't available to us. We loved being able to do laundry when we wanted to in the new, modern, efficient, fast washer and dryer. it was also great to not have to pack much for our stay. Karen is kind and generous enough to provide a lot of the little things like dish soap, linens for bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom. She even followed up our visit with a phone call to our home to thank us. We found her very accessible and easy going if we had questions or asked for recommendations in the area while we stayed in her cottage. Thank you Karen for a great visit! We would recommend to it to anyone!"

  • Memorable Home, Memorable Vacation!

"This home was the best! It really was everything we could want in a vacation home. The teens were having a fit about not going to the beach as usual, so they were a hard sell - but even they said this was one of the best vacations ever. Jennifer was extremely receptive to our questions (even the dumb ones). The house was located in a great spot close to Southwest Harbor. A main grocery store was at the bottom of the hill, and the town was minutes away by car. We were so glad we didn't stay in Bar Harbor - it is a lovely place, and we went there twice, but the crowds - forget it.... Southwest Harbor was quaint and had everything we needed. Good restaurants, ice cream, bike rentals and fairly close to all the places we wanted to visit on the Island. We were two families - we stuck the teens up in the bunk bedroom (top of A-frame). It wasn't until the 3rd day we realized there was a pool table in the basement! The porch which runs the length of the house was just gorgeous, looking out over the woods. There were a few homes up on our road, but you couldn't see them through the forest. The stars were amazing, especially from the hot tub. We were there the 2nd week of July and the weather was great - never had to use the AC, always a breeze... We called the house "our green cabin", but it was far from a cabin! I have done many vacation rentals over the years, and it was so refreshing to stay in a home that was really someone's vacation home - not an investment property with zero personal touches. Fun stuff we did on MDI: rented bikes and road around the ponds, having lunch at Jordan House (we timed the ride with help from bike store in SW Harbor and made reservations outside) - beautiful! We enjoyed sunset atop Cadillac Mt., after enjoying a lobster meal at one of the roadside lobster pounds (near north entrance to park). We spent an afternoon at Echo Lake for a "refreshing" swim. A special highlight was going to Sand Beach on the loop road, views were breathtaking. We took a lunch, left our stuff on the beach and hiked up and around Great Head Trail - a little challenging for some of us, but well worth it. I would highly recommend Eat a Pita restaurant for any meal in SW Harbor. My thanks to our hosts, and should we go Northeast - Downeast again, we will be sure to rent this special home."

  • Amazing views and Great Location!

"This was our first family trip to Deer Isle and we had the great fortune of finding this rental. The house is lovely, the kitchen well equipped, and the views from the porch are amazing. The location is perfect for relaxing; not too close to town but not far away either. There are also a number of nature preserves nearby for wonderful hiking. Could not ask for a more thoughtful family to rent from, a better house to rent or a better location."

Acadia Travel Tips

Rocky Coastlines Abound by Acadia Vacation Rentals

Land and sea come together on the rocky coastline of Maine. Spend a week in summer enjoying the sights and sounds at Acadia vacation rentals. A spacious house with the ideal view of Bar Harbor, Bass Harbor or Somes Sound can be yours. You can find the perfect vacation rental with VRBO for your family reunion or family vacation. Acadia rentals offer you the chance to prepare your own fresh lobster dinners on your private deck or watch the sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean while having your breakfast. There are plenty of amenities to make your stay more enjoyable, such as comfortable beds, large living areas and room to relax indoors or out.

Acadia National Park is Minutes Away From Acadia Lodging

You and your family can visit Acadia National Park to see the 54 square miles of Mount Desert Island. This fantastic island is the largest rock-based island in the Atlantic Ocean region. These rounded domes have been around for centuries with summits that are clustered with pine, spruce and fir trees as well as a profound profusion of wildflowers. Bird-lovers will find a large variety of birds within the park’s boundaries so do not forget to bring your binoculars. Guests of Acadia rentals can visit the park throughout the year with the exception of a two-mile section along the ocean during the winter.

With a fully equipped kitchen, you will be able to pack a picnic lunch so that you can hike some of the 125 miles of trails. If you are so inclined, there are horse-drawn carriage rides that are available from mid-June to early October. Otherwise, you can indulge your passion for fresh sea air by biking or taking a walking tour. Park rangers are on-hand from late spring to early fall to provide information on the area. After a delicious dinner, bring the family to a campfire program where you could learn about marine life, history or wildlife. You can even take a cruise around Frenchman Bay and the Cranberry Islands to get a great perspective from the water. A seven-day pass is the perfect accompaniment to your wonderful Acadia lodging reservation.

Acadia Travel Means Shopping and Restaurants

What could be better than a fresh lobster dinner while you are on vacation in Maine? You may decide you do not want to cook this feast yourself but dine out at one of the many restaurants in the area. There will be many that fit anyone’s budget and they do not all serve seafood. The restaurants in the Down East and Acadia region feature fresh ingredients with simple to extravagant cuisine. If you tire of seafood, you can find pasta, pizza, steak, and lighter fare such as salads and soup. One of the most popular and well-known restaurants in the area is the Atlantic Brewing Company in Bar Harbor. The estate is also located in Bar Harbor so you can see how the beer there is made.

Shopping is another leisure activity that can be enjoyed while staying in Acadia vacation rentals. Whether you are looking for a gift or want a memento of your time together in this amazing place, you can find it. If you have come away without the proper clothing or just want something new for your wardrobe, visit the Black Sheep Trading Company. This great store has hand-woven sweaters, moccasins, slippers or sheepskin items. If you want to indulge in a sweet confection to top your morning English muffin, visit Nervous Nellie’s Jams and Jellies. Maine crafts are abundant at Maine-ly Made Gifts where you can bring home items that remind you of the sea. Bookstores, artisans and artists all display their wares in the Acadia area.
