  • Clean & comfortable

"Our family stayed here during our 1st trip to Maine. The house was very clean and nicely decorated. The beds were all comfortable and the kitchen had pretty much everything you needed if you decided to cook while there. It was nice to have a comfortable, quiet place to go to at the end of the day after being busy exploring all of MDI during the day. There were some great restaurants in town and all the major attractions are within 1/2 hour away."

  • Excellent

"Our review with out the polish: we stayed in the humming bird suite. The place was so clean you could eat off the floor, the grounds were lovely and very well taken care of. I only met the hostess Donna, lovely person inside and out. Water pressure was amazing, bedding and towels clean and not a billion years old. Lighting for getting in and out very good and turn on by themselves, grill wonderful. Everything you could need in the kitchen. Internet was 3 g and tv had a number of station. Drive way paved. flowers and garden are lovely. Chickens on the property, we could only hear them when the windows were open.... yes there was a rooster he starts at first light but is in his house till 9, didn't bother us and they were a hoot to watch. We live in rural Pa. at night we hear crickets and tree frogs, the property is right on Rt 3 the major road in and out of Bar Harbor. So to us it was noisy with traffic. Trucks and bikes noise would vibrate threw the bedroom floor and jack breaks you could feel in bed. Could the host do anything about it NO. maybe a rug? We could not open the windows at night and we moved to the pull out in the living room the 2nd night and closed the bedroom door which helped. Other then that we would highly recommend staying here."

  • A wonderful retreat

"My husband and I spent a lovely week in the Chalet and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owners provided everything we needed, including lobster pots and lots of dishes, cups and serving ware. Towels and blankets were plentiful. We especially enjoyed our early morning coffee on the deck watching the tide come in and the neighborhood clam diggers. The house was spacious, clean and well organized. I highly recommend this if you want a quiet, somewhat secluded place where relaxing is your top priority."

  • Perfect getaway, great vacation!

"My husband and I had a perfect week with two of our adult children at Sea Meadow Cottage. The cottage was immaculate but cozy, and we felt at home at once. Inside we played cards, watched movies, and had some wonderful meals, all cooked in the pristine, fully-equipped kitchen. Outside we enjoyed playing Frisbee on the lawn and having snacks on the deck while soaking in the amazing view. We took walks on the beach and did a lot of kayaking directly from the cottage. We already have a framed picture that we took from the deck of the sun rising over Bernard Mountain. We cannot imagine a more perfect place to spend a vacation. Our only regret about Sea Meadow Cottage involves next year. Three day after returning home we tried to reserve any week in the same month in which we rented this year but found that the cottage was already fully booked for all dates within our possible 8-week window!"

Acadia Travel Tips

Rocky Coastlines Abound by Acadia Vacation Rentals

Land and sea come together on the rocky coastline of Maine. Spend a week in summer enjoying the sights and sounds at Acadia vacation rentals. A spacious house with the ideal view of Bar Harbor, Bass Harbor or Somes Sound can be yours. You can find the perfect vacation rental with VRBO for your family reunion or family vacation. Acadia rentals offer you the chance to prepare your own fresh lobster dinners on your private deck or watch the sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean while having your breakfast. There are plenty of amenities to make your stay more enjoyable, such as comfortable beds, large living areas and room to relax indoors or out.

Acadia National Park is Minutes Away From Acadia Lodging

You and your family can visit Acadia National Park to see the 54 square miles of Mount Desert Island. This fantastic island is the largest rock-based island in the Atlantic Ocean region. These rounded domes have been around for centuries with summits that are clustered with pine, spruce and fir trees as well as a profound profusion of wildflowers. Bird-lovers will find a large variety of birds within the park’s boundaries so do not forget to bring your binoculars. Guests of Acadia rentals can visit the park throughout the year with the exception of a two-mile section along the ocean during the winter.

With a fully equipped kitchen, you will be able to pack a picnic lunch so that you can hike some of the 125 miles of trails. If you are so inclined, there are horse-drawn carriage rides that are available from mid-June to early October. Otherwise, you can indulge your passion for fresh sea air by biking or taking a walking tour. Park rangers are on-hand from late spring to early fall to provide information on the area. After a delicious dinner, bring the family to a campfire program where you could learn about marine life, history or wildlife. You can even take a cruise around Frenchman Bay and the Cranberry Islands to get a great perspective from the water. A seven-day pass is the perfect accompaniment to your wonderful Acadia lodging reservation.

Acadia Travel Means Shopping and Restaurants

What could be better than a fresh lobster dinner while you are on vacation in Maine? You may decide you do not want to cook this feast yourself but dine out at one of the many restaurants in the area. There will be many that fit anyone’s budget and they do not all serve seafood. The restaurants in the Down East and Acadia region feature fresh ingredients with simple to extravagant cuisine. If you tire of seafood, you can find pasta, pizza, steak, and lighter fare such as salads and soup. One of the most popular and well-known restaurants in the area is the Atlantic Brewing Company in Bar Harbor. The estate is also located in Bar Harbor so you can see how the beer there is made.

Shopping is another leisure activity that can be enjoyed while staying in Acadia vacation rentals. Whether you are looking for a gift or want a memento of your time together in this amazing place, you can find it. If you have come away without the proper clothing or just want something new for your wardrobe, visit the Black Sheep Trading Company. This great store has hand-woven sweaters, moccasins, slippers or sheepskin items. If you want to indulge in a sweet confection to top your morning English muffin, visit Nervous Nellie’s Jams and Jellies. Maine crafts are abundant at Maine-ly Made Gifts where you can bring home items that remind you of the sea. Bookstores, artisans and artists all display their wares in the Acadia area.
